I said I'd put this up sometime last month, but I decided to do other things instead. Doesn't matter now though since it's been implemented.

This is pretty straightforward: all mods including site staff can now give you infraction points. Depending on how many points you decide to rack up, you can be banned. Alternatively, you can choose to heed your warning and not get banned at all.

Infraction level	Points	Expires in…	Additional notes
Frivolous posting	10 points	One month	Spamming to play the Inferno, get to premium, etc.
Minor harassment	10 points	One month
Spamming	10 points	One month	Includes posting something that was previously deleted
Flaming	30 points	One year
Explicit content	90 points	One year	Posting porn or extremely violent material (pending permanent ban)
Bot advertising	150 points	Never

You are automatically banned once you accumulate…

Points	Consequences
30 points	Three day ban
60 points	Two week ban
90 points	One month ban
120 points	Two month ban
150 points	Two year ban

Hopefully this works out. But I haven't seen a big problem with spamming in these forums.

This seems fairly tolerable. I'm only slightly fearful of abuse from mods. I mean it should be more reinforced how serious this punishment is. Otherwise it could be used so casually because some mod doesn't like someone. Not to question some mods integrity, but nonetheless it could happen.

That's pretty much why bot advertising is set to a two year ban instead of permanent. I'd have an easier time keeping track of whether or not the system is being abused.

Making derogatory remarks toward other members, harassing them, or otherwise making their stay here one that is abusive and unfun instead of welcoming and enjoyable is considered flaming. Harassment via reputation comments and thread tags will also not be tolerated.

During your first couple of offenses, a message (reply to your post, private message visitor message, etc.) and/or negative rep will be used to warn you, but if the problem persists, bans will be dished out. Each offense will have a longer ban period, eventually leading up to a permanent ban.
