I think that you need to definitely work on text placement and typography in general <3
The font styles that you've incorporated in the first three are very easy on the eye, however I think that if you brought you changed the /first/ higher font piece on the first to something smaller and different, and moved both sets in general closer to your stock, and brushed over it softly to make it blend in better - it would have been more appealing. Also - deepen the contrast around your stock to give it an extra /edge/.

2nd - I'd strongly suggest to flip the text to being slanted and horizontal to move along with the skate board that you have there. With that in mind, increase the size of that font x 2 or 3, and use perspective to bend it so that it works better with the stock, and /like above/ brush a bit over it, or change it to a lighter opacity so that what the eye sees /first/, is parallel to the stock used. In order to play this one up - You may have to be a little more creative with your typography, so the minimalistic style that you're using stands out a little more <3

3rd - Use the same method, if you'd like, by using a simpler font /Futura ftw/, and blending it in better with the soft - brush method. And fix it to where "Made" is on top, and "In Heaven" are beneath it, but "Made" or "In" would be in a smaller font size/style. Also, here - nix some of the sharpening around his face, it's a little too visible.

4th - This piece is absolutely gorgeous to me <3 To make it more dynamic, I'd just suggest to either add light growing from beneath your stock, or add more contrast there.

I see some experimentation in all of these pieces.
Your 4th is without a doubt your best.

I agree with what Beau had to say, for the most part, especially with regards to the font. God it's been so long since I quit GFX.

However, is there actually an announced skate 2 game? I skateboard and LOVED skate, I'd love to see what they would incorporate into a sequel.
