Rep Power: 16 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I really want a tablet. And I really want to go all out. I saw it at the store today and was completely struck in awe. Was very close to buying it but wanted to think about it for awhile. Cintiq 12WX Product Information Overview Is it worth it? $1,000....but oh man baby, it's wonderful. My parents want to get it for me in case I pursue a career in art, but I feel really guilty with them getting me something that costs $1,000 with me not being able to pay them back (I already bought a huge-ass HD TV). So, what do you guys think? I wanted some opinions. I hate having to scan, and I really want to digitally paint...is it good compared to other Wacom tablets? Etc.? |

Although, that one pales in comparison to this one: Cintiq 21UX Product Information But uh, price lol. So get the 12WX, totally worth it. If you're worried about price and you think you'd feel guilty after buying it, get an Intuos3. I have an Intuos3 6x8, and it does me wonders. Heck, I watch artists on dA that use the old Graphite models. It doesn't matter what tablet you get, as long as you're dedicated to using it. Remember when you do buy it though, tablet =/= wonderous pieces of work. It's COMPLETELY different than working with pencil/paper, and may take a couple of days until you're comfortable with the stylus. After that, it takes years to develope a skill level near artists such as adonihs. Practice and dedication pays off a lot when beginning to work with a tablet. Rep Power: 16 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well with Intuos3 tablets, you can't see what you're drawing, right? You have to keep your eye on the PC monitor and blindly draw, right? That was one of the main reasons I was drawn to the Cintiq, or am I mistaken? I would get the large 20/21" Cintiq...the one you mentioned....but oh gawd is it expensive. I think 12x9 is fine >_> it should be fine, right? |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 12x9 should be perfectly fine. Anyway, with an Intuos3 you're not drawing blindly as you'd think. Although it's **** hard to not look at your paper when drawing somethings, it's a completely different feeling when using a tablet. Your hand kind of moves on it's own and will produce whatever image you're trying to create. As long as you see the image being drawn, then an Intuos3 is fine. I can tell you know, most artists on dA will NOT have a Cintiq yet they can still produce images that are beyond our scope. A Cintiq does help a shit load though, I admit that. |

But yeah, Cintiq looks amazing. However, I wouldn't go out and spend $1'000 unless I was sure I was going to stick with it. If you're not sure about pursuing the career thing, I'd probably go with an Intuos. Quote:

Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | $1000? O.O I spent £70 on mine, which is about $140... but that's not what you're asking. I'd say go with Jay Chou, he's talkin' some sense there. If you decide to pursue a career in art, then I'd shell out the extra for that tablet. After all, it'd be excellent quality for a price like that. It'd last quite a few years I'd assume. You could always buy a cheap, or second hand one to test the waters as it were. That way you'll have an idea about tablets before you buy one. <3 |

From what I've heard they provide him with a lot and he'd feel bad making them shell out ~1,000 Dollars for something he isn't sure he won't use and can't pay them back for.

Rep Power: 16 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, they do help me out quite a bit, and this time we're trying to pay off a lot of bills and save up for a vacation. My parents say it's up to me if I want this, and I really really do, but I feel bad with them spending $1,000 on me (they already helped me buy my $1,800 HD TV, but I've paid most of it off already). My mom says if I want I can order it on Saturday after the month rolls off of the bills, which I might do, but I think I'm going to keep my job a bit longer than I planned so I can help pay off at least half. I've been thinking lately and I think I really want to pursue art. Even if not for my main career, at least as a side hobby that I could get a little money from. So I think it's an investment.... As for the Intuos, I've spent a couple of hours watching Intuos and Cintiq videos. I think I'd rather double-up and get the Cintiq for the comfort of drawing right on the screen. But jeez, $1,000? I think they overprice. It's essentially just a touch-screen with buttons and some pressure-sensitivity. lol. |

That's a HUGE understatement. Heck, even saying "the cintiq has THOUSANDS of pressure sensitive points" would be an understatement. Wacom is so high quality, there's no company that can possibly rival them. >: I'd like to see you produce the same quality of work with a tablet PC; oh wait, you can't.

Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you've got the talent and the conviction to pursue a career in art, then by all means go for the Cintiq. And from what I've heard, the Cintiq is so much easier to use because you're drawing directly on the surface, not staring at a screen while you blindly move your hand in a confined space (6x8 for myself) If it's for shits and giggles and you aren't even that good, shoot for the Intuos3. |

However, I also want to see this tablet in some PC FPS action lolol. Anyway, too late! Already ordered it off Amazon Prime. $1,003 with one-day shipping. Can't wait for it to get here. I want to at least try it out. In the end, if it's not what I want or it's too expensive, I can always sell it on eBay later. So I think I'm good. Though I did hear the Cintiq has some problems with drawing on the edges of the screen or something? Or that it only has two points of calibration or something? Should I be worried about that? I hate the fact I have to plug into a power source AND the PC to use this, considering they're on two opposite sides of my TV and probably won't reach to both XD Quote:
They need some competition so the prices can drop =/

But I will probably give them at least some money to help pay for it, despite they wanted this as a gift from them to me. Quote:
I make about $400-500 a month. Tis my first job, and a rather easy one, so I'm not complaining that much =P
