Division By Zero: Emissaries [A KH RP]

The castle rose up into the sky, it’s towers and spires and chimneys twisting around the central spire. Blue smoke rose from the chimney’s indicating the activity inside. Outside was a different story. From the outside the castle was dark and barren. The old attempts at repairing it remained, slightly rusty from lack of use. Every entrance was barred save one. The main gate was held with a single lock, and waiting patiently before it was Inari, the leader of the town. He was a big man, slightly stocky, but he had bright green eyes that stood out compared to his dull robes.

He was waiting for the Emissaries. Dangling from one hand was the key to the castle, and the other held his walking cane. He smiled softly as he watched the clouds above the city, wondering if all the Emissaries would arrive, or if some would change their minds and remain here. It was a brave thing these young people were doing, traveling into the castle and exploring that strange door, and he held a lot of respect for each and every one of them. All he could do now though was wait patiently.

Leonard checked his pack again, making sure he had everything he needed for this trip, before slinging it over one shoulder and heading downstairs. “Len, honey, you’ll be safe, won’t you?” his mother asked, coming in from the kitchen with a packed lunch.

“Of course, Mom,” Len sighed, smiling at her. He took the bag from her and looked inside. “We were chosen to do this.”

“I know, I know,” she said, hugging him tightly, crushing the lunch she had packed. Len hugged her back just as tight, trying to reassure his mother that everything would be okay. He still wasn’t sure of that himself.

“Mom, I have to go,” he said, pulling away from her. “I’ll be sure to come home as soon as we’ve fixed this.” Len kissed her on the cheek quickly before slipping past her and out the door onto the cobbled streets. He glanced up at the castle, knowing deep down inside that this would be the last view of it from outside for a while.

James felt a wave of sadness as he looked back at his city. He felt himself gripped by fear as he walked closer to the huge castle. What if I can't come back? What if I ended up gettin kill..?

"Nonsense!" he shouted out. "I can do this! Besides, it's for the good of everyone in this world! I can't backdown now!"

After verbaly reassuring himself, James continued towards the castle at a fast clip, swinging his sword lazily at his side. He had always loved looking towards the castle, even though he had never actually been inside. He had been lulled to sleep many times looking out his window at the slow snake like blue smoke stacks. It had been a relaxing view, but now whenever he looked at it he felt anxious.

He had been walking quickly, so he arrived at the castle soon after departing from his home. James spotted a big man holding a key and a walking cane at the main entrance. He must be waiting for the Emissaries...which means I should probably go down and say hello. He approached the man at the gates and immediately recognized the man as the town's leader Inari by his robes and his sharp green eyes.

James went up to him. "Hi, I'm James Lupinox. I'm one of the Emissaries. Are you waiting for us?"

Sora hopped out of bed. As soon as he woke up he could smell the waffles being baked downstairs. "Hey pops!" An old guy was in the kitchen. This is they guy that has been raising Sora. He is the chef at the inn and a great role model. "So i see that todays breakfast is waffles! I love your waffles!" The chef replied, "I know you do. Since today is the day you leave i figured that i might as well send you off with something delicious in your stomach!" The man brought a plate of waffles with eggs and bacon. Sora gazed into the food and slightly drooled on it. "Pops this is the best plate i have ever seen!!! Thank you." He continued to gobble down his meal and once he finished he saw the castle beginning to raise up into the sky.

"Pops I'm off! I hope that we see each other soon!" The chef delightfully waved at Sora and said, "Hey Sora take this pack of food i want you to have." Sora took the food and waved. The chefwaved back and watched as he ran through the doorway. The chef sighed and said to himself, "I hope we do too..." Sora started to run down the streets of Radiant Gardens. Watching the castle raise up out of the ground made Sora think what was going to happen once he got there. He saw boy with a lunch pack looking at the castle. When looking at him from that distance Sora thought that he looked different from the normal people he saw. With a cheerful look on his face he walked up to the boy and got real close to his face. "Your eyes are really pale." He backed up and started circling the guy. " Nice hair man. It's really..." touching his hair he continues, "Pointy..." Intrigued at why this guy was gazing at the Tower. He simply asked, "Hey were you called to the castle also?"

Ray sat, after a rough night of sleep,and looked around yawning. "Well it's time i get going." Ray said "Don't want to miss the adventure." Ray got up and began walking toward the street when he heard growling from behind a trash can. "Hello" Ray said into the alleyway. "Is anyone there?" He heard the growling again. As he moved toward the trash can a dog slowly moved out from behind it and growled at Ray watching his movements.
Ray and the dog began a stare down. They gazed deep within each other eyes. The dog was unaware that Ray was looking into his mind. Visions of steak and beef moved through Rays mind. "Oh you're just hungry aren't you?" Ray said with a smile "Here you go little buddy." As Ray handed the dog some food from his bag. "Well i have to go" Ray told the dog as turned around for the street again. He made it to the end of the alleyway when he heard barking and the dog ran towards him. "Okay so you want to come with?" Ray asked the dog and the dog began wagging his tail with his tongue hanging out "Alright lets go but when we get to the castle you might have to leave okay?" So Ray and his new dog friend began walking to the castle and toward what could be a fun adventure.

Glancing at the castle he scowled. Troublesome was the first thought; he stood standing in front of the castle, sword horizontal on his lower back. Looking over to his side he noticed some people approaching the castle, he looked away, "Great.. I thought I was the only one.". He doesn't want to continue standing over here, so he walked over to the spiky hair brunette, and some other guy. I.. Guess I have to be nice huh? Approaching the brunette, he had a serious expression however his eyes were half opened, conflicting with his serious expression. "Hey", he greeted.

Inari smiled at the young man who had called himself James, "Why yes, I'm here to let you into the castle." He looked back over his shoulder. "We had to seal it up when those shadows attacked the crew members." The big man laughed deeply, "But I'm sure you can handle that, James."

Len looked at the younger man circling him, confused by his antics, "You're rather hyper, aren't you?" Len touched his own hair, wondering what was wrong with it. It took him a long time to make it look just the way he wanted it. And he thought his eyes were his best feature.

"Your hair is rather... strange too," he said, glancing at the boy's two toned hair colour. "Oh, and yes, I was. You're an emissary?" He continued walking towards the castle, not wanting to waste time. The castle wasn't too far though. "Do I know you by the way?" Len asked as he walked away. Before Len could properly get on his way another man approached, close to his age with a quick greeting. "Hey," Len said, trying to smile, "gotta be on my way, if you'll excuse me."

Trekking swiftly over the vast, now almost ethereal landscape of her home town, Vikki chanced one last, and tearful gaze back towards her house. While she couldn't physically see the house through the mass of other homes, and huts that dotted the scene, in her mind, and in her heart, she could see it just fine. Her tears, at this point, were mostly of sorrow, sorrow that she may never see her parents again, that either she, or worse, they, would not make it through the events that were to come. Yet there was hope still to be seen in her cry. Hope that while she was gone, she would find, somewhere in the mess of things, the one thing that she wanted more than anything else.

Still crying, she turned her back from her home, and the last fragments that remained of her childhood. She could feel that once she was done with this journey, if it ever did come to an end, she would never be the same person she had been, and still was in a way. For better, or for worse, change was in the cards.

She looked up towards the castle as she approached the front gate, and saw more than ever how different it looked, now that it was alive, and lit. And the truth was, it looked far more menacing, and forlorn than it had when it was dark, and silent. In its emptiness, the darkness that shone from within had seemed natural, and belonging. But to see the abandoned behemoth, so full of life was just... Unnerving.

Finally reaching the gate, she had just managed to dry the last of her tears, and regain her more natural, confident, and happy composure. Still, however, there remained a trace of her anguish, glimmering in the light let off by the lonely giant standing before her.

It wasn't until she had gotten directly in front of the gate, that she became fully aware of her company. One quick glance at the others gathered told her that she had, thus far, been the only girl called upon to act as an emissary. And accompanying them was, not to her surprise, an older looking man. This is going to be a bit... odd. Smiling kindly to what would soon be her new friends, or enemies, if luck wasn't on her side, she made her introduction.

"Hi everyone. My name is Victoria Saunders. But if you'd like, yo can just call me Vikki."

Leonard looked up at the towering castle as he reached the main gate. The towers seemed so much bigger when you stood beneath them. They almost touched the sky from where he stood. He'd grown up under these towers, and he never thought he'd have to say goodbye to them. It was so strange to feel this way, he realized, he'd always wanted to go farther than this small town. He smiled and thought to himself, "Well, I didn't think I'd leave this way."

He realized he'd almost walked into the person in front of him when he heard he speak up, "Hi everyone. My name is Victoria Saunders. But if you'd like, yo can just call me Vikki." He stopped and glanced at the other people around. Seeing the group that had gathered so far he wondered why it was so small. There was the squirrelly boy with the two tone hair, and the Vikki girl, along with an older man and a black haired boy about his age.

"Hey, Vikki, I'm Leonard," he said, smiling slight as he stepped up next to her. "Is this all of us?"

Inari looked around at the young people gathered before him. "I think this is all who will show up." Inari smiled at the Emissaries, "You know what you're here for, right?" He turned to look at the castle looming over them, "Inside this castle is a door, and you'll know it when you see it, trust me," Inari slowly unlocked the gates, turning the heavy key with audible clicks. "And through that door is whatever has created the shadows that menace the castle." The gate slid open silently as Inari turned to face them again. "All of our world is relying on you."

Len chuckled, "Oh, is that all?" He could feel his stomach twist with butterflies though, and the thought of failing plagued his mind. He wondered if anyone else felt this way, but he tried to quell the fears.

Inari smiled as the weak attempt at humor. "Yes, that would be all." He motioned to the other Emissaries, "Why don't you get to know each other before heading inside?"

Ray made his way to the front gate of the castle when he noticed the group of people standing, waiting for the doors to open. He wasnt close enough to hear the conversation between some of the people but he had a pretty good idea. "Alright" Ray said looking at his dog companion "Ready to see if our plan works." Ray slowly walked to the castle and into the front gate. When he made into the front walk of castle he heard the tail end of the main objective of the emissaries. Ray looked around "Sorry I'm late you know bad traffic."
As Ray finished talking the dog walked out from behind him and laid down by his foot. "Oh and while i am thinking about it" Ray said looking at the old man standing in front of the castle door "This dog is a friend of mine is he able to go with me?" When he finished speaking Ray reached down and patted the dog on the head.

James smiled as he gave his reply to Inari. "Of course I can handle a couple of Heartless. I wouldn't have agreed to go if I couldn't."

Since he had arrived to the gate first, he had to wait for the other Emissaries to show up. James felt slightly awkward having to stand alone with the older man, and the delay in information did nothing good for his frayed nerves. He watched as a group of three guys and a girl approached the gates. He heard the girl introduce herself as Victoria Saunders. He had not caught the names of anyone else, and decided to walk up to the group to introduce himself.

Before he could start talking, Inari started to speak. James listened attentively as he explained their mission. Right before the older man had finished, another boy walked up to them, a dog cheerily walking behind him. He listened to the boy give an excuse for being late, and then ask permission to bring the dog.

A dog? All that could possibly do is slow us down...oh well. If he wants to endanger himself by bringing a dog, that's his problem. Just don't expect me to help with it.

His thoughts may have been against bringing the dog, but his heart was all for it. The thing was absolutely adorable, and James did house a sweet spot for animals. After a swall inner conflict, he settled his course of action about the dog.I won't say anything for or against it. If I speak against it, I may make an enemy out of the boy. If I speak for it, it would be against the wellbeing of the Emissaries.

James decided to try again at introducing himself to the others. "Hey, everyone, my name is James Lupinox. It's great to finally be able to meet the other Emissaries."

He need to make a friend, or at least an ally, out of every single one of them. Soon, his life could depend on his actions, and vice versa. It was a weird feeling to recognize this fact.

I just hope they act in a way that won't hurt me...

"You're rather hyper, aren't you?" Sora didn't think that he was hyper, and there for simply speculated the boys appearance. "Your hair is rather... strange too," Confused at why he would say that he says, "What! my hairs not-" being cut off by the older boy, "Oh, and yes, I was. You're an emissary?" This guy won't let me get a word out... "Well yes I-" Cut off once again by the boy, "Do I know you by the way?" Sora was starting to get angry. "No you shouldnt-"

"Hey" Some new guy cam up to them and simply said that one three letter word. It didn't look like he was talking to him so Sora didn't answer.Once again being cut off Sora was furious, and this time it was by another person! "Hey," Sora tries to say something but is quickly interupted by this guy again, "gotta be on my way, if you'll excuse me."Then the kid simply left without giving a name or anything. Sora didn't like how the kid he had just met left him behind. So he followed the kid and went to the front gate.

"Hi everyone. My name is Victoria Saunders. But if you'd like, yo can just call me Vikki."
Sora replied politely, "Hey Vikki! I'm-" Now this old guy at the front of the gate interrupted Sora.

"I think this is all who will show up. You know what you're here for, right? Inside this castle is a door, and you'll know it when you see it, trust me, And through that door is whatever has created the shadows that menace the castle. All of our world is relying on you."

Sora thought to himself, Wow the whole world?The next thing he heard was his new partner say "Oh, is that all?" The old guy seemed to know that he was playing. The old man says "Yes, that would be all. Why don't you get to know each other before heading inside?" Sora liked this idea and was ready to introduce himself to these people and make new friends! A guy walked up with a dog and started blabbing about wanting it to come with us, so he simply ignored the guy talking and listened to the other guy introducing himself. "Hey, everyone, my name is James Lupinox. It's great to finally be able to meet the other Emissaries."

Sora jumped to the open spot to introduce himself. "Wassup people! I'm Sora! Hows it goin?"

The first answer to Vikki's introduction came from a taller, well built boy roughly her own age, and his arrival made her jump slightly. A little more uncomfortable was that he took a stance right next to her, at what she felt had been a bit too close a gap. None the less, she gave him a quick smile and a nod, and turned back to face Inari, who was now working on unlocking the doorway that would lead them into the castle's. Ignoring the obnoxious sounding creaks of metal as the lock came undone, Vikki turned her attention to three others that had just arrived.

The sight of them confirmed, once and for all, that she would the only female emissary leaving from here. And at the moment, she wasn't entirely sure what to make of any of them. The boy that had greeted her first seemed to be nice enough, and the one with the dog seemed alright, and she didn't have a problem with having the dog around. An animal might even prove to be useful to the group as time passed. But then there were the other two. James, to say the least, seemed a bit skeptical of the group, and the boy named Sora had already come off as being under Vikki's aproved maturity level.

Judgments aside for the time being., Vikki questioned Inari about the door. "So, what is this door like?" she asked, her voice soft, yet strong in tone. "I mean, is it a door that's always been there, and just never been noticed before, or did it just kind of appear there one day?"

A bit ticked off at Sora for not answering him, he tried his best to calm down; when he was trained by the samurais he was the shortest one there, and was treated without respect. It angered him that even out here he wasn't respected. He pulled Sora by the collar, and lifted him up slightly, he wasn't exactly heavy so he lifted him with no problem. Glaring into his eyes, he finally said, "Your annoying.."

"What the-" The guy that he met earlier had picked him up with one hand and said to him, "Your annoying.."

"What did you just say? You think because i'm shorter you can treat me like some infant and pick me up when you want to? Well you cant! What the hell did i do to you! If you don't let me go we are going to have some problems." Sora took out his wooden sword and left the sword that he carried on his back in its sheath. "Trust me you do not want to mess with me." Sora didn't want to make any enemies so he put the wooden sword back on his waist. "How bout we start over. I'm going to tell you my name, again, and your going to tell me yours."

Smiling smugly at his mini speech, he quickly dropped him and walked away from him. A wooden sword.. he thought to himself, looking back he said coolly, "Names Kenji. And this-" pulling his sword out, "-Is masamune.. Earned from my teacher.." Sephiroth..
