Title(to be announced later...)

Chapter 1

What is a story? Is it a way to pass the time to little children? Or is it a way to pass information to adults by words? No it's a way for the government to control our way of seeing this world, a world controlled by people who mean to do us harm.
Politics. A clever disguise to cover some of the truth. Politicians the voice of the people, men and women who seem to know what WE as a people want. But that was a long time ago. Before the last great war. I tried to tell people about them. Only a few people listened at first. Then when the war started more and more people believed in what we had to say. They had to focus on an entity to focus their hate on.

Manchester. The first city to be attacked by the new weapons of mass destruction. What do you think as weapons of destruction? Nuclear bombs? No in our time, your future, we use a weapon that can destroy more people at the flip of a button. They called it the X project. X marks the spot. That's what people used to say before the war. Well now and then. More then anything else. People said that it would bring peace when used. But we knew. We always knew.

New York City. The center of all our commands. The city which was abandoned after the first shot of project X was fired at this city almost destroying the buildings but killing all the people. We came to this city so as to escape the Government that sought to have us put to death. We knew the truth about everything and they knew it too. So what if they were the last people on earth? They didn't care. It was a hazard to the earth if someone knew the truth. So we told the world our message.
It failed. Most of the men there were already corrupted by the influence of their cities being targeted by Project X.
Cowards. But that was the past. Now we have to live to survive and survive to live.
This is how we live and where my story begins.

It was the middle of July, according to one of the calendars that one of my fellow survivors found. I sighed as the tall deserted building that was our headquarters began to move a few inches more towards the ground. We would have to leave it soon but it would work for a few more years. I looked as all my friends and comrades worked to make sure we couldn't be found by the Terminators. Sure it was a cliché but hey you can't beat the classic horror films. We were trying to find something. It would help our cause in the war against the government which controlled the weapon. If we found it we could protect the innocent from the destruction that it caused. But it was hidden beneath all the rubble that was New York. Let me explain who my team was.

Johnny, man that man was a live wire. Sure he was a good soldier but I wouldn't want to fight him in a one on one fight. He was our gunnery expert, fighting in the war before the Great War, he knew his way around an Automatic Rifle. He was the best and one of my most trusted friends.

Troy, he was our demolitions expert. Before the Great War he was in construction. The war came on and he lost his family in a fire. He was a man who had nothing else to lose. He was very smart and knew how to plant C4 in certain building to lose the Terminators.

Samantha was our hand to hand combat expert. When she was very little her father began to teach her how to fight. Ever since then she has learned every type of fighting style. She was also a very smart general. She knew what to do in a tight situation.
Then there was Tony, our lookout and sniper. The best there was. At the age of 5 he had learn how to shoot a gun. At age 7 he shoot his first animal. At age 13, he was the best shot in the entire HQ. He was one of the first people to join the cause and fight with us. He was my childhood friend growing up.

Ahh but who can forget Justin, our tech expert. Justin who was raised and fed on technology. He could hack into any file in less than a minute. He wore the glasses of an old former technician, his teacher who had died trying to save him.
Then there was me. The leader of this squad. At age 13, I had seen my fair share of death. And by age 18, I had killed a man. All I knew back then was to survive. But then my former captain took me in and trained me and taught me the ways of a squad. To all ways be careful and be cautious. But when it came to a fight always be the first to go. These were my friends and comrades that I was in charge of. I was in charge of leading the group, and assigning missions. This was the first big assignment we have had in a long time.

"Sir?" Justin asked in a puzzled voice.
"Hmm? What is it?" I replied, wondering why Justin would need me. He was searching for a file that would lead us to the object.
"You need to take a look at this." He said this with a shiver in his voice. Whenever that happened it meant trouble. I looked at the file and read what it said.It was not a good thing to read. As I read I felt terror in me starting to build until I had to look away, it was too much.
"Justin send that back to HQ, they are going to need that."
"What's the matter? Something wrong?" Samantha said in a calm voice.
"Yes seems that the object is not what we had expected. It's a..." I trailed off as I saw the words and realized what had happened to all those people long ago.
"It does not matter now. Tony see anyone?"
"No sir, just some rabbits and some deer."
"Good we need to move to another secure location. Gear up men." I said in a commanding voice.
"Sir!" They all said in unison as they packed up their materials. The only one still working was Justin. As the rest began to leave he began to shiver as the memory of what he had found out kept playing in his mind.
"Soldier, you okay?"
"Yes sir it's just that..."
"I know. We will all have to give something up one day, including me." I stared off outside where the rest of the squad was scouting the area.

Meanwhile...in an undisclosed location...
"How is he?"
"Well his heart patterns show that he is ready to be released...but there are some complications."
"Like what?"
"Well, since he's been asleep so long, he might develop a personality, or develop his former personality back from his memory's ."
"Hmm. That is a major setback, but we can't afford to let this opportunity to go. Release him."
"As you wish, sir." A sound was heard and a capsule was opened to reveal a large man, around his 20's. He had dark black hair, strong body, and a long scar that ran down from his right eye to his left arm. He seemed to be asleep. His eye's then began to open as he began to realize where he was. His eyes were of a silver nature and were very deep, as if you could look into them and fall into them. He looked at the two men that had awakened him.
"So....how...long has....it been?"
"Thirty years sir."
"Hmmm....well at least.... I am back. What is.... the situation? The rebels... still haven't been destroyed?"
"No you are going to be in charge of that sir."
"So that is why you have awaken me." Said the sleeping man. He began to stretch. Thirty years of sleep had affected his muscles but they were coming back slowly. He then cracked his neck and back, looked around and put some clothes on. The clothes materials had changed over time. He began to smile.
"This is going to be fun." He said with an evil smile.

Chapter 2

It was getting late. It had been a few hours since we had found out the info and left from the building. Many of the creatures that were out now were usually hunting small prey, usually staying out of our way. Tony was in front making sure that no one was in front of us and behind us. It was also unusually quite for a summer night. Nothing was on the scanners and radio contact was possible. I began to worry that something was going to happen.

"HQ do you come in?"
"What is it alpha squad?" They sounded more irritated then anything.
"Well everything seems to be quite. Can we get an evac?"
"Roger that. A heli should be coming your way. And Alpha?"
"Sir?"
"That info you obtained on the item was top secret from the Governments main head quarters. We need to talk about it when your squad gets back here."
"Roger that. Alpha out. All right men we have an evac coming for us. We need to find a tall enough building for them to find us." I said this over the radio so that I didn't have to speak loudly.
"Get into groups of two, each watching the others back, radio back in when you find something."
"Sir, yes sir!" Each of them separated. Tony with Troy, Justin with Johnny, and Samantha with me. Each of us had a pistol and an automatic rifle, a flare and a shotgun each attached to our back via a specially made backpack. Samantha and I headed towards the old district of New York; usually there were enough tall buildings that could withstand a heli. We had found a decent building, tall enough to withstand a few helicopters. We headed inside of the building. It was an old shopping mall of some sort, a bunch of stores and old clothing stores. We went around seeing if there were any supplies that we could salvage. Clothes were scarce but we put a marker to show that there were some. That's when something went wrong. We could hear fire fight go on somewhere outside. But the radio's weren't coming on so we both agreed to head to the top. I sent a message out to the rest of the squad to head to tall buildings and take a defensive position. The matter of if they had heard was up to the radio signal. We both headed up the each flight of stairs, trying to get to the top. When we found the door, we kicked it down, looking around for anymore gun fire. There was none. We looked at each other as we made it to the rail of the building. It seemed that nothing had happened and that it was a miss fire. But my instincts told me that someone was out there and that they weren't friendly. I signaled Sam to get into a defensive position so I could coax the enemy out.

"Show yourself you coward!" I yelled as loud as I could. Only my echo answered.
"We know you’re out there." I said trying to make them believe that we knew that they were out there.
Again silence. I shrugged my shoulders, and radioed the rest of the squad. They all had answered the same thing. Gun shots, then silence. It was perplexing. Someone was out there but he couldn't be in all three places at the same time? Maybe there was a small 3 man squad trying to get us to send up a flare. That was it. I knew that we had to tell HQ about it. But before that I had an idea. I radioed Tony.

"Tony can you get into a sniper position so that you can see all of us?"
"Of course but I won't be able to see as well if you don't allow night vision."
"It’s granted." When Tony used Night vision the light from the scope usually came out. This was how I was going to win.
"Tony, when you put it on makes sure you’re near a reflective area, so that the light can reflect in different places."
"Yes sir." I could hear as he ran for the steps. We could hear the door being open.
"Alright I'm positioned sir. I can see all of you."
"Alright when I say now you fire agreed?"
"Sir yes sir!" He loaded up his gun as he waited for the signal. This was what I planned to do. I was going to fire some random shots, and see if I could get them to fire back, Tony could find where they were. As I fire the shots, I waited to see if they shot back. But there was only silence. I fired some more and I got what I wanted, returning fire.
"Now!" I yelled. There was a moment of silence and 3 shots were fired.
"Targets are all down sir."
"All right head over to our position. Were going back to base."
"Sir!"

Even though we had downed the tangos, something told me that something was coming. And it wasn't going to help us. A half hour later, we were all heading back to base, each happy to be alive. But I felt that would soon end.
A storm was coming. And it would all test us.
Especially me.

Chapter 3

As we began to land, the team was happy to be on safe ground. We never did like being in the air. I looked around at each of my allies all smiling on the surface, but inside they were crying. As I looked around I saw General Martinet head towards me. She was a hardened women, somewhere in her sixty’s, she had been in the last Great War but had never fought on the field. Even though she never used an actual gun, she was a master of strategy and could take down an entire platoon of Terminators with just 2 men. She came up to me, saluted, and put her hand down. I did the same thing.
“Welcome back soldier.”
“It’s good to be back.”
“Well we have some matters to discuss. Meet me in the debriefing room in a few hours.”
“Sir yes sir.” I saluted her as she walked away. I never did like having confrontations with her. She gave me the vibe that she was on her own agenda and that I was expendable. She also thought that my team was too. We each went into our own rooms back at the NY HQ. Let me explain the layout of the HQ works.

The building that we use as a base was one of the largest buildings in the city. It had many different floors and had different offices back before the Great War. Each soldier had his own room by having a bed, some photos and a gun. This was used so that each had the same area, just some more personal effects as you promoted in rank. The generals had their own cubicles on the higher levels while the lowly soldiers had to share theirs with one or 2 people. My team each had their own, for we were above the lowly soldiers. Don’t think we are arrogant like the generals. Most of the people down in the lower levels were some of our best friends and warriors. We treated them with respect and dignity. Most of the soldiers didn’t have any family at all. Most just wanted to make a world that was safe for them to actually have a family. Most of the soldiers didn’t have any romantic relationships. But what me and Samantha had between each other was, well complicated. Since we were both soldiers we couldn’t have a life together out on the field, but when we got back to base it changed. We didn’t hold hands or kissed, we loved each other so that one day we could have a family, but not until the war was done.

As I changed out of my body armor and got into a more casual clothes I headed towards the debriefing area where I was supposed to meet the General. She looked unhappy and displeased to see the info we had obtained. She waved me into the conference room.
"This is...very enlightening."
"Sir?"
"This project... Spencer.... it was used during the Great War, or at least they were developing it while we fought their war." She said this with a displeased look on her face.
"Yes it was developed by the Government to be used as a human super weapon, but was closed after the rebellion. Now they seem to be starting it back up again." It wasn't looking good for us. The info we had found was not a device that could help us win the war, but info on a top secret project called The Spencer Project. It was used to develop people with superhuman powers, like super agility and strength. Basically they were used as killing machines. the projected was created by the world renown scientist Spencer Quarintino. He was interested in the structure of humans. When he first started the project he asked for willing soldiers to be used. His request was denied, if the Government couldn't have the soldiers they needed they would run out. So he used civilians. They began to show signs of great improvement, both in their lungs and muscle mass. But then something happened. One of his subjects took over the entire building where all the research was being done. It was rumored that he was testing on his lab assistants and that one of them had gone mad. After that the project was closed and the entire thing was just covered up by a story saying that it had been a terrorist that had taken it. I hated the news.

"Sir, what are we going to do?" I asked her with the commanding voice of an officer that was interested with this case.
"Well according to the data that your team had found, the project has just started back up. It will take some time before they could actually use it." She sighed at the thought of people destroying buildings with their hands.
"So we just wait for them to attack us?"
"No we are going to find where they are conducting the research and destroy it before they can use it on us." This was a smart move even though we had no idea where they could hide such a thing.
"You and your team are in charge of this mission since you were the one's who found it." she said becoming more Soldier like.
"Sir!" I saluted as the custom was.
"You and your team will be briefed in the morning. For now relax, and go on guard duty. Take whoever you want with you. Dismissed." She said as she turned her back on me and began to read the info again. As I walked out I saw Samantha head towards me.

"Hey Sam, want to go on guard duty with me?"
"Sure. Let me get my gear on and I'll meet you up there." She smiled at me when she went passed. The thought of her happy then struck my head.
Samantha was never smiling unless something bad had happened. Even when she was happy she never smiled. Something must of happened to her.

Little did I know it was bigger than anyone could have imagined.

I like the story. The first chapter is long but good. I like the introduction.

Just a tip: it would be easier to read if you spaced your paragraphs more.
