Default Do Goofy and Donald have some kind of memory problem?

I wasn't exactly sure where to place this, since it deals with both BBS and KH2, but I figured here would be alright. Anywayy...

In Birth By Sleep, Donald and Goofy have been to Master Yen Sid's tower and even found Ven outside with the star shard. What I don't understand is how they couldn't recognize the tower in KH2. Is this just a lack of foresight or is there a simple explanation behind this?

It's just a minor oversight, several people throw a fit about it despite it not really being important at all.

What is also possible is that they weren't so surprised about the Tower itself but the place they found it, as in KH2 the Mysterious Tower is attached to Twilight Town, which it normally isn't.
Furthermore, it has been eleven years between BBS and KH2, so it is not totally out of the question that Donald and Goofy forgot about the tower in that time-span.
I would think that even each one of us cannot remember every place and location they were at eleven years ago.

Also, Nomura sheds some light about Worlds in the realm of between in the DDD-Ultimania:

Other than that, it's just also partially due to poor writing (KH2 was supposed to end where it did, but there were still small plans to expand the plot, which is why we got these handheld titles).

Would you remember everything that happened a decade ago?

It wasn't a decade for them DDD confirms time flows differently for every world, & when you take a glance at Donald's nephews you get a good indicator at what the rate of time for Disney World must be.

all it is is proof that this series' story is being written as it goes, no planning ahead whatsoever

I actually thought about this. Huey, Dewey, and Louie look about the same age in every game. What's up with this?

Scuba is spot-on, this is pretty much most long-term stories, only Nomura branched his out in uncrossed territory.

Also, everyone is connected to Sora and his memories were messed-up in Chain of Memories, so Nomura does have some half-ass excuse.

That's for every Disney character, they don't seem to age. I could more properly elaborate if this was in the Spoiler section.

We've known this for years. They flat out admitted it. It's really not that big a deal at this point.

Unless you have a more accurate estimate of however much time passes in Mysterious Tower, then it's still going to be assumed that it's been 10 years since their previous visit.

And using characters that can't age doesn't particularly serve as a good comparison.

Not sure if trolling, but they do plan ahead with the story. Though I'm sure by KH2 they didn't really have DDD's story mapped out, but they were planning BBS, 358/2 Days and Coded during the production of KH2 and Nomura even says so in his interviews that he always plans the next games' stories while writing the current one.

They don't want to reveal the plot! They have to make more games to explain what could had been said in a small cutscene!
