| Ruler of Light | ((OOC: Thank you. This battle will take place on an ice field on a planet similar to Earth. It is night and the temperature is below freezing. The ice is approx. 30 meters thick in most places and 20 meters thick in the thinnest places. You'll excuse me if I lack the skills of a more experienced RPer.)) The Aurora burned overhead; it’s rippling colours casting glimmering reflections on the nearly opaque ice plain. The Aurora was a symbol, a mysterious being on the horizon of the planet that stood for so much. It represented everything to the people who lived on this icy pole of the planet. It was the gods to them, and tonight Abel was part of those gods. Abel’s breath fogged before his eyes in the freezing cold of the wintry landscape, but his fingers moved nimbly over the strings of Azure V. The tune cut out across the silence of the night, calling up memories of the past and figures of the future. The darkness represented just as much as the lights in the sky. The darkness represented the demons to the ice hunters, and to Abel the darkness was his challenger. Somewhere in the darkness he was lurking. Abel had been told that somewhere on these icy plains he’d meet his first match. A warrior who had answered the same question as he had. The question had come to him from a probe, and the challenge wasn’t something he could back down from. So now he was here; awaiting the challenger. Abel’s music cut through the darkness, calling the demons out. Calling them to come to him, for he was impatient to find his destiny among the tournament. |

| ??? | OoC: You're fine. Good luck to the both of us. IC Tournaments were always interesting events, it was human nature to want to compete and prove who the 'best' was, which could porbably be said for all races throughout the Omniverse. We're always searching for ways to prove ourselves, striving to be the most powerful and to be better than the rest, it can't really be helped. The small slip of paper, held in his hands as he grasped it tensely as to not let the tundra winds blow it away. A small invitation, a simple message, not the best way to invite some to a tournament or any sort of test of this kind, but by now it was actually quite common. Versato watched hatefully as his breath became a visible cold air as he breathed, he never really favored the cold temperatures, the temperature usually affected his mood, which was never really good seeing as how cold temperatures in particular caused him to grow rather Angry, something that wasn't good for an opponent of any sort. The rain tended to make him sad, while bright and sunny temperatures caused Happiness, something he was actually looking forward to. He decided things must be changed. Clasping his hands together as if an invisible sphere had formed in the whole made, his arm muscles expanded and his arms began to glow with red, as if they were heating up in some way. WHile the rest of his body lay pale and motionless, his hands spontaneously began boiling and quickly bubbling until they were quickly in a liquid state, looking as if they were ready to drip on to the ground. His hands seperated from their original positions and his hands quickly reformed to their original solid state. As he did so it seemed like a heat wave unleashed upon the tundra, as the ice quickly melted and thawed away until it became a vast lake. The water temperature had even begun to rise, no longer so chilling as to freeze the body of one to enter it, but warm and relaxing like a spa. Now in a lake of comforting warm water, his mood quickly changed to a happy and relaxed one, and he watched as the darkness was exstinguished by a source of light that seemed to be a sun or something similar. He briskly swam around and let the water cover his body completely until his body returned to it's lush and bright color. He quickly realized that what he had done was enjoyable, but not fitting for a tournament battle. The location was rather wide in perimeter and left plenty of room for new land to form. His eyes closed and his focus sharpened as his will power went to work, they opened once more as he sprung out of the water with his hand held downwards. Just as quickly as he had done so, a large piece of land sprouted from the water, forming a massive cliff or valley. He stood atop his new cliff and glared downward, he could swear he could see man down in the water, but the cliff was so high up that vision below became difficult. He squinted toward this positionand concluded that it was definately a man and most likely his challenger. His finger touched his own chin, as he spoke, the sound waves were deepened and rose in volume as he expanded his voice. "If your here for the tournament, c'mon up here, I feel that land is a more fitting surface to do battle on" He spoke with a welcoming tone, his happiness certainly showed. OoC: I felt it neccesary to explain his mood, as I'm sure it will affect the battle. |

| Ruler of Light | The ice shifted, surprising Abel. Something had affected the world in a huge way, causing the ice to shift into a lake. Not that it was a bad thing in Abel's opinion. The water was warm and restored his limbs from the cold that had surrounded him. He kept a tight grip on Azure V as he treaded the warm water. His challenger had to be near, and he was most likely the one who'd made the lake. The world shifted this time, a mass of land rising from the lake and pushing waves towards Abel. The warm water washed over him as he fought to keep his head above the water. It was a definite now, his opponent was here. Abel looked up, his eyes scanning the cliff face that now hung overhead, searching for the shape of a man. He found him standing at the top, looking downwards towards Abel's treading form. "If your here for the tournament, c'mon up here, I feel that land is a more fitting surface to do battle on" The man's voice cut across the silence of the lake, amplified by some means. Abel smiled at the call, triggering Azure V's flight functions. The guitar lifted him from the water, the cold air biting into his flesh as he stood up on the hovering instrument. He leaned back, causing the guitar to spring forward and up. He spiraled upward toward the challenger. Abel looked over his opponent as he came to a stop, hovering over the recently made land mass a few meters from him. Green eyes and shiny black hair stood out the most, his challenger was definitely had the body of a fighter. Abel smiled slightly, nodding in greeting to the man. "Well, it seems we've been matched against each other. I believe that combatants should introduce themselves before beginning; so, my name is Abel." As he spoke his hands moved behind his back, one hand twisting the face of the watch on his wrist, moving it into position for the battle. ((OOC: Good luck as well.)) |

| ??? | Versato glared silently at the small dot, in a few instances this small dot grew larger and large until it was official that it was a man in motion. He seemed to be spiraling forth with brilliant agility and skilll as he shifted through the air like a a soaring creature. Finally he touched the surface gracefully, a pause for a few moments, but then Versato noticed the nod and him suspiciously shifting his hands behind his back. The challenger spoke, talking of introductions and such, he of course followed the same belief here, despit the fact that they were both about to be attempting to rip each other apart and destroy each other they could still show common courtesies. "I am. . . Versato" He had no idea why he'd paused in the middle of his statement as if he had choked and lost the words that were most definately setting in his mind waiting to be spurred forth. He shook the thought away, returning his glare of Jade toward the challenger once more, allowing his own eyes to slant and lower slightly as if he were attempting to examin all aspects of his composition. Once again, his happiness sputtered forth oddities, for he had no apparent idea why he did this either. He took a step backwards, finally getting rid of oddities he hoped, and now realizing that idle chat and friendly talk was over with, unfortunately he had to battle this man. "I'm afraid we must cut to the point my friend, we aren't here to chat, we're here to battle. No offense of course." Touching his lip, he paused once more, this was not another oddity, just him sharpening his mental focus for the moment. Out of sight, Versato's back seemed to ripple, then a black smoke that seemed almost like a liquid oozed from the ripples, and finally a solid spurred forth. With grim magnificence, a pair a purely black wings had formed, to the eye it would seem like regular feathered wings had manifested. Softly and gracefully, a few feathers floated, aloft in the air, ariving in his palm. In all actuality these feathers were Shuriken, made completely of a special energetic matter that rejects, destroys, and eats away all particles that don't belong to Versato. "Blackest Wrath, Angel Shards" His words were soft but crisp, and in the blink of an eye the Shurkien scattered in the challenger's direction, it would most likely require some agile movement to avoid such weaponry at such an intense speed. Versato knew the challenger had it in him, the intentions of this attack were not to kill. OoC: Bah, crappy post. |

I'd really appreciate if you'd give me an extension on the limit until tomorrow. Sorry about this, but I don't think I can come up with something in the time I have.)) |

| Ruler of Light | ((OOC: Thank you.)) The man introduced himself, pausing slightly before saying his name. The thought of a mentally slow opponent briefly flashed in Abel's mind, playing against his conscious. The thought was dispelled quickly as he remembered that the entire fighting platform had been created in an instant by this man. Abel shivered internally, he knew this battle wouldn't be easy. It would take everything in him to win. The man spoke again, his stunningly green eyes shining at Abel. He spoke of getting right into the battle. Without waiting for a response from his challenger Versato touched his lips. Abel's fingers hovered over the face of his watch, ready to activate the trigger to call forth the function. He noticed a creeping darkness curling over his challenger's back, forming... wings. The pitch coloured wings seemed different, as if they didn't belong in the world. Words formed on Versato's lips and Abel caught them only barely. He recognized the tone as a spell or command of some sort and started to react as the wings seemed to release feathers. Abel didn't pause to find out if they were just feathers or something more. He leaned forward, Azure V responding beneath him to propel him forward and upward. The attack had been fast, but his challenger had let him get away. Abel smiled, glad to be facing an opponent who knew how to fight like a gentleman for once. Abel reached to his belt, freeing a pair of percussion knives and spinning them around his hands. Abel circled in a short graceful curve around his challenger. The wings were still there and still a threat, but he couldn't let an attack go without retaliation. He flicked his wrist, releasing his hold on the percussion knife in his right hand and sending it whistling through the air at Versato, the blades snapping into place as it flew. Abel's curve brought him back around, sweeping over the platform of land that he'd been hovering over just a moment ago. The air was no place for this battle and Abel stepped off of his flying guitar grabbing it by the fretboard and pulling it into position in front of his chest. |

| ??? | The images danced around his mind and vision as a quick jump of avoidance occurred, the man was quick and agile, and he shifted through the air quite gracefully and skillfully. Maneuvering himself behind Versato; he hated the sight disadvantage that came with the Blackest Wrath technique, the huge wings seemed to block his view from behind, crafting a small weakness as a result. The only this that came to mind was to shield his back from whatever assault his back would face using the Blackest Wrath. Quickly, a small gust of wind picked up and his wings reversed in direction as they layered each other in rhythm, crafting a shield for his back. Just as he had originally thought, he heard a small noise as the knives slid into his wings, which almost symbolized slipping into an abyss. Versato was quick to react, making a sudden motion; he slid forth and rocketed forth in a soaring movement, arriving at the ground, which was quite a distance away from his original position, upon arrival he had made a skillful roll to position himself correctly. He rotated quickly, and finally rested calmly. A faint smile struck his expression as he glared forward, the thoughts raced through his mind, and he was quick to realize that this would be a worthy challenge, it would require a bit of self-sacrifice and effort possibly. He sighed briefly, an idea had just struck his mind, but he knew what it required, it would ruin his mood and he just hated it. He lightly touched his chest while simultaneously closed his eyes in an effort to achieve a better mental focus. He had begun to search emotion and feeling, they were almost displayed on a giant map in his mind, he drew on his memory as he began to think about pain. He opened his eyes abruptly while in his mind he was drawing on the focus of pain while also mentally taking in what was happening currently. He arm and hand slowly extended outward, as he did so an abrupt startling in the air and reality seemed to flow through the air, a bubble or sphere was slowly forming at his palm, its size was rather large, and in a few moments it had finally rested and remained calmly in his palm. This art only took so long this time because Versato had found the need to achieve a perfect focus, lengthen the art's limits, etc. Normally it would've happened a bit more quickly. All was still; he took in a deep breath, actually bracing himself for what was to come. The bubble seemed to pop, as it did Versato quickly spoke. "Pain, release into the world, come in excruciating amounts" He fell to his knees, clutching his stomach, he was silent for a moment but then yelled out in ferocity, he rolled on the ground in anguish, the pain, and it was unbelievable. It filled his body to every extent, it became unbearable. He didn't care to watch his opponent because in a minute it'd affect him just the same. The pain just never stopped, he hated so much, he was actually begging for it to stop, having thoughts of actually wanting to die, just to rid him of such a pain. He had expected it though; he attempted to stand as he vomited in pain. Shaking and trembling, all he did was allow to more shuriken to float into his palm, then flinging them at his opponent. He did look up, his opponent would experience the same amount of pain he is right now. Using the art of Zansu could be beneficial, he could've just attempted to fling the sphere at the challenger, but it could miss. With this method he simply released into the world, affecting everything. Everything would be struck with pain, even himself, which became the only drawback. |

| Ruler of Light | The knives didn't even affect his challenger as Abel watched the man shift the black wings around on his back. It hadn't been worth much anyway, but it seemed physical attacks may be useless. Versato moved swiftly across the arena in an explosion of movement, lunging away from where he'd originally been standing. He paused at this new standing, touching his chest lightly before holding out his hand. As Abel watched energy and reality seemed to shift as power gathered in the palm of his opponents hand, forming a small sphere of energy. Abel watched, tense, not sure of what the attack would do. An opponent had never paused to take so much energy in and manipulate it. The sphere burst, and Versato spoke, his words another spell. Pain washed over Abel, a sudden wave of undeniable agony sweeping him off his feet. He stumbled, falling to his knees on the hard ground. The flash of pain that shot through him as he skinned his knees didn't even register against the all encompassing pain that surrounded him now, tearing through him like a demon wind. Abel managed to look up at his opponent, even the light burning in his eyes, as his challenger managed to overcome the pain for a moment, launching another flurry of shuriken at him. Abel fell to the ground, his mind barely alert enough to remember to move Azure V from below him. The shuriken passed above him, a few nicking his arms and shoulders as he rolled to avoid them. The pain was already so intense that it didn't matter that he got hurt more. He fought down the desire to retch up his lungs, fighting to his feet as his knees threatened to burst with pain against the strain of gravity. The pain was intense, but Abel still had his instinctual music. His hand swept across the strings, summoning up a chord. The feeling of the metal frets was almost washed out by the pain, but he managed to play, adding a bit of his own power to the music. His power flowed down the strings and into the sound as he played, recalling all his happiness and joy. The pain didn't stop, it still burned fiercely in every bit of his body and soul, but the music dulled the pain under a wave of happiness. Abel knew it wouldn't last forever, and he had to speed this battle up. Losing wasn't exactly an option. Abel shifted the sound, angling the waves of energy that were created by the strings. The air changed visibly, the edges of his attack forming contrails as vapor slid off. The cutting knives of sound, rushed at Versato, aiming to remove his head and finish things quickly. ((OoC: Crappy post, but it's mildly passable.)) Last edited by Jopari; 10/22/07 at 11:36 PM. |

| ??? | The pain continued to stab at his soul, becoming more intense as time went on. He managed to muster all the will power he could and get to his feet as he quietly glared ahead in the direction of his opponent, observing whether or not the shuriken had managed to touch him. He watched as the shuriken failed, his challenger had fell to the ground and caused them to miss with ease. It only took another quick moment for his opponent to force himself into a stance as well and retaliate. Versato took a deep breath trying not to vomit from the pain once more, but the pain was quickly overcome with sheer wonder as his challenger had suddenly launched an assault far more deadlier than anything he'd thrown at him. It didn't hurt much, the wind and sound rushed on him and attempted to remove his head cleanly. The pain amounted to nothing compared to what he was already experiencing. He was still alive, the attack managed to slice a bit into his shell of a body, it had made it's way through his neck and quickly vanished as it made contact with the energy-like matter that made up most of what he truly was underneath as a spirit. Consider it a magical essence shaped into a deadly matter, which still remained even without a matter form. The wound in his neck quickly healed as new particles formed to take place of the open wound. He then decided to bite through the pain once more, and that enough was enough. He tensed up, his body enlarging somewhat, as if every one of his muscles had enlarged, the same sphere he had earlier conjured reformed into the palm of his hand, and then in another moment sunk into his palm, returning to where it came from. The pain died out, completely leaving, no longer present in the world. "Well, if you're attempting to take things to a new level, I'd be more than happy to oblige" Pain would strike him once more, only less of a factor. He clenched his teeth onto his own thumb and began to grind his teeth against it until he completely removed it and was holding it between his teeth. He looked towards the heavens and quickly spat it upward, it roared through the air like a bullet, quietly decaying into the original material. What had begun at such a small size quickly grew and spead across the skies, encasing the two of them in a rather large dome. The two of them inside; it was quite dim but they could both see each other well enough. Quietly, his lips became a vibrant red and soon formed a small orb of red fire in his mouth. The orb seemed calm and growing, as it was. Soon it became the size of a bowling ball, and still remained in his mouth. The temperature was like none other, greater than that of thirteen suns, it rapidly melted the skin right off of Versato. He paused quietly for a moment, and in the next he spat this orb out. Despite it's original form, it ended up coming out like a beam or lazer of orange, pure heat. The temperature burned away the air and oxygen just as quickly as it could contain it, and soon the beam filled the entire dome completely, the only area not affected was Versato, as his special composition was rejecting the heat with ease. He smirked, the dome's particles were packed too tightly to break, escape, or teleport from, and all the oxygen would be gone even if he were to survive the heat. This technique of his was rather simple, intentions were rarely ever to kill, usually just to make things a little more interesting, as shown here. He glared out and spoke, in case he was still alive. "Witness the Breath of Fire" |

| Ruler of Light | ((Couple questions so I can clarify before my post. The fire is extinguished now because of lack of fuel, correct? And my second question is was the beam attack surrounding Versato, or just in front of him? I'll post as soon as I know the answers, because my strategy changes depending on the answers. Thanks.)) |

| ??? | To answer your first question, yes, it has died out now, as for your second question, the heat filled the entire dome the both of us are in. |

| Ruler of Light | ((Apparently we're wasting time. So I'll try to get my next post up a bit faster next time.)) The cutting blade of sound passed through the warrior’s neck. Not that it phased him one bit. The challenger healed the wound that had been created by Abel’s useless attack, standing against the pain and tensing. The ball reformed and sunk into Versato’s body, stopping the pain. He spoke again, declaring that the battle was going to another level. To his word the mysteriously strong man raised his hand to his mouth and ripped off his own thumb with his teeth. As he did this gruesome act Abel watched stunned, the music coming from his guitar fading as he stared. The man spat his thumb into the air, and it broke down, replicating into a dome of darkness above them. Abel shuddered at the unnatural power it seemed to give off, his eyes moving to his challenger once again. A ball of fire formed in the man’s mouth, glowing with pure heat. The heat burning into Abel’s skin even at a distance, and the skin melted off his opponent. Abel twitched slightly at the sight of burning skin. The orb began to radiate energy, pouring itself into a beam that pulsed all around the arena that they were trapped in. Abel felt sweat form on his skin, evaporating almost instantly in the immense heat. Cold. Abel’s hands moved back to his guitar strings, his fingers blistering as they touched the red hot metal of them. Ignoring the pain as it became common all across his body he began to play. Sorrow melted from his guitar’s song, reaching deep down into his emotions to call forth the sadness that resembled cold. The sorrowful song strained to be heard in the roar of heat that swept over him. The cold washed down over him, creating a median of air around him, burning and freezing at the same time. He’d turned one of his own attacks against him, using it to shelter him from the insane heat that the fireball had generated. Blisters formed on his skin as cold and hot competed in the air around him. The intense variations between temperature burned his flesh, but he kept playing, straining to survive. Finally the fire faded, burning down. Abel still stood, his skin scorched in some places and frozen in others. He shrugged off the pain as best he could. He took a breath, struggling to regain his composure. The air tasted different now, not clean nitrogen and oxygen as it had once been but some other chemical compound that felt heavier in his lungs. He glared through the darkness at the man who’d pulled such a devious attack hearing the words of the spell that he’d cast. Abel smiled, despite the fact that he knew that oxygen was gone. Rikken had tried something similar, so he was prepared. He raised his hands up in front of him, two fingers resting lightly on the face of his watch shaped weapon. “Listen; Nature rages against you.” Abel pressed down, the soft click of activation sounding as the song began to flow out of the air. The slight vibrations of the mechanism inside the Soundshifter forced the particles to vibrate in the air, creating sound from nowhere. All Abel had to do was add Azure V and his power to the mix, so he did. The cutting music was hard and fast, almost what would be metal to the ears of most people. Abel let his power flow into the music, twisting the environment with the sound. “Water.” The word broke from Abel’s lips as he played, summoning the first part of nature with his music. The ground beneath them rumbled slightly, cracks spider webbing from the scorched ground between the challengers. The lake below them was lending itself to the battle on Abel’s command. Water gushed up from the cracks, creating forceful spouts of pressurized water. The water pooled around them, lapping at Abel’s ankles as he stood in it. Breathing was becoming difficult, but he continued to play. “Air.” Abel called to the second part of nature’s tune. The lapping water at his ankles shifted, changing into gas. The oxygen was restored to the air around them as the oxygen and hydrogen broke apart at the command of Abel’s music. He could breath now, and fuel was restored, but this time in a much more unstable form. The free floating hydrogen in the air mingled with the oxygen, but didn’t bond. Abel played on, his song cutting through the gloom of their battle field. “Earth.” Strength poured into Abel’s music, calling on the third part of nature’s quad of powers. The scorched and rocky battleground shifted, this time splintering into spikes that shot upward. The spikes aimed to pierce through the form of Versato, despite his earlier resistance to being so easily injured Abel saw no harm in trying again. The spikes shot upward from the circle around his opponent, creating a spire of overlapping rock around the challenger. “Fire.” Abel muttered the last and most violent form of nature. The explosion of flame sent up a column of fire from around Versato’s feet, shattering the stone spires that had aimed to impale him with the sudden burst of heat. The hydrogen caught fire, burning gas sending out tongues of flame to lick the black walls of the dome that surrounded them. Abel’s fingers slowed, pausing on the buzzing strings as the background music faded for a moment. He stared into the small column of smoke that remained of the burst of fire, hoping that the physical force of his attacks had been enough. But the earlier attack with the blade of sound hadn’t phased the warrior, so he doubted it. He strummed another chord, picking up the song again. “Aether.” The fifth element came upon him like death’s shadows, sweeping through him with a light and cold touch on his soul. The brush of the cold wing’s of death sent a shiver down into Abel’s soul as he played the haunting ending to the song. Aether was the element of nature that lacked common knowledge, the element that defied logic. It rushed towards the column of black smoke, the invisible wings dispersing it as it cut through to carry away whatever spirit kept the dark particles of his challenger alive. The music faded as Abel’s shoulders fell, such a powerful calling taking the energy from him. He hoped that his opponent was no longer standing, because he was running out of ways to fight. |
