The original Zetsumi appeared human, with a slight build, thinly muscled, though with surprising strength. He had long silver hair and glowing silver eyes, and though he possesed many bodies, in various states of decay, each of them was subatomically tuned to his own features.
Impure Monarch Ressurection retains these features, though with the addition of a number of slate-grey, armour-like plates covering them, likened to the carapace of an insect. These plates are connected by a thin black membrane, and so can move freely over one another, though they do slightly impede his movement.
A long, spiraling shell emerges from his left hip, the remenants of the cocoon wich was torn open before his transformation was complete.
Current Attire: Zetsumi seems to wear only a skintight black suit, terminating halfway down his thighs, and at his shoulders. This is worn underneath his plates of armour, and indeed, seems to be of a similar material to the membrane that binds the armour.
Personality: Despite his new form, Zetsumi's transformation was never completed, so his personality remains untouched, though it could be argued that it would not change even had he completed the transformation, as the Butterfly Viretical strain is just as vicious and merciless as he is. Cold, Sadistic, and lusting for destruction, he seems not to care for anything that he cannot use to his advantage. His every action is self-centered and based on greed.
History:
Even such one as powerful as Zetsumi starts as nothingness. An emotion. A feeling.
Death is a part of life...it is it's defining attribute. It could be argued that something that does not die does not truly live. Yet such a strong negative emotion draws energy, and eventually, that energy became sentient.
At first, it simply jumped from host to host, killing at random, and commiting atrocities. It was behind some of the greatest horrors of human history: World War Two, the assasination of various presidents, the killing spree of Jack the Ripper...indeed, it seemed to make it it's sole ambition to destroy this solitary planet.
At long last, it became aware that by training it's hosts, it trained itself, and thus began to leave it's hosts alive for longer. In time, it settled to a man named Theo.
At Theo's untimely death, the spirit took command of his Shinobi-trained ally, Lei Feng, and thus discovered it's name: Zetsumei. Death.
To this day, it is unknown how many hosts Zetsumi took, but in respect for Lei, he has altered each of them to his image. He created a 'Nexus' of his power of sorts, a devestated chapel on a floating chunk of land, which he named: The Bassilica. At his death, he is ressurected there in a new corpse, thus being immortal.
After the creation of the Bassilica, Zetsumi felt he no longer needed to hide from the Omniverse, and thus discarded the mask he had worn for so long...but nothing can be tied to power such as that for so long without taking on some of it's attributes, and as Zetsumi specialised in the reanimation of the fallen, the mask itself was capable of animation.
The being it created, Masquerade, began to slowly take on power, residing in the unknown worlds at the almost infinate, ever expanding edge of the Omniverse.
It is around this time that he encountered Kagami for the first time. It's unknown how Kagami came to be, all that is known of it is that it is a mirror-image of Zetsumi himself, lusting for creation where he seeks destruction. And thus, a third element of Zetsumi's power was unleased on the Omniverse, but later destroyed, or so it was though, by Valyon Lightstar.
Re-encountering his lost apprentice, Mitsukai, Zetsumi joined forces with the now-god in his quest, deigning even to take one of his elite four, The Tumour, on for training. Under his tution, the vampire-child Jinsei grew far more powerful, capable of destruction rivaling his fellow Tumour members.
Following this, he met a warrior named Kyoushu, bent on destroying him, and learned that Kyoushu was in fact his brother, and that the two of them were the last remenants of a dead race, the Gravijins. This is because Zetsumi's original host was a Gravijin, and as thus his sentience took on that host's attributes.
Here is where Zetsumi's history becomes obscured, for it has not yet happened. It is in the future, yet to happen. It is known that at some point, Zetsumi, Kagami and Masquerade, each having developed on their own, join once more as one being. It is also known that at some point in the future, a Virus unlike any other, the Butterfly Virus, sweeps the Omniverse, in a way not dissimilar to the way Zetsumi used his host, the Butterfly Virus takes a host, and consumes all it's energy, killing it within seven days, hence it's name, and uses the corpse as a body. It feeds on all forms of life, and is so expansive that the only way to wipe it out completly should have been to cleanse the entire galaxy of life.
It's not known how the Virus was defeated in the end...it's theorised that Zetsumi, and a group of other warriors of the Omniverse, assaluted the various Hive Mind beings controlling the Virus, rendering it mindless.
When the time came, however, to admidister the Coup'de'grace, and kill the queen of the Butterfly Virus, Zetsumi had other plans, allowing the queen to infect him before he killed it himself.
Imbuing the Virus with his own powers, he allowed it to develop inside his own body, nurturing it, until he himself entered a cocoon, starting to change.
Before his transformation was complete, his cocoon was forced open, leaving him in a half-formed state, close to the state of perfection he sought to achieve, yet leaving it permanantly out of his reach.
Unleashing this new strain of the Butterfly Virus, named the 'Monarch' Virus, onto the Omniverse, he began to build power, until a cataclysmic showdown between himself and the heroes of the Omniverse bent time itself, and deposited him temporarily in the past.
Weapon: Still able to utalise his previous weapons, the Greiverblades and Etching Sowrds, though with a slight design alteration, he is also capable of creating Monarch Virus', and of reforming parts of his own body.
Abilities:
Umbra
The power of darkness to deconstruct and reconstruct any number of particles at near-impossible speed, and even alter their composition. It's used by Zetsumi to teleport, and to create swords from nothing. It takes a period of about a second for deconstruction or reconstruction to complete, though the user can move in a half-formed state without any detrimental side-effects. The time of transition depends on the distance and mass.
Gravity
This power allows the manipulation of gravity on a scale, though Zetsumi's is not near as powerful as that of Kyoushu, who used it to crush an entire planet to the size of a pinhead. Zetsumi can create singularities and gravity anaomalys.
Necromancery
The power of the manipulation of souls, it can be used to animate the dead, or an inanimate object, or in reverse, killing one instantly.
Signature Techniques:
Needle Wall: A technique in which Umbra is used to create a wall of swords, which is thrust fowards at great speed, often impaling the target a number of times.
Needle Ceiling: A variation of Needle Wall, but Vertical.
Corpus: A technique that combusts a Corpse's lingering energy to force it to self-destruct, often killing any beings in the vicinity.
Gravity Grave: A gravity technique in which the power of gravity is accuentuated by soul energy, formed into a ball, and then implanted in an opponent's body, oftgen causing it to collapse in on itself. In stronger opponents, while they may not be consumed, they will be the centre of a large gravity well.
