| relative power | Personal website design. (should be up by end of the weekend) I've been working on this all day. ![]() ![]() ![]() More than likely will not change much at all as I'm satisfied with it as it is. Background image itself I took. Thoughts? |

| oh fun | I like it and how you used the pic colors with the text and such. I think that the little box needs to be moved down though cause it interferes with the text, but that just may be a peeve I have. Anyways great job. |

If so, what text do you mean? It's not bright on my screen. And uh.. it's a website layout? Thanks.

| Divinido Le Aesthetico | Not gonna lie, that's pretty gross. Text is ugly, the lights are just passing cars or moving lights, and yeah. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 16 EXP: | It's not ugly, just looks unprofessional. the photograph is very low quality, it seems. play with it, make it less stringy/grainy. or just take a new photo the typography is hardly your best. not the best choice of fontfaces |

And as for making the photo less grainy (I'm not changing the photo itself), what do you propose? Because all I know of is "reduce noise" and that just makes it look fake. I don't see it really being low quality at all tbh. I enjoy the font faces I used, so I'm not going to change them. :/ Thanks, opinions are appreciated. EDIT: Well I lied, I used "surface blur" and cleaned up the background a little bit: ![]() Last edited by Happy Holocaust; November 8th, 2009 at 02:12 AM.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 16 EXP: | having spent a lot of time designing profile layouts for bands, i'm pretty sure the opinions of older people on websites are completely shitty. like for real. i don't know, is that the largest resolution you have that photo? the floating box is very "i just got photoshop look i can overlay shit" I say clean it up. make it a tad more minimalistic, more user-friendly colors are your friend, when you use them together |

| relative power | But there's also aesthetics you learn in college that you don't necessarily learn on your own. :/ I hold by my mother knowing what she's talking about, too (though I'm not disregarding what you're saying - I trust your opinion probably the most out of anyone's on here). I'm not going for what's hip and in right now, I'm going for what's alright to the eye. Like how Riel says "they're just photos of passing cars," well yeah, but who cares? I understand that it doesn't quite stand up to being a great photo on its own - that's why I'm using it for the site layout. http://i35.tinypic.com/igi2iw.jpg is the largest of the photo I can upload online really, but its actual dimensions are 3888x2592 so I resized it down a lot. I'll play around for a better way for the box overlay kind of deal, but I want it to be bound so the scroll bar won't look so wtf-y when the site gets coded and put online. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 16 EXP: | the problem here is with the white in that photo. it's so bland, and it stands in contrast with the pure black background you have. your colors are dulled, and when you use a pure color pulled from it for the text it just looks muddled. dodge your font layers, do something to make them pop. college? useless in design, i think. they just tell you how to design the next mac logo. and i understand about the box. design is so frustrating. i'm not saying ditch the box altogether, but if possible, try to think of a different alternative. maybe instead of an overlayed box, how about a 70-80% gray? The black background is a detriment to the whole thing |

| relative power | I'll try fiddling around with the colors, but I still want it to pop, as that's kind of the theme of the site (which is why it's called ACHTUNG). Mm, the box is probably the most annoying thing to deal with because I need it there or else text (with almost any color that matches the site) doesn't show up without it. And the background isn't actually black. o_O It's grey. Dark, but certainly not black. I'm not on my mac right now but in forty five minutes to an hour I'll be back on so I'll make some adjustments then. |

| I don't like you. | Planning on coding this? I like it, though I do agree better font faces could've been used. I like the glowing lights/effects, they look appealing, imo. I think you should take a look at other websites and use some ideas from their, it could probably help. |

And what do you think I've been doing? Been looking at conceptart.org artists' websites for hours. Shit has gone through a fair amount of changes since I last posted, will get some images up in a few after someone else posts after me.

| Member | i feel like if i were to stumble across a site that looked like that i would immediately think un-professional. it's just kind of everywhere and too much. the colors in the lights clash too. sorry. |

![]() I need a typeface for the photography/sketches and drawings/digital that works well, because I can't find one that works at all. ![]() This is probably the most i'm going to change the layout for various reasons, the most important being I like it how it is. :/
