Rep Power: 0 ![]() | The Comercialism of Harry Potter is very annoying...there are toys, toothbrushes, computer games based on the movies and loads more. I love the books but i am geting rather bored of Harry Potter because everywhere i go, he's there! |

| Bang! | So, I finally decided to read this topic. The first page was flames, and for some reason, the hype about HP is still here. When I first heard about the series, I wasn't interested in it because the cover art for the first book was awful. Yes, I go by cover arts often. That's why you want a good cover artist cause it is the cover that pulls people in. Usually. Or just a blank book works. Anyways. My fifth grade teacher made me read it for school, so that's how I got into it. We also read the other two. The fourth book came out that summer, I went in and read it, I was so excited. I am so glad I got to read it, the fourth book was the best. Then I got the fifth book, dissapointment, Harry's a snob. Sixth book I bought (I own that one and the 2nd, which my sister dropped in the bathtub. >.<) and read. It took me forever to actually get into it, so it took me all weekend to read it. Though once I hit about halfway I got into it..but, eh, I didn't even cry at the end. I felt like I should, but I didn't. Seemed too...overdone. I believe the first one was the first book she'd published. Took her a couple of tries to find a publisher. I don't even know when it came out, I didn't hear about it till after the first three were out, silly me. Uhm, I haven't read it in a while, so yeah. Like I said, it was just a simple first good book, good and interesting, but not outstanding. The acting for the first movie sucked. The second book was pretty good, like I said, I haven't read it in a while. The acting was getting better, and it is a good movie. They stuck to the story pretty decently. The third one, meh, it really didn't seem as appealing as the others, but it was enough to keep me reading into the fourth one. The third movie was sweetness though..though the ending with the dementors and Harry was, cheesy. :/ The fourth book! Whee!! Ohmygosh, I cried so hard during the ending. I thought it had a good plot, nice introduction and it had a good feel of emotions and word comprehension. Overly a very good book I'd read again. The movie...dissapointing. I've already ranted on it in some other thread. The fifth book...ohmygosh, I waited three years for..that? Harry was the biggest snob ever, all "Look at me! I can do this and I don't care if I'll get in trouble!" Grow up. -.- I know, puberty. I know boys on puberty who don't do that, it's not hard to not be snobby. The book itself wasn't THAT bad. I dunno, seemed more informative than interactive. The sixth book I could not get into. I tried and tried, I'd been so happy I was buying it, I was really hoping it'd be the bestest, but oh no, it sucked too. Too much..running around. Dumby lost his appeal and hype and such. He seemed like a child again even though for five books Rowling made it out that he was an all-important and confident, brave role model, not some weakling kids look over. So in short..yeah, they're not my favorite. I'm also tired of the hype and such surrounding it. Why is it that they're so famous again? It seems she's appealing more to her audience and doing what they want instead of what's good for the storyline. |

| Knight of Zero | Speak for yourself. I liked book 6 above all. |

| Warrior of Light | I would have to agree, Harry has become a pompous know it all little prat with no sense of direction or purpose and has the most unlikely of luck for his ever increasing amounts of stupidity. I say ever increasing because he seems to become more ignorant of the world and more self centered as he ages. I still get a kick out of his egotistical mindset, how everything revolves around him and that he is rather to stupid or to arrogant to care what others think or feel. Frankly it dissappoints me to see the books turn into a giant fiasco and soap opera but it seems that this is the will of JK Rowling. |

| Knight of Zero | Unless Rowling killed the other authors in the world, she deserves her spotlight, since it's her books that have attracted it. |

| Bang! | :/ Meh, my point is that there are other authors out there. She has written good books, but they've gotten alot of hype. Maybe I'm too much for the people's who cool stuff got pushed down because the popular person got there first. o-o |

Anyways. The books are boring. The movies are boring. The whole thing is stupid. There you have my two cents. Complete waste of money. | |

| Lord Kira | Book 1- Introduction to the world and story, fairly boring, but a good way to introduce I suppose. Book 2- For the longest time pointless, but had some point to the plot later on. Book 3- The best book until the fifth came out. ROCK ON SIRIUS! Book 4- Transitional book, the whole point was that voldemort comes back. Rather boring book. Rushed, came out too quickly as well. Book 5- Very good, rather dark (maybe even darker than the sixth book) especially with the whole society against you. Second best book so far. Book 6- Best book so far, not quite as dark as the fifth book, but very dark. The war against voldemort is great here. Especially since harry's right for once. xD As for HP being commercialized, it happens with everything popular, either go with it, or leave it. |

| Knight of Zero | I understand, kairigirl, but it doesn't matter. The book are popular for a reason. If other authors want the spotlight, then they should write better books than her. If they can't, then she really deserves her spotlight. |
