Default I Shall Bring It All Down

From this, the Immaterial Twilight that Gathers
A Focusing Storm on the Horizon.
A Horizon that seems infinite to the human mind,
Yet still has a vanishing point.
This power, a surge of reason,
Of logic,
Of instinct.
It is of this that I find my strength has gathered.
It is from this that I cast my gaze down upon humanity
And its citadels of corruption,
Of decadence,
Of hedonism.
My face shrivels in anger and I have not but one thought:
"I shall bring it all down...
Even if it means the Pillars of Civilization bury me underneath.'"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a while guys. Even though I've been lurking about here and there, I've kept myself wholly unoccupied with Kingdom Hearts Insider. College life is wrapping up so I've had my mind in places where it probably should be.
That being said, I think I'll have a fight. I'm rusty; that goes without saying. Hell, I'm fairly positive I'll lose no matter who I face. Either way, I just want a little something to let me breathe in a little nostalgia. So bring it... anyone... everyone.
This fight shall consist of characters of the meta-human/mutant variety. That is, characters must be human and must possess powers. I don't care if they're genetic or inherited or through some kind of mysticism. However, God Powers or anything of the sort shall not be tolerated. I prefer my opponents literate and well-thought but I'm not expecting grand expositions (hell, even that being said any writer worth his salt knows that dialogue is much better than silly exposition).
I want to have fun is the primary thing. I want my opponent(s) to have fun as well. So if you're an older person and remember me, come have some good times. If you're new, come fight someone you may/may not have heard about. Our arena? It's quite simple: Downtown Manhattan. ^_^
I don't expect a template. Instead, as an exercise of my own thought and of others', I expect your first post to introduce your character thoroughly enough to enjoy while not completely relying on expository writing. No one wants to just read some synopses -- weave the character's life into the tale, their powers, and anything else that need be necessary (in other words, what you would normally expect from a template).
I won't be able to post but possibly once per day, sometimes more, sometimes less. If I have more than one opponent, please do not multi-post without giving your opponent's time to respond. It's very unsporting.
This fight will begin with my next post. So those interested, go ahead and say you'll be entering, and either later tonight (around midnight or so) or tomorrow afternoon, I'll make the opening post.
If you don't mind, I'd like to get on this also. I'll be using Evan Lasting- hope that fulfills the metahuman requirement.
Name
Evan Lasting
Gender
Male
Age
His physical appearance is that of a 25 year old man… however, a single glance into his eyes can show you that he has seen much more then any 25 year old should see…
Appearance
Evan appears normal, to the highest degree. While he is handsome to a certain degree, he is not an Apollo for any Aphrodite. He is of average height, standing at about 5’10’’ in human measurements. He bears a head of light brown hair, which is cut short and spiked slightly in a very sharp, military type haircut. His eyes are a deep blue, as beautifully sapphire as a perfect Caribbean ocean… He is well built, stocky thanks to the training he has received earlier in his life. He usually wears plain blue jeans, which grace his plain white sneakers nicely, matching up with his plain white undershirt, and an unbuttoned long-sleeved dress shirt, plaid in its design. He appears as if he should be relaxing at home, during a peaceful Sunday afternoon… how this contrasts with the pain and confusion found in his deep blue eyes…
Personality
Evan personality is a little shaky to say the least. His voice contains the tiredness and exhaustion of a journey worth a million miles. He is calm, often offering vaguely apathetic tidbits to a conversation. He is not one to explode in anger, nor is he one to care about what happens to those around him. He simply moves wearily onward, truly nonchalant toward the existence around him
The Power…
Evan is immortal.
Completely, undeniably, and unchangeably immortal. His body, his soul, his mind, anything that makes up his essence cannot be destroyed, by any means whatsoever. His body itself is indestructible, as he either recovers from fatal wounds instantaneously, or he simply does not suffer from them at all. It is unclear exactly how this power works, however Evan has experienced that it is something about him that happens innately. This immortality and indestructibility is unchangeable, irremovable, and untouchable. It cannot be altered in any way shape or form.
History
Evan was a normal guy
Until he discovered he couldn’t die…
Sorry I didn't open this up with a post yesterday, I got distracted but I will after classes this afternoon. Also, Chariot, I didn't ask for profiles (you were supposed to introduce them through your opening post) and no immortality. Your character has to be able to die.
Fair enough. I'll introduce a new character when you make the introductory post. My bad for not reading close enough into your instructions.
OOC: It's quite alright. I did not mean to come off as rude.
IC:
Times Square was quite a sight to behold. It held views of things that one would not normally find gathered together into one city, let alone a small portion of it. Yet, here it was -- technology and business standards of the world gathered here to sale their wares to any and everyone who either thought they needed something or perhaps just wanted to spend money, like most tourists would do. From the most overly-hyped items like a Roomba, to items that would make-or-break the technologically fashionable scene, like the iPhone. Indeed, it was a place of energy, of synergy, of chaos and of order. Such a contradiction could not exist according to schools of thought such as philosophy or logic, yet here they were -- in full form, as it might be added.
Artemis could not quite agree with it all though. He found that this city shouldn't exist... then again, anarchy always preached the decay of civilization and of government and what evils they both brought -- and what was worse, religion. "Arty" knew that in order to have a better civilization... a better society, if indeed one could exist, this old one would have to be destroyed first and then remade. That was where Artemis fit into the picture, as a painter who had seemingly gone away from an unfinished portrait only to return years later to complete the task he had left behind.
Artemis blew the few strands of dark brown hair that hung in his face away. His hair could be annoying at times -- it often tickled his lips or the bottom of his nose. He ran a hand up through his hair to smooth it back as best as possible, which wasn't very well in the winds that blew through the passageways of this steel and iron maze in which he stood at the center. He started walking towards the always-classic "Coca-Cola" prompter that hung in the center of Time Square, with nothing more than a sense of serenity in the deep blue orbs that sat within his skull. They seemed to take in everything around him, especially the looks he was getting from other people. He knew that they probably found it odd that in this cold Winter weather he was simply wearing a pair of blue jeans and a dark gray tee.
Then again, the cold did not bother him -- it had not since he was born. Which was convenient for Artemis, considering he was born in the middle of a blizzard, on the side of a road. If he had been any "normal" person then he would have died and left his parents heartbroken -- something that did not really appeal to whatever heart he may have had left. He always loved the cold though, and the water. They both brought him into his own little "world." He could only help but to smile whenever he thought of those days where he would play in the snow or go to the beach, sometimes at the same time.
Artemis stepped out across the street, his eyes only focused on the sign ahead and above him. It was this fault of attention that a vehicle seemed to be headed straight towards him. He heard the tires screeching and without a moment's hesitation, unsheathed his left hand from its pocket and whipped it up into the air in the form of a lazy gesture, and with it, the vehicle suddenly seemed to spring upon a path of ice and fly over his head, crashing into a couple of cars on the other side of him. He heard yells and cries for help from those around him, but did not really try to listen. His goal was simple: to reach the Sign, and through the process by which many revolutions were started, announce that he would destroy the world and remake it in his image.
And it would all start with Time Square, New York City.
The cries, he could hear them in the darkness, perhaps the first thing he'd heard besides his own heavy breathing in the past twenty years. Sitting in a small dark chamber for so long made him forget what he even looked like, the sound of his own voice was lost to him for he hadn't spoken in his time either. A tray was gently slid from under the door, slops of food were blanketing it. He sighed and stood up, his bones popping and making cracking noises as he did. He had skipped his meals for awhile now so his behavior was excusable as he attacked the tray with his mouth like a savage starved hound. Licking his lips and tasting the long hairs of his face he stumbled through the darkness until a fire appeared in the corner to illuminate things.
His eyes stung, he hadn't seen light in so long, they remained closed until he approached the cracked mirror above the sink to stare in horror at what he'd become. There in that cell stood not a man, but now a beast. His face was hardly visible because his hair had grown so long that it covered it and his wizard-like beard didn't help it either. His teeth were rotten and now a decaying green color, the very stench from his body and breath nearly killed him as he took a good sniff for the first time in so long. He teared up, and the result was another nasty smell as they mixed with the disgusting sweat that poured from his body and had drenched his clothes for so long. The prison here didn't care about him, he did it to himself, they left him locked down here for twenty years and only remembered his existence every now and then when they would slide a tray of slop in.
"Who am I?....."
"You're...about to be reborn"
Hearing another voice almost caused him physical pain, it was odd. He turned to the flame which seemed to be the origin of this voice. The ember before him soon began to take physical form: a charred body blistered in shredded ash skin. The figure seemed unreal and his brittle bones creaked as he crawled from the corner like some undead "zombie"-like creature. He almost screamed, the beast, but he shut himself up as he watched the ash and dead skin wither away and fall off, each piece falling off individually to reveal a night haired man with no eyes, just bare sockets. His body was uncovered, but supremely built and tanned. He wore modern jeans and rough sneakers for physical activity. A wonder he was.
"There's something out there, you-....we've got to take care of."
There wasn't time to speak, because the next thing that happened was the man before the beast becoming a pile of ash and the beast suddenly screaming and clutching his own skull. Thousands of memories and experiences took him all at once, seeming to stab his conscious as he began to realize and transform into who he really was. It turned out that he had locked himself up as a normal man in this prison cell twenty years ago to hide his power and conceal himself from society as the freak he had become many years ago. Stripped of his powers, they remained hidden within the back of his mind until it was necessary for them to return to him. His memories and life experiences shared the same fate.
"So why now?" He exclaimed in the dark.
"What's going on down there" a mob of police officers yelled as they charged for his cell. They opened the large steel door with haste only to find a stench they'd never been capable of imagining and an empty room containing a pile of ash.
People rushed passed him, but they did not appear as people to him, just blurry colors zooming by and creating a rainbow experience. He was only focused on finding something, this thing was the entire reason he'd awoken from his slumber, so there is more than likely a good reason for it. He wasn't on the sidewalk after those few moments, he was atop a car in front of a store with an unknown name, he could now see a prompter with the words "Coca-Cola".
OoC: Don't know if I'll be able to post regularly, but I'll try. Looking forward to this.
Time Square. The towers glittered with electric marvel, the lights twinkling in the air like a surreal painting. The crescendo of chattering people, laughing crowds, of credit cards swiping, and the honking of cars filled the air, as the apex of human socializing swam around the concrete streets like a raging river into a watering hole. It was wonderful, the smells of the hot and spicy drifting out of the best New York diners, the music spilling out of an open store, and the glittering red lights as new text slid across the constantly shining signs. And with all the schools in NYC closed for the winter holidays, it was a perfect time for a joy walk.
Ben Grant took a deep breath, his back arching slightly as he breathed in the perfection, letting simple human senses explode in euphoria as he felt the motions around him. The pattering of hundreds of human feet. The buzzing of a hundred vibrating cellphones. The rumbling of the subways beneath his feet. All of the forces coming together to send a tingly sensation up and down his spine. Such a tickle.
Ben laughed as he walked down the street, his dark black hair spiked slightly on the front, tussled with just the perfect hint of chaos. This was what he lived for. The thrill of the universe.He ran his tan spindly fingers through his black strands, grinning through white teeth as he let the whole environment soak into him. Vibrations ran up his body, and he opened his eyes wide as he felt the forces tingle through his bones. Such fun. They were like small buzzes of pleasure; a tickling sensation winding its way through his skin. Just made walking in places like New York even more fun. His ordinary blue jeans sifted slightly in the wind, his ordinary white shoes beating against the pavement, sending an exciting jolt through his body with every step. Ever since that tingling sensation had entered his body, he could never get enough of it. It was like a drug, a buzz that never ceased. And unlike the pathetic stimulants of the world, this had no side effects.
“Those poor guys have no idea,” he whistled to himself as he felt a particularly vibrant sensation through his body. Must be construction going on a few blocks down.He breathed in, absorbing the feels of all these forces around him, and he hugged his trenchcoat a bit closer to him, feeling the tails whipping about in the wind as the cold winter air settled in. It wasn’t terrible, just a bit chilly. Nothing that could ruin his mood at least.
At least until the screams happened. Ben’s face contorted from pure bliss at walking down the street, feeling the sensations around him as a sudden surge of motion shot through the ground. Eyebrows furrowed, his dark brown eyes widening as he quickly glanced around, his body suddenly tightening as a sudden crash filled the air. He turned just in time to see a car crash into the ground, and the sensation instantly shot through his body, sending a giddy jolt through his bones.
“What the hell?” he muttered to himself, as his eyes gazed at the direction the car had crashed from. The metal was twisted with the force of the collision, and Ben could not help but admire the beauty of the crash. Twisted metal, bent with the force of the propulsion- even the hardest metal became pliable at high speeds. It was a marvel to be sure. Ben breathed a sigh of silent relief as the person limped out of the car, and he glanced over to see someone calling 911.
Good, he thought, No need to get involved. I can just keep walking… But the screams didn’t stop. It was only then that his eyes focused on something a bit farther away. The car seemed to have struck the ground from a higher altitude than the road, and as Ben’s eyes followed the natural trajectory the car would have taken, his eyes landed on a figure. The invisible line that the car would have followed pointed straight to this man.
Hmmm? Thoughts ran through Ben’s mind like gas into the motor of a car. His brain was punching out the calculations of the force and trajectory of the car like a boxer to a punching bag, No way… Is he… But that hesitant question was answered as the cold air seemed to grow even icier. He shivered slightly, buttoning up his trenchcoat as he stared at the figure, whose hand outstretched seemed to give off more menace that it should have. He breathed outward, his breath clouding as it filled the air, and when Ben’s eyes laid upon the icy patch that had manifested in the road, it became clear.
Is he… like me? He thought to himself, his self-indulgent walk suddenly becoming one of purpose, and he shifted directions, staring at the figure, who amidst a field of icy road, seemed like a god overseeing his ocean of frost. I’m not the only one? These incredulous thoughts rushed through his mind, and instantly, as he stared, he came upon a revelation. He could not let this guy go… he needed to speak with someone else like him… Time for some intervention.
Ben ground his foot into the ground, slowly making sure he had purchase, and as people ran away in fear around him, panic building as people swarmed away from the crash and the ice, he felt the tingling building within his leg, the pleasurable buzzing building as he slowly breathed out, letting the hot air fog up in front of him, and once the buzz had reach a considerable strength, he mentally let it loose. The force shot from his body, the buzzing sensation leaving instantly as the invisible force shot into the ground, sending a spiderweb of cracks shooting through the concrete, like a fault line splitting as the force cracked the ground, sending the jolt towards the figure as the force easily split the ground. His breath was coming quickly now as he stared at the figure for a reaction. Could it really be true that someone had this happening to them too?
Nostaslgia?
How about a one-on-one, for the sake of old times?
Seperate thread. I'm thinking perhaps a battle with some form of objective rather then just a straight out fight.
OOC: Sounds like a plan man. Gimme the time and place and we'll go. Also, I just tried posting a really nice post and it ate it... so you guys will have to settle for this condensed version.
IC:
Artemis had earlier deployed a kind of "net" of water molecules. These molecules would let him know the location of those around him, and their movements, but nothing beyond that. After all, sharpshooters could get annoying -- he had learned that the hard way some time ago. It would also tell him of the presence of others like him. Sure, he knew they existed... and he knew there were those who existed whose powers by sheer force trumped his own. The thing was, for some reason, his skills with his own abilities seemed years in advance of expertise against theirs. He wasn't too worried... though one could never tell.
His attention was suddenly caught by two separate incidents. The first, was the sudden appearance of some figure on a car. At least, he thought it was sudden... perhaps the guy had moved so fast that he just seemed to appear there. It would not be the first time he had ran into a Speedster, or a Blinker for that matter. That is, if that was the case anyway. He could not be too sure. His eyes though, slowly glided across the scene to the man standing there... the one who appeared... creepily surreal. Something about him was off, but he could not place it. If only he had been born a telepath...
The second incident caught his attention with a more direct force. A force under his feet, to be precise. He did not have time to initially react to the incident, but as a crack appeared under him, and he reeled forward, he caught himself with a blast of water, propelling his body towards the Coca-Cola Prompter. He came to a landing atop of it with a very practiced grace. He turned and looked at the two below, and then at the others. He formed a funnel out of ice, and directed his voice at the two below.
"So I see two of you have popped out of the wood-works... fair enough. Are you here to join me in recreating this filth so that those like us will truly have the power? I should hope so. If not, then either stay out of my way... or face the consequences. As for the rest of you... worms..." he turned as he said it to those still fleeing about. He could hear police sirens and what sounded like some heavy support rolling up, and sure enough, he saw a few vans with S.W.A.T. team members, Homeland Security, and even a few soldiers. Police seemed to sprawl out from everywhere... and a chopper came swooping in overhead.
Artemis simply smiled and looked up at the sky. He could feel the pulse of every water molecule in the air, and focused onto each one. It was hard, his focus being spread so thinly, but through sheer force of will, he managed to expand and transform the molecules... into large shards of razor-sharp ice. This ice, pulled by gravity, had no choice but to rain to the ground. Shards tore through the helicopter, sending it down towards a building, while people below screamed in pain, at least those unlucky enough to get caught in it. They wouldn't scream for long -- after all, a few stabs in the head and it usually killed you. The police as well as their "reinforcements" were also sent scattering in the same manner.
They all just looked like sheep to Artemis.
"When it rains... it kills!"
Money, cars, clothes, girls.
Times Square in New York City was the epicenter of every human males deepest material desire. Crackheads, fortune 500 business owners, entertainers and everything inbetween all passed through this intersection for ultimately the same few reasons. When thought in this way, it really showed that no matter how different and diveded the human race may seem at first, at its core they were unified at their core; no matter how superficial that core may be.
Drake couldn't help but smirk as he watched his fellow humans shuffle around the street far below him. He had a bit of a love/hate relationship with his species. Perhaps their relationship could be better described as a concerned parent and his out of control teenager. Despite their faults, he still loved them and felt the need to protect them, hoping that one day they would see the error of their ways and change.
He loved the planet however, every part of it. He closed his hazel eyes as he felt the cool breeze blow past him, slightly moving the strains of his close cut hair; his grey and black checkered scarf dancing with it. The sun beamed down upon him, illuminating his caramel colored skin. No matter what the weather Drake always wore the same thing - a black leather jacket with a white T-Shirt and gray jeans; gray and black sneakers for ease of movement. It was a bit chilly but,the cold never really bothered him.
It was unusually cold at the moment.
In fact, it must've been even cold than it feeled, because sharp icicles began raining down from the sky. Opening his eyes and looking down, he saw police and civilians alike scattering this way and that trying to escape the deadly ice-rain. Apparently, it had been caused by the man standing atop the coca-cola add.
What kind've jackass stands ontop of a giant soda add just to kill people
Looking up from his rooftop at the man, absent-mindedly dodging an especially large icicle, Drake hollered at the obviously geneocidal maniac.
"A bit melodramatic don't you think?"
Default Re: I Shall Bring It All Down
It was true…
Ben could not help but whistle slightly as the figure caught himself, propelling himself back into balance with a jet of controlled water. Such finesse, such control. Ben could only think that the guy must’ve been using his powers for a long time. And to think that I thought I was the only one… he thought wistfully, watching the man hurtle himself through the air, arching through the electronic aurora like a fish leaping from a concrete ocean before landing squarely on the Coco-Cola teleprompter.
“Showoff,” he laughed quietly to himself, glancing up at the man standing atop the teleprompter, his body taken by relieved amusement, “Of course the first person I find like me is a damn drama queen.” However, even as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair, feeling the winter wind blowing through it as people still mumbled in confusion, his feelings of amused elation slowly shifted to curiosity as the icy trails of vapor slid across the man’s hand, manifesting together in a cool shift of deposition, the wintry gas instantly freezing in the shape of a funnel. Too cool, he thought, laughing at his own corny humor as he stared up at the man, Definitely going to make some kind of announcement. The question was what? However, as the words began to pour out of the man’s mouth like water from a burst pipe, Ben’s mood shifted from benign amusement, to slow, wary, confusion.
"So I see two of you have popped out of the wood-works... fair enough. Are you here to join me in recreating this filth so that those like us will truly have the power? I should hope so. If not, then either stay out of my way... or face the consequences. As for the rest of you... worms..."
Damn.
It was only then that Ben noticed the drastic chance in atmosphere around him. People were now not only gathering in confusion, but fleeing in panic, the screams growing louder and louder as every dark syllable split forth from this man atop the glowing sign. He felt more rumbling beneath his feet, and it was only then that he turned his head to see black metal vans screeching to a halt. Bulletproof tires screeched on the asphalt as dozens of armed SWAT team members leapt out, guns ablaze as the shiny metal barrels each slid out, cocking as they pointed up at the cryokinetic with a click. Ben froze in place, staring around up him as he realized that he now stood alone on the right side of the Coca Cola sign…
Damn.
This was serious. All the happy relief at finding someone with abilities had been sucked right out of him, like the air bursting out of a popped balloon. Ben’s breath stopped for a second as time seemed to freeze, revelations flowing through his mind as he stared up into the menacingly cold eyes that now stared down at the pitiful remnants of a crowd beneath him.
I always thought that if I found another person like me, they’d be a hero… a normal guy trying to live with this…
As these thoughts crashed through Ben’s mind, he felt a sudden vibration run through his body. It was tiny, a small tinkling, like thousands of little shards breaking as a vase smashes onto the ground. Like little raindrops pit-pattering onto the earth…
But he’s not a hero…
Ben only had time to put two and two together and leap sideways, force under his feet cracking the ground as he hurtled himself sideways, the force generated by his legs causing him to fly sideways, rolling underneath a concrete awning provided by a small shop as the roaring of SWAT team microphones, and then loud crescendo of a flying helicopter were replaced by the screams of the damned.
He’s a villain….
Ben almost screamed himself as he felt the thousands of projectiles crash into the ground. He could see them, like bullets from God’s machine gun raining down on the earth, smashing against pavement as the icy nails were driven into the ground by gravity’s hammer. He could see the silhouettes of people running, and he gagged as he watched blood explode from people’s bodies, clouds of crimson liquid splashing on the broken road as their bodies were pummeled with icy shard upon icy shard. The sight caused Ben to recoil, almost too much as he felt the thump of every body hit the ground, felt the exploding crash as he saw the helicopter go up in flames, the humongous crash shaking the very building under which he stood. He felt the dangerously quiet tinkles of icy shards smashing on the concrete roof under which he was hiding, and as he stared through the hail of death at the man who caused all this, his breath was taken away by the with which he commanded his element…
Not only am I not the only one…
Ben licked his lips slightly as he felt the growing crescendo of chaos and death around him, his eyes still focused on the sole figure sitting atop the screen, which was now broken and cracked from the shards smashing into it.
But I’m not the best…
But even as this depressing and scary thought shot through his mind, he felt another thump even closer. A SWAT member collapsed in front of the awning, and Ben gasped as a thick icicle protruded from his helmet, the clear serene ice stained with red blood as the SWAT member gasped, flopping over in agony as his life slowly faded away. He managed to open his visor with his final breath, gasping for air as another icy shard slammed down into his back. He coughed out blood as he let his arm collapse, and Ben could only stare at him as he looked up at him, blood running down his cheek as his pale blue eyes faded away. His body shuddered again as another ice shard slammed into his body, penetrating the Kevlar body suit, but this was a dead shudder. The man was dead… Ben hung his head as he felt the now millions of shards slamming into the earth, penetrating cars, people, whatever else was left on the streets. There were hardly any more screams. Those who were still alive had probably taken cover by now… And Ben could not help but feel lost, unable to comprehend what to do now…
No…
He slowly raised his head, his eyes undergoing another transformation as he glanced up at the man on the sign, his body shaking slightly as the vibrations continually fed his body signals… He glanced at the body as he looked back at the man, a new revelation building in his head.
I have power too… I have to do something.
He stood up, his legs shaking slightly as the crashing tremors still resonated in his body. He glanced up at the man, a god amongst insects raining his wrath down upon the world… He breathed in deeply, grinding his foot into the ground as he focused on the man’s position, breathing in as he felt the crashing icicles raining everywhere but on his location, making him as easy to locate as a blip on a map.
He’s not a god…
He felt the familiar vibrations building up in his leg, and he breathed in, letting the sensation build up, knowing that he would need to charge up enough force in order to reach the man… and it was easily a few hundred feet away… He gasped slightly as the sizzling in his leg intensified, and he gritted his teeth as he directed the force, letting it loose with the finesse of an archer releasing an arrow from its taught bow. The force shot through the ground, this time, invisible as it shot through the earth, the force designed this time to not crack the earth, but move invisibly to reach its target. The force slipped through the ground, shooting up the side of the main building, the only signs of its approach being a few cracking windows as the force shot up towards the man. As it reached its target, the fasteners around the window shattered, exploding in array of sparks as the force caused the metal around the sign to explode, overcome with the invisible force fill it, and causing shards of metal shrapnel to explode in every direction, mainly towards the man standing atop them. Additionally, the electrical arcs zapped outward, and with all the water surrounding the man, the electricity would be attracted to him, sending thousands of volts coursing through his body like a Christmas tree dropped in a pool. Ben could only watch as the fireworks began, his teeth gritting as he followed the force with his mind.
He’s a big kid with a magnifying glass, toying with ants.
Arty looked in the direction of Drake. His appearance was comical and Artemis quickly gauged him as in no way a threat. At least, not at the moment. He just turned his attention back to the scene of chaos and misery below, just throwing off the words of the one standing on the roof. As long as none of them interfered then he could give a rat's-ass-less about what happened. His hands continued to conduct a symphony of death as the ice shards started to increase in size... and density. Not only was Artemis able to control and craft water and ice but he could construct it at a molecular level. The ice shards that now rained down were as hard and as indestructible as diamonds. He looked into the eyes of the one he nicknamed "Quake."
What he saw there was something akin to a feeling of disappointment and heartbreak. Good. That told him something about this one... that he was apparently one of the many with powers that probably felt outside of society or like they couldn't relate to others. He assumed this one also probably was either unaware of others with powers or alienated. Either way, Arty hoped that he learned a valuable lesson here today -- that they were Gods and that this was a true demonstration of power. Hopefully he would take a note out of Artemis' book and join in the destruction with him.
That was not to be the case though.
Artemis was surprised only slightly. This time he had a warning. It not only came in the form of the look in that boy's eyes but in the sound of the windows below creaking and finally shattering. This one was good -- then again, most who played around with waves or vibrations usually were, even if they didn't have that much training. Artemis' senses let him take a superior command in this element though. He brought the rain of ice shards close to him, as to focus up and form a barrier to protect him from the shards of metal, as he lept up and onto a platform of ice, away from the sign.
The molecules let him literally taste the electricity before it reached him. With an intense effort he shifted the pattern of water molecules around him... and rerouted the electricity back towards Quake. It was an old saying that if a person knew one's self, then they truly were a master of their own. Artemis had dealt with plenty of electrokinetics in his day to figure out how to use that power against them. Electricity was strong and virtually the fastest moving thing around but if you knew it was coming even a simple human could redirect it to his or her own purpose and desire. He could feel the tingling of the electricity through those molecules, but he figured it wouldn't hurt nearly as bad as the shock itself once it hit Quake, which was now only mere feet away from the blast.
"All too easy."
Artemis rose higher in the sky and brought his hands down into a relaxed position, causing the ice shards to rain down heavier. As he did though, he could feel the sweat on his brow. He was using up a decent amount of energy and even with his training there was nothing close to perfection in his form. However, he felt confident about the fight so far and at the moment had no real concern, so he would continuing toying around with them and flaunting his abilities. Only if things got serious, would he.
