Default Who's Bad?
I'm working on a digipainting of Michael Jackson as a tribute. Not near finished yet, but I need some opinions.

First, heres a progress shot of what I have:

This is the image im using as a reference:

Now, I need to know if i should paint something different for the background, or just paint the one in the photo.

I would rather just paint the one in the photo, since I wouldnt have to come up with a scenery that has the same light sources, or change the lighting in the painting I've already done, but if anyone has any ideas, I'm listening.

anyway,
nobody replied soon enough =[
so i went ahead and did the background.
and more of the jacket.
I havent slept yet.
@.@

Bottom is cropped out because i still havent even started that half.
and I still need to do detailing of the hair & eyes and a little more work with the face.
His nose is wrong..
but i think i kinna like it better that way.
it was half accident too.

haha yea, i hadnt got around to detailing the hair yet.
that hair was still just the base color there from the very beginning. Made with a 14 px hard brush on a low opacity.

Heres a full version.
Still have some small details to touch up, but ill get to that probably tonight or tomorrow. right now im exhausted.

I totally love the idea! Good job so far! Personally, I think you should paint the actual background, but whatever you do will probably still be nice.
