Pokemon: Summit Nine

[Relliks Ban]

Trea watched as the two pokemon stood on the stage. "No trainer?" he asked himself. Sableye looked up at Trea from his lap. "I'm as confused as you are Sableye." He said to the pokemon in his lap. All of a sudden a trainer and her Glaceon began making their way down the bleachers. "Well now. An even more sudden entry." The pokemon trainer said in a whisper. Trea began looking aroud the room, the various trainers there with their pokemon. But one trainer in particular, caught his eye. He had an Absol with him. "Absol?" He asked himself. 'I fought one with Weavile a while back.' He thought, remembering a past battle. "Weavile." Trea whispered in a low tone. "Now I can't wait to get to Summit Nine. I wonder how much Weavile's grown in the past year." He said.

It was exactly a year ago that Weavile went off with a group of Sneasel and Weavile. He went to train after loosing to Absol so long ago. "But it's all for the better." Trea whispered. "Now, to watch the battle." He said, turning to the arena, waiting to see which two pokemon the girl would send out. And not to his surprise, she sent out two pokemon that would most likely give her the upper hand. 'I understand Meganium. It will most likely wipe out Vaporeon pretty quickly, but Noctowl. It's the same type as Xatu. What does she have up her sleeves?' He thought to himself, eager as ever for the battle to start.

[Karate]

Vaporeon cooed as Meganium entered the arena. "Ganium!" The green leaf type called out. Seconds later, its partner for the double battle appeared. "Toruu!" A noctowl appeared from a red light.

The Xatu stood there patiently, waiting for his opponent's next move.

The Vaporeon simply waited for the opponent. It blunk a few times and said "Poooreon!" [Think Vaporeon's cry in the games]

[Rhapsody Flows]

Now that her pokemon were out, Cam got down to work.

No point in charging head-on without a plan, the trainer thougt. So. . . I'm gonna start out with Xatu. He's a psychic. Also flying, like Noctowl. Plus, Speed-wise, Xatu might have the upperhand in this battle. And that Vaporeon . .. with Meganium, it shouldn't be a problem for him. But if it happens to know an ice move, that could be bad for Noctowl. Alright then. Not really much of a plan at all, but the battle is just starting.

Cam nodded with a deteremined look on her face. "'Kay, Noctowl, you go on ahead and use Steel Wing on Xatu. Meganium, Razor Leaf in Vaporean's direction." Noctowl was the first to respond to its command given. It flapped its wings and then took off flying toward the Xatu. Both of his wings began to glow a shining white as the owl swiftly soared across the stage.

Meganium was next to attack. The grass-type started to gallop toward the Vaporeon. "Ganium!" Focusing all of his energy onto his feet, Meganium sprung high into the air. It pulled its head to the side and then let out a roar as sharp leaves emitted from around the pokemon. They swirled like saucers and took aim at the Vaporeon below.

[Karate]

Vaporeon opened its mouth and sprayed Ice Beam at Meganium while it was in the air. Xatu's eyes glowed red. It began to use Psychic. Telekinetic waves moved through the air like a ripple in a pond.

[Rhapsody Flows]

The leaves hit dead on at the Ice Beam, causing them to freeze in place. The leaves drop to the ground one by one as Meganium also landed back on the stage with a thud. Meanwhile, Noctowl soon found itself shrouded in a blue aura. It felt itself come to an abrupt halt, only mere inches away from his opponet. It flapped its wings, trying in vain to get itself under control.

Suddenly, the owl was thrusted violently to the side. He landed on the stage violently and skidded a few feet before coming to a stop near the Meganium. The pokemon lay dazed for a moment, wings unfolded at both of his sides, before picking itself back up. He hovered in the air for and then settled down on one foot.

Guess that didn't work out too well. . . OK then, let's try something different. "Alright, Noctowl, Aerial Ace! Meganium, Body Slam!" Noctowl took to the skies yet again. His wing glowed white as he aimed his attack at the Vaporean this time. But at the last second, he swerved out of the way, revealing Meganium that galloped toward Vaporeon. He pushed himslef up into the air and then landed hard on the Vaporeon using all of its body weight.

[Karate]

Vaporeon slid back a few inches from the Body Slam. It opened it's mouth upwards and water began to spray. It was Rain Dance. The battlefield began collecting water. Vaporeon sighed with relief as the droplet hit its skin.

Xatu again used Psychic, this time aiming directly at Meganium. The Psychic waves knocked the grass type back a few feet. The rain was collecting on the floor. There was a crater from the first battle on the specialized field.

"Poreon" Vaporeon jumped in the collecting water pool. After wading for a few moments, Vaporeon leapt back beside Xatu only to release another Ice Beam on the floor. The stage floor was completely covered in ice.

Blaire looked around the ship, leaning against a rail adjacent from the stage where the double battle was taking place. She yawned, stretching slightly as she heard a light crick in her shoulders. She had sort of detoured toward the buffet when she first got on the ship, but somehow she got lost and ended up outside. Figures.

But she didn't care. She was too excited about the upcoming tournament. Blaire had half a mind to go see why the captain of the ship was taking so damn long to get there. But that would be getting ahead of herself. Besides, she was content with watching the double battle taking place on the stage. But as she looked around, she took notice of the first time a trainer watching the battle, a Sableye at its side.

"Hmm..." Blaire looked around and spotted her Gengar, which she had let out to locate the buffet in the first place, coming back toward her from where it had been sinking along the ground. It came back up out of the ground, making a gesture with its hands that suggested that it knew where the location was. But Blaire shook her head and pointed over at the boy and his Sableye.

"Lets go meet them. We should get to know our competition, after all." she suggested. Genger made a gesture with his hands again that Blaire seemed to be able to interpret. "Well of course we're going to sneak up on him, otherwise it wouldn't be interesting." Blaire said with a roll of the eyes, causing Gengar to grin. She grinned too as she came over quickly but quietly, going around behind him. Blaire hoped that the Sableye wouldn't tip him off right away. She stood about a foot back from him and then gave Gengar a thumbs up. It nodded as it sunk into the floor and moved in front of Trea, jumping up out of the ground with a "Gengar!" and up close right in his face!

"Well isn't this exciting." The pokemon trainer said to himself. So far, the battle wasn't too interesting, a few frozen leaves here and there, nothing to get worked up about to soon. "I can't wait for this thing to kick into action." As Trea spoke, Vaporeon had used Rain Dance, forcing rain to fall from who knows where. Trea looked down at the pokemon in his lap, catching the trainer's attention by tugging at his shirt. "What is it Sableye?" He asked his pokemon, looking in the direction Sableye was pointing. He noticed a girl, oddly standing there. "Well now. Good eye Sableye, you managed to notice a-" His words were cut off by one word. "Gengar!" Trea jumped, falling back onto a women who yelled at him. "What the hell!?" He yelled, first in surprise, then anger, but quickly began laughing. "That was genius!" He yelled, looking for the trainer who's pokemon had scared him.


The women pushed Trea off of her, forcing him to fall on the floor. Trea looked around at the attention he had caused, or rather the Gengar had. Sableye lay on the floor next to him. Trea stood up, Sableye jumping onto his head. "Well now, that was quite funny." He said with a grin, brushing himself off. "Wasn't it Sableye?" He asked, looking up. Sableye began laughing. "Who did that?" He whispered, looking for anyone out of the ordinary. Then Trea remember Sableye pointing out the female. "It has to be her." He said, looking over at her with a smile.

[Rhapsody Flows]

Jeez, this battle was starting to get heated, and the Xatu and Vaporeon were proving that they were no ordinary team. Fortunately, Cam liked that. Having a fun match here and there was just fine with her. But the only thing that she didn't approve of was the move that the Vaporeon used: Rain Dance and Ice Beam.

At first, the rain in the area, Cam and her pokemon were beginning to get the trainer and her pokemon soaked. The trainer figured she could clear it out with Maganium's own weather effect, Sunny Day, but the teen started to think otherwise. This rain might be able to come in handy some time during the battle. Then again, it might only help the opposing team's side, but who knew. But after the Rain Dance, the Vaporeon used Ice Beam on the battle field, turning the stage completely icy.

Meganium struggled to regain his balance on the icy platform, but managed while staggering shakily to its feet. Once the pokemon regained his posture, it rocked his head back and forth, showing that it wasn't down yet. Noctowl swooped down from up above and landed right on top of the grass-type's back.

It's gonna be hard for Meganium to move around with the stage like this, Cam thought. Guess, it's time I try something different."Meganium, use Razor Leaf again. This time, shroud both Xatu and Vaporeon in it." Meganium nodded and Noctowl hovered off of the pokemon's back, leaving it room to do his attack.

Meganium produced another wail and let its long neck go in a circles as sharp leaves again came from behind the grass pokemon. The attack emitted more leaves than last time; and instead of taking direct aim at the two pokemon, they swirled around the Xatua and Vaporeon in numerous numbers while packed tightly together. There was no space for any type of pokemon - skinny, or small - to escape. The only way out was up. Cam took a quick moment to glance at Noctowl. "'Kay, you know how this one goes, right buddy?" "Ruu...," the pokemon replied while bobbing his head, signaling that he understood his trainer. The trainer smiled and looked forward

"Noctowl, Zen Headbutt!" The pokemon did not hesitate to do as it was ordered. He flew upward as his trident-shaped feathers on his head began to glow a crystal blue. When he finally came to a stop, he was high above the battle field and over the tornado-like Razor Leaf attack. But because of his bird's eye view of the ground below, he could see right inside funnel of leaves, and easily caught sight of the two pokemon who were surrounded by the attack. Noctowl chirped and then tucked his wings tightly in, letting himself spiral right inside the funnel and taking aim for both the Xatu and Vaporeon. He dived downward, making sure that if anything were to hit the two pokemon, it would be his trident feathers and not his beak.

Devek glanced over at the source of the commotion. More kids. He shook his head as a sigh escaped his lips. The battle was okay, but in the end, it was the same as any other battle he had seen before.

Just before he felt about leaving, he heard a "Sol..." come from next to him. He looked down to see Absol sitting down by his side. Apparently, the pokemon had gotten out of the room and made his way to Devek. Instead of showing any real shock at Absol's sudden appearance, Devek simply asked, "You closed the door, right?" Absol nodded. Devek slightly chuckled as he and Absol began to watch the battle again.

Blaire and Gengar laughed out loud at the kid's expression. That had gone better than she had thought! But when he looked around in her direction, she and Gengar pretended to look innocent. After a few seconds she turned to Genger and wagged a finger. "Shame on you, sneaking up on innocent people like that!" Gengar looked quite abashed, or at least it was pretending to be. She giggled before coming over, her Gengar following along next to her.

"Sorry about that. I don't know where he gets his crazy ideas from." she said, shooting a pointed look at Gengar, who threw its hands up in the air as if to say, "I wouldn't know". Blaire rolled her eyes before looking back towards Trea. "Well, I'm Blaire Jacuzzi. And...you've already met my Gengar here." she jerked a thumb at her Gengar who, a minute ago, had been pretending to look at its non-existent nails with vague interest, but now looked up and smiled its large pointy toothed smile and held up two fingers like a peace sign. Blaire sighed before lightly thumping Gengar on the head with her fist. Despite the fact that Gengar was a ghost and it probably didn't hurt, it put a hand up to its head and rubbed at the spot, glaring at her a little.

"So what's your name?" she asked the boy.

[Karate]

"Up Vaporeon." Xatu called to it's partner telepathically. "Right" The water eeveelution nodded in copliance.

Vaporeon opened its mouth and used Ice Beam on the bird's wings. Xatu focused it's Psychic powers and sent the leaves away.

Xatu remained motionless as it assessed the situation. "Are we to remain on the defensive? Are we ever going to attack?" Xatu mentally asked its partner.

"No, we wait for the to expose their weakness again. Let them get a sense of victory. Then we snatch it from them." Vaporeon sounded ruthless. Though the two were talking mentally, it was evident that Vaporeon was the leader.

"That's not what we're here for."

"For a trust issue; right?."

"Then why don't you trust me?"

"I do. I'm trusting you with my life. While I'm trusting you to protect me, I'm hoping you trust me." Vaporeon blunk watching for the next move.

[Relliks Ban]

Trea watched as the girl acted as if she hadn't noticed the huge ordeal. She then made her way over, and the first thing he noticed of the girl was her hair. "Red." He whispered. This reminded him of the trainer he had fought a few years ago. His name was red. 'He paired himself with quite a strong team.' Trea thought to himself. 'Poliwhirl, Pikachu, Venasaur. They were tough.' Trea looked back at the girl after daydreaming of previous battles. "Sorry about that. I don't know where he gets his crazy ideas from." Trea smiled.


"Crazy ideas eh?" He whispered, looking up at Sableye on top of his head. The first thought that came to mind was his first mishap on the boat, when Sableye tied Raiden's shoes together. He then looked back at the girl as she spoke again. "Well, I'm Blaire Jacuzzi. And...you've already met my Gengar here." Trea looked at the ghost pokemon with a smile. Blaire had then thumped the ghost on the head with her fist. The pokemon trainer smiled. 'They seem to have a really close relationship.' He thought, thinking of his Weavile.

"So what's your name?"

Trea looked up at Blaire. "I'm Trea, and this is...." Trea reached up at Sableye and held him in front of Blaire. "Sableye." Trea smiled, and the ghost pokemon ran up Trea's arms, until he reached his head.

Blaire smiled. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Trea. And your Sableye as well." she added as she watched the Sableye climb up on Trea's head. The Sableye sort of reminded her of her Gengar, not just by the fact that they were both ghosts. They both seemed playful. She vaguely wondered what other kind of Pokemon Trea had.

Maybe she would get the chance to battle him in the tournament. Speaking of which, she turned to survey the double battle for a minute. She wasn't sure who was winning exactly, but it seemed to be heating up. She turned back to Trea. "So you're here for that tournament, right? How tough do you think the competition is going to be?" she asked him.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Trea. And your Sableye as well."

Trea smiled up at Sableye. "As it is for us to meet you and Gengar." Trea said, looking at Gengar with a smile. It seemed like a very interesting, and mischievous pokemon. "We've been through a lot in such a short time." He said, referring to Sableye. "But he's not my starter pokeomn. Sableye is my older brother's pokemon. He lent him to me until I got my Weavile back from his training." Trea said with a smile. "So you're here for that tournament, right? How tough do you think the competition is going to be?" Trea's face became serious. "The guy I fought, Raiden, he was pretty tough. He had a tough Aipom." He said, remembering how hard it was to beat it. But in the end, he really hadn't. The battle ended mainly because it would have ended nowhere with the type match up.

"As for everyone else, I haven't really seen anyone as a threat this early." He said, watching as Vaporeon used Ice Beam on the Noctowl, and Xatu cleared away Meganium's leaves. Trea looked at the crowd of people, a few of them giving him dirty looks. "Oh. I forgot." he said, remembering that they were standing up. Trea sat down on the bleachers, as to get out of the way of the spectators.
