I'll probably get flamed for this, but anyway.
If you upload something onto the internet, it is no longer your legal property. Anyone who sees it can take it. These 'rippers' are well within their rights to take what you have made and do what they want with it. I am not saying that it is right for them to do so, I am merely pointing out that it is legal.

Yes, and I know that it does not apply to internet based images.

Intellectual Property, or IP, is the group of legal rights to things people create or invent. Intellectual property rights typically include patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret rights.

Nowhere does it mention internet-uploaded files. Intellectual property is a form of copyright used to protect the work of Authors and the like.

To obtain an Intellectual Property right, you must be able to prove that the submitted material is a profitable idea or invention.

Besides, if you upload it, someone is going to take it somewhere. If you don't want it stolen, don't upload it. If you do upload it and someone does steal it, you cannot legally do anything about it.

Once again, I do not support ripping, and I do not do it, I am just stating the facts.

I have to agree, well with the better part of you anyways. I am an artist myself, and I post my art work online for others to see and enjoy, and use with MY permission.

See though, you CAN edit the basic layout of the page or where you post the image to the fact that it could still show it, but not be able to be copied and pasted, or any of the likewise.

Then again not doing this means that I guess many people don't care. Don't give me that "some ppl don't know how to" crap, you can learn ANYWHERE, it's called a search engine.


Still, rippers should be shot in the f---ing leg...pricks.

You really don't know what you're talking about do you? If you havn't noticed, it says [NOT Sprite Rippers]. Sprite Rippers just sprites from games and use them to create sheets for other people who use them for animations and comics. The rippers being talked about in this thread, are the ones who steal other peoples work and claims it as their own.

Hello, justice runs through the forums. =P We find someone who steals, we ban. I don't tolerate it, and the other moderators don't either. Who ever said we were taking legal action because someone stole our stuff over the intenet? Action doesn't mean legal action. We're taking action, and it's working.

Me being an Ex ripper (hey Paint was horrid :( ) the good ones have commom sence enoguh not to rip sigs and then like pm or post for the person to see in the same forum ( luckily my freind scolded me and made me stop )

I don't think rippers hsould be killed i think they should just be laughed at when we find a way tomake our images say (i STOLE THIS) when someone takes it, it works better with websites though..

EX- on some site they were on hiatus. But Google had a cached version
