The Shooting Star ~

So, this is my first time ever letting someone read one of my stories.

This is one called "The Shooting Star". ( I'm not too creative with titles =/ )

I've been working on the story, characters, and artwork for quite some time now. ( About a year. )

But all you need to know right now, is that there are two main characters:

Star and Heart.

They found themselves stranded in an unknown world.

After a few days of hiding out in a cave for shelter, they decided to explore.

They had been walking through the forest for hours, and after coming to a clearing in the forest, they find a waterfall.

They sit down and talk for a while about their own worlds, and then Heart says that she never had any friends back in her world.

I'm not going to post the artwork just yet, but here's a short preveiw of "The Shooting Star":

"I guess we're both on our own..." - Says Star

Star stands up, walks toward the waterfall, and stares at the sky for a moment.

Heart stands up and walks over to where Star is.

"Well, it's no fun to be all alone...so..."

Star turns toward Heart and holds out her hand.

"I'll be your friend, and you can be mine, okay?"

* Star smiles *

"...okay."

Heart and Star shake hands.

* Heart smiles *

"?...Heart, look behind you!"

Heart turns around to see a million colors, light up in the night sky.

"An auroura!" - Says Heart

"What's that?" - Star asks

"It's something that we have in my world, it's really rare. I heard that they only appear when something really big is about to happen!" - Says Heart

"Wow...how big?" - Star asks

"Reeeeeally big. That's why they're so rare. No one on my world has seen one for 1'000 years." - Says Heart

"...That's a really long time! I wonder what's going to happen then?" - Says Star

"Yeah..." - Says Heart

They both stared at the Auroura in awe and amazement.

After what seemed like forever, Star broke the silence.

"Well, it's about midday. We should probably find a place to sleep for the night." - Says Star

"Alright." - Says Heart

Then they both walked east, in hopes of finding a path that would lead them down the waterfall.

But if they had stayed just a moment longer, then they would have seen it.

A shooting star, and a pink ribbon of light shot across the sky.

A bond had been made that day.

A bond between two friends.

And little did neither Star nor Heart know that soon they would have the adventure of a lifetime.


"Your journey has only just begun.

You shall encounter many hardships, make many friends, and you will find go on many adventures.

At journeys end, you shall find what you seek.

But will you be willing to pay the price?

...I'll guess we shall see what the future holds.

I didn't expect any feedback, lol.

But as long as I know that someone is reading, i'll keep posting.

And from now on, i'll be updating my first post each time I post another chapter.

Here's chapter 2:


Chapter 2

Star and Heart had found a path that led down the side of the waterfall,
and into the valley below.


"Well, it doesn't look like we're going to find any caves around here.

So I guess we'll have to make a place to sleep in one of these trees..." - Says Star

"...In one of the trees? How are we going to do that! It doesn't sound
very safe..." - Says Heart

"It's fine! I used to do it back on my world all the time." - Says Star

"But what if the tree sets on fire! Or the wind blows it over! Or the
branches break! Or..." - Says Heart

"Or we could sleep on ground level and get eaten by wild animals while
we sleep." - Says Star

"..." - Heart

"I'm telling you it will be fine! There's nowhere else we can go,
and I do this kind of thing all the time.

Trees don't just catch fire, the wind isn't strong enough to blow them over,
and i'll test the branches to make sure they're strong enough." - Says Star

Heart didn't look very convinced.

"Just trust me, okay?" - Says Star

"...Okay." - Says Heart

* Star smiles *

"But if I get hurt i'm blaming it on you!" - Says Heart

"Sounds fair enough. Now, let's get to work!" - Says Star


Star made her way up into the nearest tree, and proceeded to check every branch, until she was sure that the tree would have no problems supporting their weight.

"Okay, it's safe to come up now!" - Says Star

"...Come...up? What do you mean?" - Says Heart

"You know, climb up the tree?" - Says Star

"But what if I get a splinter! Or I could slip and fall! Or --" - Says Heart

"You'll be fine!! I'll help pull you up, and this will be good practice for you." - Says Star

"But, that's not safe! Besides there are spiders! And other things that live in trees! And what if--" - Says Heart

"This is going to take a while...* sigh *" - Says Star


* Two Hours Later *


After two very long hours of going back and forth with Heart, Star finally managed to get Heart to climb the tree. ( Whilst complaining about splinters, bugs, and anything else she could think of, mind you. )

They both lay upon the canopy and stare up at the night sky.


"This new world isn't so bad." - Says Heart

"Yeah, it kind of reminds me of Twyla..." - Says Star

"Twyla...what's that?" - Says Heart

"Oh, Twyla is the name of the place where I live on my world.

What's yours?" - Says Star

"...Lyria." - Says Heart

"Hmm, that's a pretty name." - Says Star


There was silence as the two thought about their home worlds.


"Well, it's getting late. We should get some rest so we can leave at dawn.

We should try to cover as much ground as possible before midday." - Says Star

"Alright. Good night, Star." - Says Heart

"Good night, Heart." - Says Star


Then they both closed their eyes and started to drift off into sleep.

Thanks for the feedback ^^

I wanted there to be some humor amidst the seriousness.
So I decided it would add humor if Heart were to freak out about the tree, lol.

And that is also a good example of Heart's personality.

I've already done the third chapter...but it's a shorter one.

I'll be working on more chapters over the next few days.
But it might take me a little longer to update ( Due to the fact that I have to use my mother's laptop to post. -_- ).

Anyways, here's chapter 3:


Chapter 3

Star stood upon a plain of grass,
overlooking a a small reflective pond.

The wind shook the tree's, releasing what seemed like a never ending amount of small pink sakura blossoms.

Soft and amazingly beautifull music filled the air.

Star leaned closer to the water's surface,
trying to get a beter look at the reflection.

In the water, Star could see hundreds of
star's, light up in the night sky.

But when she looked up, there were no star's
to be seen.

Just a clear blue sky.


Star then listened intently to the music wafting through the air.

It was a soft melody that made her feel sad, but happy at the same time.


That's when she realised that this tune was familliar...had she heard this song before?

As Star tried to figure out which way the sound was coming from,
she was suddenly startled by an extremely bright light.


"Your journey has only just begun." The hauntingly beautifull voice said.

"What journey?" Star managed to say

"The journey to find something important."

"What could be so important?

And why me?"



"The answers you seek shall be found in due time."

"Star! Wake up!" - ???

Star heard a voice calling her name, but she wasn't sure who it belonged to.

"Come on Star, get up!" - ???

Star sat up, still dazed, she opened her eyes and saw that it was a young girl.


"Oh, Heart. What is it?" - Says Star

"Look!" - Says Heart

"Wha--....

Where are we?" - Says Star


All around them were tall buildings...and people.


"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." - Says Star

Heeey guys and gals!

Just a heads up:

I'm almost finished with chapter 4.
You can expect it in a few days.

Along with the next chapter of 'The shooting star', I will be posting some character concept art.

So if you're wondering what Star and Heart look like ( Not to mention a new character that could very well be making an appearence later on. ), then wonder no longer as I post my latest creations, as well as some old art from 2007!

"...where are we?" - Says Star


Everywhere Star looked there were tall buildings and people.

A thousand different sounds and smells filled the air.

And the sunlight was mostly blocked out by the buildings that seemed to tower over everyone and everything.


"I don't like this place..." - Says Heart


"But this place is amazing...

And it can't be that bad if there are people living here." - Says Star

"But it's so scary...what if one of the buildings were to fall over? Or what if--" - Says Heart

"NO! We're not going through that again.

Come on, let's explore!" - Says Star


Star the stood and brushed the dirt off her skirt.

After her skirt was clean, she ran out of the alley and toward the crowd of people.
( For you readers who didn't quite undertstand, they had woken up in an alley. )


"Wa-Wait for me!" - Says Heart


Heart then stood up, and hurried off in the direction Star had gone.

After wandering around for only a few minutes:


"Aww man, i'm so hungry!

What about you, Heart?" - Says Star

"I guess i'm a little hungry..." - Says Heart

"Let's go ask those people over there for some help.

I'm sure they'll know a good place to eat around here!" - Says Star


Star ran over to a group of people standing on the sidewalk.

"Excuse me, but do you know someplace--" - Says Star

Out of the group of people, a girl, about their age, turned to look at Star.

Star slowly backed away.


"Hey...what's wrong?" - Says Heart

"It can't be...

Let's go ask someone else." - Says Star

"Star? Is that really you?" - ???

"Oh crud." - Star mumbled.


She turned around to see the young girl standing there.


"Hi Rita, How are you? I haven't seen you in forever!" - Says Star

"I'm really good! Just been traveling with some friends.

But what are you doing here?

I thought you told me you were going to give up going to different wor--" - Says Rita

"Sooo, I need your help. Are there any good places to eat around here?

Because me and my friend here are famished!" - Says Star


Rita looked at Star suspicously.

Star just smiled.

And Heart figured that whatever they were talking about was none of her buisness.


Rita knew by Star's smile that right now wasn't the right time to talk.


"...Sure, there's a place right down the street that has the best food you'll ever eat!" - Says Rita


"Sounds great!" - Says Star


"Come on, i'll bring you there.

And for some reason, I doubt you have a place to sleep for the night...?" - Says Rita


"Of course we do! Right Heart?" - Says Star


Heart shook her head.


"I don't want to sleep in a tree again!" - Says Heart


"Of course you do!" - Says Star



"Well, I guess you can both stay at my place for the night." - Says Rita

"

"That won't be nessacary..." - Says Star


"Really, I insist." - Says Rita


Star looked worried.


"Well...let's get going, shall we?" - Says Star


Star ran ahead.


"Wa-wait a second! You don't even know where the resteraunt is!" - Says Rita


"I'll figure it out!" - Says Star


"I see she hasn't changed a bit.

Well, come on Heart.

We better catch up with her." - Says Rita


"Okay." - Says Heart



And then they both took off after Star.

Interesting.
So now you are showing us someone that Star knew before. I wonder why Star doesn't like her that much.
Good chapter I'd say.
