Kingdom Hearts: The Alternative Paths

"Tell me, have you heard of Kingdom Hearts?" Sleif heard Sylfae mention as she began to walk off. "I would think that anyone who knows the about the keyholes and blades, would also have knowledge on the heart of all worlds!" Sleif replied to Sylfae.

"Any particular reason, you mention this?" Sleif said as he continued to stand in the same spot.

Trying to catch her breath, she listened as the boy exclaimed, "Te - Tenshi?! Is it really you?!" as he leaped out from the bed and knelt down in front of her. Feeling that he had then placed both hands of her cheeks. "It. . . really is you. . ." whispered Derick as he removed his hands from her cheeks and lend a helping hand, lifting her from the floor and helped her to stand back up onto her feet.

Smiling at the offer, she gently and gingerly took his hand as a white-hot pain shot up her hand. Cringing, she was able to hide it well enough that she prayed he hadn't notice. Meeting his gaze, she smiled softly as he examined her body checking for bruises or scratches, she silently said a pray of thanks since he hadn't checked her right shoulder. "I'm so glad you're here. . ." he added after the brief silence.

Nodding her head, Tenshi was about to reply, when out of the blue, Derick suddenly hugged her close. "This. . . really isn't a dream. . . you're actually here. . ." Wide-eyed, she stared up at him since she was about half a head shorter, she knew that this felt right yet, it felt wrong at the same time! Groaning inwardly, she was unsure if she should return the embrace or not. Tenshi wrapped her arms timidly around him. "Nice to see you too, Derick." She murmured.

"None. It is of little interest to me at this moment in time..." She said, but her glittering eyes revealed the truth.
She turned away. She had something to pick up.

Sylfae wandered through the remains of Destiny Islands. The place was destroyed. The clear-blue sea was now murky and sickened, and the green palmtrees that used to stand noblely over the shoddy, but well cared for wooden boardwalk were now purple, diseased and limping plants hand hung, defeated, over the rotten corpse of the boardwalk. Shadows swarmed everywhere, parasitically sucking the life out of anything still living.
She wandered the Islands, and collected two drifting scents from the wind. Only the barest traces remained.
"Bane... Azazel... Where are you?" She whispered into the breeze.

walked into the infirmary to patch up his cuts & bruises.

Tora groaned in pain when the doctor had to put some alcohal on his cuts. After the burning feeling went away the doctor placed bandages on Tora's cuts. When the doctor finished Tora walked over & leaned up against a wall. I have a question but "How are we going to get out of this place & get back home?" Tora asked anyone

Derick realized what he had done, now flourished as he felt Tenshi return the embrace but in a rather timid fashion.

"Nice to see you too, Derick." she had murmured shortly after his random outburst which only made the feeling inside even more awkward than it already was.

Quickly, the boy finally released Tenshi and backed away just a tad bit as he scratched the back of his head while looking straight down at the floor, embarrassed. His cheeks were a tint of red at this point which was practically the reason as to why he kept his gaze on the floor rather than his friend who stood in front of him. He just hoped she didn't realize that he was actually blushing because Derick was afraid of her asking what was wrong considering he had no idea how to respond if Tenshi were to ask.

Chuckling nervously, Derick managed to calm down as he then broke the silence by saying, "So. . . sorry about that. I . . . I really don't know what came over me. I guess - I guess that's how much I worried about you." Lifting up his head now that his cheeks returned to their normal skin tone, Derick simply gave Tenshi a faint smile. "Though. . . I was wondering. What happened to you this entire time?"

Draco sat up and immediately felt a strong dizzy feeling come over him, like the feeling that you get when you get up the next day after having a big night out drinking. "Careful there, you're still severely dehydrated" the solider said to Draco. "Um could you get me some more water?" Draco asked, "Sure thing" the solider said as he went away before coming back with a large bottle of water. Draco began to drink it like crazy, never in all his life did he think that water could ever taste so good.

He got up half an hour later and felt a lot better, "Thanks for the water" Draco said, "No problem" the solider replied. Draco looked outside, it seemed to be getting dark, "Maybe you should stay here tonight" the solider said. "Yeah, I don't really know what else to do" Draco said as he sat back down on the bed as he thought of where the other might be.

"So. . . sorry about that. I . . . I really don't know what came over me. I guess - I guess that's how much I worried about you."

Smiling she listened to her friend's apology. Shaking her head she grinned as she brushed a strand of loose hair away from her face. Moving over to comfort her friend, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder as she lifted his head to meet her gaze. Returning the faint smile she flinched as he asked, "Though. . . I was wondering. What happened to you this entire time?"

"Busy, trying to find my way here." she replied, her voice and emotions heavily guarded. Staring at him she asked in turn, "What have you been doing this whole time?"

Feeling her hand being placed upon his shoulder, Derick began to loosen all the tension from his body and calmed down within an instant. Thing is, he didn't even know why he did in the first place. Tenshi was just a friend to him, right? All she did was just put her hand on his shoulder and there was nothing so wrong about that, right? So then why was he even feeling all awkward around her all of a sudden? Derick and Tenshi were friends since their childhood and he never acted like this in front of her, ever. Well, whatever it was, he figured that the feeling would go away sooner or later.

Shows how oblivious Derick can be when the answer was right in front of him.

"Well. . . I really can't explain." replied Derick as he placed a hand under his chin, tapping it with his index finger. "After my "father" threw me into the vortex back at Destiny Islands, I woke up here in Manhattan. Then my "father" made another visit and wiped out all of the Heartless and soldiers that fought here but someone. . . I lived through it." he began to explain, lowering his hand and glanced back over to Tenshi. "I was brought to a base that lies in the heart of this city and when I awoke, I over heard there being a keyhole of some sort lying within the Statue of Liberty but there are doubts about going seeing how this place is infested with Heartless."

"Frankly. . . if it means risking my life just to stop them from coming back here, then I'll go and find that Keyhole even if I would have to do it by myself." Derick showed a different side of him, something that was never seen before all these years. He was exposing a side of a "warrior" which was what a true wielder of the Keyblade possessed.

"I'm not going to let what happened back on our home repeat itself here."

She knew that Derick wouldn't hurt her but she still did apologize when ever she did something wrong. Smiling glad to see her friend was back. She was slightly worried back there by the change, letting her facial expression and eyes become emotionless once again, she nodded in agreement as Derick stated boldly, "I'm not going to let what happened back on our home repeat itself here."

Tora walked over to Derick & Tenshi "Well what now?" he asked "I think we should go to the source of the heartless". He then walked over to a nearby water fountain & drunk some fresh spring water. A few mins later Tora walked over to the window & looked out into the area.

Derick was taken aback by Tenshi's out burst, surprised as he cocked an eyebrow. She never had raised her voice to him and this was practically a shocker seeing how it was the first time she had done so. Quickly, the look on her face showed she never meant to raise her voice in the first place as Tenshi quickly apologized soon afterwards.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout at you like that. I truly didn't mean to lose my temper just a moment ago."

His lips curling into a faint grin, Derick let a small chuckle escape his lips as he shook his head a tad bit. He just shrugged it off and said, "It's all right, Tenshi. Apology accepted."

"Well, what now?" asked Tora who approached the two. "I think we should go to the source of the Heartless". added Derick's friend who took a small gulp of water at a near-by water fountain.

Letting out a sigh, a look of uncertainty was now etched on Derick's face. He bowed his head just a bit as crossed his arms at the same time. Silence filled the room for a brief moment as the boy decided to kill the silence with a response that he had thought over. "Tora. . . Tenshi. . . I'm not trying to sound rude or anything on those lines but I decided to go find the Keyhole by myself. I prefer if you two go meet up with the others where it's safe. . ." he ended up telling them, letting out a sigh afterwards.

"I'm sorry but I'm concerned for all of your safety. God forbid, I don't want anything bad happening to any of you." Derick said with a serious tone as a smirk appeared on his face. "And besides, there's no need to worry about me. I got my trusty Keyblade with me so I'll be fine." he added as he summoned his Keyblade and let it rest onto his right shoulder before making his way towards the exit of the Infirmary.

Jumping she let out a squeak since she hadn't noticed Tora before. Her eyes once again blazing she glared at him and spat, "Why did you d ----?"

Before she could finish their friend interputed with: "Tora. . . Tenshi. . . I'm not trying to sound rude or anything on those lines but I decided to go find the Keyhole by myself. I prefer if you two go meet up with the others where it's safe. . ."

Looking at him in surprise she was about to retort but didn't as he explained, "I'm sorry but I'm concerned for all of your safety. God forbid, I don't want anything bad happening to any of you." Knowing he would be okay with that smirk that had appeared on his face. She forced a half-hearted one and asked softly, "But what about your own safety?"

"And besides, there's no need to worry about me. I got my trusty Keyblade with me so I'll be fine."

Sighing at his reply she hid the hurt look. Shaking her head, she looked at Tora with a frown on her lips. "I'm sorry but I must really be going." She murmured, hiding the pain as a pulse of pain went shooting up her arm. Grinning at her friend she whipped around and dashed out of the Infirmary, she bolted into the shadows.

Gasping she winced at the sting, willing the Darkness to swallow her and take her to Hallow Bastion. She stumbled out and looked around. "Where have you been?"

Whipping around at the bellow. She appeared smaller than usual, the size of a six-year-old that had just been quite getting into the cookies. Doing her best to stop herself from trembling she stated firmly, "Out, the Heartless are in that little world you wanted them in, I bet they're at the Statue of Liberty now taking over the keyhole."

"Good, but you were speaking with your 'friends'. See they don't care for you anymore. Most of all that wretched boy, Derick, is that his name? He was only faking it for your own protection, he thinks of you as a pest that most been taken care of. After all, isn't that all guys opinions on girls like you?"

Startled that he would ever think that, she shook her head and growled darkly, "He would never think that! We've been friends since we were kids, we had always been there when the other one needed them most! Don't you dare insult him, if you do I won't do as you tell me."

A smirk coming to her lips the woman leaned in and whispered, "Is that so? I know ways to make you do it. I know who you are, and I know where your original home world is plus it's name." Freezing since she had always longed to know that. She knew that even her closest friend also longed to know the truth as well. Seeing that she had unwillingly pleased Maleficent by her reaction, she cursed softly under her breath.

Whipping around she stalked off but once again froze as Maleficent continued in the same soft tone, "If you and your friend is as close as you say, than why isn't he here with you?"

Snarling at this jab she spun and retorted darkly, "Because it is none of your bussiness what my friends are doing. Do you understand? Is that good enough for you Mistress ----"

Before she could mouth off anymore, she saw that Maleficent was standing in front of her. Stiffing she once again felt the feeling of being slammed against the icy wall. Shrieking in rage since she had let this happen, she raised her hand to smack the one that was holding her throat. She felt the white-hot pain that shot to her branded shoulder.

Derick saw that Tenshi had ran passed him, wondering where on Earth she was heading for. Without calling for her, he silently followed her so that she wouldn't catch on only to find that she ended up disappearing into the shadows. He looked around the area and even shouted for her to come up but all he got out of a response was the mere silence. Something was definetly not right here. There was no way Tenshi could possibly disappear into thin air just like that unless she somehow gained the ability to do so. Whatever is the case, Derick was now left alone once more, letting out a sigh now that Tenshi had vanished.

"Where did she go?" was on the boy's mind as he headed over to the large gate of the fortress, several vehicles entering once it had opened. This was it. It was now or never. If Derick wasn't quick enough then the gate would close and the guards would never let him out of the fortress itself. And so, he sprinted towards the opened gate as he ran passed the guards that stood in front of it.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?! You're going to die out there!" the first guard shouted.

"Quick! Report this to Commander Ryman! Pronto!" ordered the second guard.

Derick ran down the deserted streets of Manhattan, on his way to the Statue of Liberty but this would be a long trip as it lied out in the ocean. How he would reach that destination was unknown at this point but the boy will figure out something. . . hopefully.

She glared at the woman in front of her, loathing in her eyes as she spat, "Let me go!"

Chuckling she released her grip on the girl which caused her to colapse on the floor. Sucking in lungfulls of air as she brought her knees to her chest. Trembling she glared at her 'mistress' as she struggled to get her breath back, mustering enough strength to struggle to her feet and stay there. She dusted off the dirt that had clung to her clothes, meeting the lady's gaze with a steady one which held no trace of the girl before hand.

"I would like to have a look around the castle and world. Would that be alright Maleficent?"

Seeing the nod in approval, she bolted away to avoid the wench. Turning a corner she glanced around the dark, cold painted walls. Closing her eyes she listened to vocies that sounded familier but yet unfamilier. Shaking her head as she opened them she asked no one, "What's going on?"
