I just went for a more simplistic style. No effects at all just a bunch of techniques used.

Please don't say the left side is empty, I know it is, and I meant to do that. I also know that it's a bit monotone. That too was intentional.

blur is distracting, move the stock over it a little.

I think it would look good with a type of 'grungy' feel to it.

The second part of the door frame shouldn't have been blurred so much. I believe, anyway. Nice stuff, nice concept.

I like this! It's interesting, how you've done it all blurred, like he can't see it that well on account of where he's stood, so we can't either. At least that's how I read it :)

I think there should be a black shadow covering his arm or at least a black gradient coming from the right

I actually like the concept and the utilization of depth.
Although you should add more contrast/brighten to the man and negative lighting around the sides via blended black soft brush, especially the right.

I've contrasted the shit out of this tag so any more would be pure horror. But yeah I'll try some of those other techniques.

the original stock looks better than this

I agree with ray.

All it looks like is that you blurred that portion (quite poorly I add) and threw a few gradient maps over it. There's a lot more you could have done to achieve the effect you were going for WITHOUT blurring it (or blurring it less).

What do you want me to tell you?

Learn what works on your own. There are certain fillers you can use and burning things and what the fuck ever.

Just look around photoshop at everything. Don't expect us to tell you how to make something look better really. :l We've told you what looks bad - it's up to you to make it look better.
