Default Children of Heroes: First Encounter

First Encounter

All seemed quiet in the bustling, peaceful city of New York. Nothing out of the ordinary, no crime, just hustle, hustle, hustle as usual. The mayor had passed the edict that forbade superhuman activity so there would be no heroes flying through the skies today. If they ever needed help, they'd just call S.H.I.E.L.D. that's what they were for....right? Tha Age of Heroes has been lost and gone into the past. All damages have been cleared up and everything seemed safe. The heroes have all settled down somewhere in New York, if not then somewhere else where they'd be happy. Some have began raising kids. Others' kids have aleady been raised. But...how will this work out? Everyone is different and with it harbors a different story. The Age of Heroes it's gone. It's no longer about them. Now it's about..

The Children of Heroes.

The school bells were ringing at Queens High. Kids were passing each other in the hallways getting out of school. Everyone was eager to get out of class to hang out with their friends, be with their boyfriends or girlfriends, get ready for tomorrow's test they might have tomorrow, or just got out and be by themselves.

It was only about 3 pm and the school buses were lined up in front of the school. Most of the high schoolers there got on the buses, other's were riding their bikes home, driving home, or just walked home. That's what I did. I just walked home from school everyday. My name is Kevin Brock, son of Eddie and Anne Brock. We lived in Queens every since I was a born. We moved to other places in Queens but we never really left this place.

Wished we did. Because I hated being in here where there was crime going on, every where you step you just see thugs and gangs robbing places and you always here the sirens going off. My dad said it was worse then this back in his days. There were always super villians going around and cuasing havoc here and there were super heroes here too to stop them. I took my dad's word for it because back then, I think I know what he meant about super villians running around here.

Anyway, I just didn't want to be where there was crime every where you look. Because when ever something bad happens, it just makes me feel weird. Like I wanted to be apart of this and help out or to end it once and for all. My mind always feels like it wants to jump in and do bad things but also I've been thinking of helping people out when ever they are in trouble. But I don't. My dad said that the hero's rein was over, and with S.H.E.I.L.D. around there was never any need for them.

But I wish there was hero's. I wished that I could be hero one day. But without any around, I might just fall down to being a villian. I arrived later at home, walked up to the front porch of my house and went in. Lied down on the sofa and just relaxed myself when I heard police sirnes wailing. "Same old, same old." I said to myself.

The loud deafening bells of Queens High rang. They should make a better bell system Tyler thought to himself as he blocked out the noise. He walked out of the school and heard a wave of eager students running out excitingly talking their boring old social life, a group of girls walked by Tyler "Bye TK." they all said simultaneously, he simply grinned "Bye" he respond, they all giggled and walked away. I'll never understand them.. He thought as he walked away.

He continued to his house, it wasn't too far from where the school was, but he enjoyed the walk. He glanced over to the right, and watched the people walking in such a hurry, and communicating with cellular devices, he grimaced "Why can't people enjoy life, everyone is in such a hurry". He put his hand on the back of his head and grins; "Oh boy! Today is spaghetti night!! Wait.. Dad will eat the spaghetti before I even get there." Determination in his eyes flared up, "Not this time!" he rushes home as quickly as possible

Logan walked out of Queen's high and hopped on his Motorbike, it was really expensive and he was the only one riding one in the entire school. He revved it up and paseed one of the walking boys. "Still don't have any wheels hunh? Too bad for you!" Logan leighsure, son of Rouge and Quicksilver. He rode into the driveway and his mother was waiting. "How was school son?" "Good." Mom hugged me and I hugged her back she was always wearing gloves. "Dad's going to be home late but He said he's ordering pizza for supper. Alright?" "Sure."

Nick sprawled out on the lounge couch, stretching his legs out over the arm at the end opposite his head. His feet hung over the arm, swinging uncontrolled as he drifted of into a light catnap. As he fell into a deeper sleep, his mind started racing with images, and ideas, none of which really made any sense in their current state. When he awoke, he might try to figure out what they were, and if they meant anything, but until then, he would just enjoy the bright colors that flashed into his focus. They were very impressive, to say the least, and very much surreal.

But any hopes that he may have had of getting a good night's sleep would be cut short soon. His closest friend, John, was already closing in on the lounge, sporting the agency's logo upon his suit coat. he knew now exactly where he would find Nick. He had already checked the dining area, and the shooting range, which had always been among the easiest of places to find him. But since he was at neither, it was only sensible to check the lounge next. And sure enough, that was where he found Nick, with his shoes kicked off, and his hands firmly rested underneath his head like pillows. he was, even in sleep, smiling to himself about something. To John's regret though, he had to wake Nick up.

"Nick," he said, shaking him a bit, "time to get up." Nick merely responded with incoherent sleep talk."

John grabbed him by the collar, and shook him, now yelling. "NICK! WAKE UP!" He dropped his friend back on the couch, and pulled out his taser. "I really wish I didn't have to do this, but I have to wake you up some how." He placed the taser on Nick;s arm, and pulled on its trigger.

A surge of electricity pulsed through Nick's body, and the colors and figures that he had been looking at faded as he woke up from his nap, feeling the pain of he shock, as he became more aware of his surroundings. "What was that form John?" he asked, only a little annoyed, since he was impressed that his friend had had the guts to taser him awake.

"Sorry, but Jennings has been looking for you almost an hour now. He had me check your favorite spots for off duty activity. And now that I've found you, you can go and talk to him about your new assignment."

"What new assignment?" is it another drug bust, a terrorist threat?"

"Nope, not even close!"

"Well what is it?"

"He didn't tell ME what it was. He can't tell me, seeing as it's YOUR assignment."

"Oh yeah. I suppose I shouldn't keep him waiting for too long then. See ya later I guess." Leaping off of the couch, he strolled out of and away from the lounge, wondering what kind of assignment Jennings could have possibly gotten him this time around.

The mayor's stern voice boomed out from the TV like an explosion of pure fury. he was a thunderous man these days, and had taken the hammer down upon the city to get his policies through. Some people had even suspected that he was plotting to dissolve the entire city council, and give himself absolute power over public policies. And no one that was now living in New York could deny that they could imagine him pulling such an action out from his sleeve.

The talk today was the same talk that had been given time and time again by both public officials, and parents alike. The anti super human talks, that put down anyone that had even an ounce of abnormality in the. His words, while almost always the same, seemed to be gaining in their forcefulness, and influence. While the people feared what he was becoming, they couldn't help but support a man who put so much charisma into their words.

"These, so called, super humans, are super only in their powers. But their character is far from super!" His spit flung out from his mouth, hitting the lens of the camera that was propped up right in front of him. "They have been constantly placing themselves above the law, and leaving the city in RUINS!" as he said this last word, he slammed his clenched hand onto the podium in front of him.

"As the mayor, and primary protector of this fair city, and its people, I urge you all to not hide yourselves out of fear of a super human attack. Should you bear witness to ANY super human activity, contact the authorities immediately, and a special task force will be deployed to deal with the situation. If no authorities can be reached do not attempt to apprehend them yourselves..."

Whatever the rest of the mayor's speech was, Myriah wouldn't know. But it was no consequence to her what the mayor was saying about people like herself. She was posotive that nothing that he, or his task force could do to stop either herself, or other super humans. They'd really have to pull the budget off of its hinges to find a way to take down a super human. And last she checked, the economy wasn't supportive of such an investment. But then, the government hadn't been too smart with their money lately anyways.

Hangning upside down from a strand of web stuck to the living room ceiling, Myriah Parker smiled at the TV's program. "Keep on wasting your breath hun," she said, sticking out her right arm. Another strand of web shot out, and stuck itself to the screen of the TV, which she pulled off of its stand. It landed on the hardwood living room floor with a loud crash as shards of broken screen, and mechanical parts littered the floor.

Putting herself rightside up, she withdrew the web attacched to the ceiling, and walked straight passed the mess she had made. She could have cleaned it up, it wasn't like cleaning was hard for a super human. But she had a better option available to her. She could just make Ethan clean it up. He'd have to do, she wouldn't take any bacck talk on the matter.

Kevin layed on the couch and flipped through the channels on the television. Nothing good was on, just the same stuff about local crimes on the news broadcast. He turned the tv off and groaned. "Kevin, get up! You need to get ready." his mother said putting on some expensive earrings and wearing a dark green dress. "Your aunt's wedding is about an hour and I need you to get into that outfit I bought you."

Kevin groaned again. "Oh mom, I don't want to go. Besides you know me and dad hate weddings at churches. Because you know what happens to us when those bells start ringing." Kevin said back at his mother. Her mother sighed, "I know sweety, I tried to tell my sister to have the wedding some where else but Pual already reserved the church for it. Look you and your father would just go before the bells start ringing and I'll just video tape what you two missed." His mother said back to him.

"Okay." He said to her. He went into his room and put on a black tux his mother got him. He didn't like the sound of bells or anything that gave off a vibration of sound. Neither him or his father. But since he and his whole family is going to his aunt Katherine's wedding, he and his father have to grin and bare it.

"Okay I'm all dressed. Is dad home yet?" Kevin asked when he came down in his tux. "No, he should be getting home soon. Oh don't you look adorable. Much better then that other suit your father gave you. Ugh I just can't believe that man would do such a thing." Her mother said to him. "Look he just wanted to help mom. Can't you just let go." Kevin said to her. "No, I'm gonna keep going on about it until until those suits are gone." his mother said in a fit. "Mom, I'm okay. Don't worry about it." Kevin said to her trying to calm her down.

Back in the olden day, where heroes were able to fly and use their powers for good. To stop the supervillians in their tracks and preserve the peace. What happen to the so called Golden Age? Now everyone with a resemblance to a superpower is banned from using it as crime still runs rampant throughout the city. If only things could change, if only there was a way to show the world heroes are here to protect and serve the people. That day may never come though son....

The school bells of Queens High rang loudly waking up Bobby from his little daydream about the speech he had with his father just earlier that day. With a quick stretch and a slow grunt, Bobby made his way out of the classroom into the hallway where kids frolicked and laughed as they awaited clubs and other extracurricular activities. Bobby on the other hand had to get home and prepare for the game that night. It would be the championship final against a team Bobby had inadvertently forget the name of, but the Sabers had to win.

Slowly pushing his way through the crowd, Bobby finally made his exit out of the school. The cool, crisp breeze of the air gently tickled Bobby's face as he glanced up to look at the big clock in front of Queens High. It was 3:00 and the game started at 7 so he just below 4 hours to spare before returning. He knew this meant training with mom and dad for a little while, then a quick lunch before heading back for the game. As Bobby made his way to his car he noticed Logan riding out on his motorbike making his way home. "He is just as reckless as his father" Bobby spoke softly to himself, as he put the keys in the ignition and rode out towards home.

Ethan left school as quickly as possible. He's been having the same arguement with Myriah for a couple days now. There was no way he was going to believe mom and dad were on a business trip. Yeah right. He may have believed a lot of other stuff she said, but this was a little too far. Waving goodby to everyone he knew, Ethan quickly ran home, and slid his key into the keyhole opening the door. He walked in to see webs sprawled everywhere. And a broken TV set. He immediately guessed he was going to be forced to clean this up, seeing as he always was.

"Myriah, did you do this?" He asked her pointing at the mess knowing the obvious answer. "Can I ask you a question? Um..why?!"

Tyler running through the driveway and opened the door telepathically. He ran into the dining room, and pointed an accusing finger at his father "YOU! You ate the spaghetti!". His mother standing behind his father giggling at her son's goofiness. "I... Don't know what your talking about son." his father replied calmly. Reading his mind, he exclaimed "Aha! You did eat it!". His father sighing wearily, "TK. I've got more spaghetti here anyways." his mother Jean smiled sweetly at TK, And it isn't nice to read other peoples mind. She sent to TK, he looked at Jean with a guilty expression, Sorry mom. He replied telepathically. She simply giggled and handed Tyler a plate of spaghetti.

Scott then went and sat on the couch, watching the mayor's speech about super humans. He growled angrily. Jean realizing this, initiated conversation. "So. TK, I hear there is some, athletic event at school today." Tyler looking up at his mother, a strand of spaghetti sticking out of his mouth, "Oh.. Yeah. Some football game or. Something, I dunno" he said causally then went to feasting on his food. "Aren't you going to go?" Jean then asked. Tyler looking up once more, this time his face was covered in tomato sauce, "Um. I dunno, maybe I mean.." You should go, I'm sure there will be nice girls there. Jean said telepathically, Yeah. They will, they always go. Why difference does it make that they are there? he responded innocently. Jean giggling at his naivety. Tyler standing up, "All right, I'll go." he smiled confidently.

Kevin and his mother Anne were waiting for his father to walk in the front door. "God, where is your father? He should have been here by now from his work." Anne said pacing about. "Mom, don't worry. He probably was held up in traffic like always due to some crime." Kevin said to her. He heard the front door open and his father stepped in. "Hey you two." He said with a smile.

"Where were you Eddie? You know my sister's wedding is today and you said you'd be here." Anne said frantically. "Sorry Anne, I just stop to grab myself something to eat." Eddie said. "Oh my god. Eddie you didn't?" Anne started. "No, I just stopped by McDonalds after work. That was it. I swear." He said crossing his chest. "Okay, because remember last time you-." Anne was saying but Eddie cut her off. "Anne, look I'm sorry. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go change." he said to her.

Kevin's father walked out in the middle and his work clothes started to change into a tux. "There. Now let's go." Eddie said to me and my mom. "I wish you don't have to use that thing. You know how much I hate it." Anne said worryingly. "Mom, relax. Dad know's what he's doing." Kevin said to her. "Yes. But sometimes he doesn't." his mother said.

We all got into the convertable and drove off to the church where my aunt's wedding was held. We passed by Queens High, my school and it looks like a football game was about to begin there. They drove past it and came up to the church that was only a few blocks away from it. "Well here we are. I'll get us some seats." his mother said as he went into the church. "Well this is it son. How do you feel?" Eddie asked him. "I'm okay dad. Don't worry, I got this undercontrol." Kevin said back to his father.

"Okay. But if you feel anything just let me know." his father said to him again. "Dad, I said I'm okay. Man your almost as worse as mom about it." Kevin said back to his father. They both walked off into the church and Kevin gave a slight gulp to himself. I hope nothing happens once those bell rings. He thought to himself.

Ryan just got out of school and he was already tired and wanted to get home already. Then like everyday his private car that picked him up passed by and Ryan got in it. As he got in and closed the door three girls came up to the window and said bye to him. He just nodded and smiled without looking at them and the car drove away.

"Just like your father arent you." Said Ryans driver.

"Yeah I guess." Said Ryan and they both laughed for three seconds.

They got quiet and Ryan already knew that those girls, and many others, only liked him because of his parents money and famous background. But Ryan was thinking more about the suit and wondering if there would even come a time when he could use it. But after that new law came about he thought his wish would never come true...

Or would it?

Myriah looked out the front window within their dining room to see that Ethan was dashing his way towards the house. he was pretty fast, even if he didn't have any powers, though she figured she had to expect him to work for greater strength. Maybe he'd be able to become half super. She laughed her own idea. No one could be half super. There was only super human, and non-super human. Any in between still fell into the non-super spectrum. It was that simple.

The sound of the key being placed in the door filed into her ears, and then the sound of the lock being turned, and the door swining open as Ethan came in. She stood in the front hall, watching him as he looked at the broken TV. He looked up at her in his inquisitive expression, and asked the question that was most expected by his sister.

"Myriah, did you do this?"

She gave her brother a false smile, the one that she always gave him when she gave him a chore to do. "Ethan, little bro. Why would I want to break our TV? Now, be a dear and clean it up." She turned around briefly, and wheeled around on the spot and added. "and I don't want to here any moaning, groaning, or whining while you do it, so," she held out her hand in web slinging position, and shot a glob of it at his mouth.

Nick andered down the labyrinth of corridors that comprised the agency's New York branch deep underneath the city. To anyone that wasn't a member of the agency, each hall way would appear to lead to the same exact spots, and the compound itself was riddled with flase doors that opened to walls, and marked halls that lead only to dead ends. The trick behind was in fact to not follow any of the markers. At least, that was sometimes the trick. The entire set up in that respect was inconsistent, in that the system for finding one's way around was constantly altering to keep the confusion of intruders running high.

After a series of complex passages, and turning around and back tracking, Nick came out at his first "landmark" in finding his way. It was portion of hallwahy, roughly fifty feet in length, and twenty in width. Upon the leftside wall was a row of 4' by 4' tempered glass windows that overlooked what appeared to be a large, factory room. But it wasn't filled with trivial items for common consumers. Within the research department, engineers, chemists, and biologists were working tirelessly on developing the next ground breaking device, that the agents would be receiving upon their completion.

Beyond this section of hallway was the administrative department, in which the higher ups all had their offices set up. Each agency field leader had his or her own office as well. But these ones were smaller than the adiminstrative offices. But that wasn't a problem to the lead agents, since they were hardly ever in their offices to begin with. They really only served as a place to drop their belongings before going missions, and to keep a few small comforts in case the agency had to keep eveeryone in on call for a domestic problem.

As he wound through the administrative sector, he came upon a door that bore his own namesake. Upon the door, writen out in bold black lettering, was the name, "James Bond", and the title of, "International Relations". Nick laughed hard at the title that his father had been given these days. He was about as good for international relations as a tank. In fact, given his track record, a tank may have in fact made for a better Relations official than his father.

Cleansing himself of this hilarity, Nick continued through the maze of halls, until he came to the only unmarked door in the sector. The door itself blended in so well with the walls in which it was framed that it was pracctically invisible to the naked eye. One had to really look to see that it was a door, and not just wall. Though it was unmarked for security reasons, everyone who had been in it knew who's office it was.

But when he knocked on the door, no answer to him was to be heard in the silence of the hallway. Obviously Jennings wasn't in the office yet. She must still be trying to find me. John probably hasn't gotten to her with the word that he's found me yet.

Suddenly, without notice, his hand shot up in front of his mouth to block the blob of web being fired at him. Despite that effort, the web was pretty powerful, sticking the back of his hand to his mouth, covering it as Myriah wanted. Ethan gave a roll of his eyes and an inward sigh. It was going to be pretty hard cleaning all this up with one hand only. His sister was always doing that though, webbing his mouth shut. It was a usual routine, it was just odd how his hand happened to shoot up like that. Maybe a reflex? Ethan shrugged it off, thengrabbed a marker. He began writing on the wall. He was going to have to clean it up anyway.

Can you take my hand off please? I can't clean with it stuck to my mouth like this. Oh, and when I'm finished it's alright if I go to the football game right? Are you going?

He quickly scrawled, on the wall, trying to get past webs and things like that.

The bell rang at Queens high and, like usual, everybody went out in a rush. They all wanted to hang out with there friends or get ready for the game tonight. Everybody except Kaine Howlett. He wanted to all that stuff but he was trapped in on the top floor of the school with detention. This wasn't anything new to Kaine considering he got a detention at least once every other week. The son of James Howlett and Emma Frost sat there and did the useal thing he did in detention: reading other people's thoughts. This was by far his favorite way to kill time. The gossip was especially juicy in detention.

"I cant beleive I'm stuck with these stupid kids. Why can't we just lock them out at night??" Thought Mr. West the man responsible for supervising the detention kids. Throughout the year Kaine has dicsovered that Mr. West hates kids and only took this job for the days off.

"I wish I could be with Ethan right now. If I'm in here than how could make sure he doesn't cheat on me?" Rachel Ming thought. Everybody in school knew that Ethan and Rachel were going out, (everybody except Ethan) so 50% of her thoughts were about him. Kaine spent the next half hour just listening to people until Mr.West finally snapped and released the kids early.

"Well that was a waste of half an hour. The game doesn't start for a while might as well go home." Kaine quickly gathered a couple of hot girls to keep him company and started on his way home, where he would probably get murdered by his dad for getting detention....

An hour after the spaghetti incident, Tyler went upstairs to change his spaghetti ridden shirt. He put on a shirt with a Phoenix design and grinned. He walked downstairs, "I'll be home later guys." he spoke as he walked past his mother and father. He stood outside of his house, shielding his eyes from the blinding sun. "You sure you don't need a ride?" asked Scott. Startled Tyler turned around quickly, he stared at his grinning dad wearing those distinctive red sunglasses, "Uh. No I'm fine, I need the exercise." he patted his flat stomach, Scott simply shrugged and went back inside, Tyler sighed in relief, he lied to his dad; he hated lying, he really just wanted to practice his telekinetic powers, after all the game wouldn't start for a while he figured practice would do him some good.

He walked towards the school, he looked around to see if anyone was around, nope all clear. He took out a silver ball from his pocket, and began levitating it, he then made it orbit around him several times. He looked up ahead and saw a guy surrounded by girls, he quickly put the silver ball in his pocket. He grinned at the group, making several of the girls swoon. Walked past them and headed to the football field.
