You can buy them from certain shops. For instance, one shop that sells sleights is in the First District of Traverse Town.

You highlight their name in the player radar. Then click invite, once they have recieved the invitation, the leader of the group(whoever sent the invites) will lead the group to where ever you wish to go.

Level up a little, and find heartless in Traverse Town. They'll drop some shards that you can sell for munny.

When you die, you simply are taken back to the last place you were at. And, you'll have one HP so just go back to Gigas Hall for free healing.
