| judge magister daniel | The staff and I had a little discussion on the current rules concerning the use of fan art in signatures. As such, the rules have been adjusted slightly and are as follows; It is now no longer necessary to seek permission from the artist of fan art before using it in a signature. As most creative commons licenses allow you to use other people's work as long as it's not for commercial purposes, there is no reason why this should not apply here, so go for it. However, if the artist does contact you and asks you to take the signature with their art in it down, you must comply. Also, it sort of goes without saying that if you plan on selling something you make, you can't have anyone else's art in it without expressed permission. Otherwise it falls out of our hands and into a legal blah blah blah. that's about it |
