The manga is 8 million times better than the anime, IMHO. The anime lacks the same substance. Animation's great; sure, but it lacks the same qualities of the manga...

...But it's not going to stop me from watching =P

ShEX, the manga is ALWAYS better than the anime. Take .hack//legend of the twilight for instance. Manga was pure ****ing win. The anime sucked balls.

Why didn't I notice this thread sooner?

I love Death Note xD I added it to my Omniversal definition of a death god (considering actual japanese culture is rather vague on shinigami, so I made my own complete definition by mixing all the shinigami from various anime).

Unfortunately, I haven't read the manga, which is something I should really get to doing, I had a feeling it might be better than the anime though. Of course, that's all the more better for me ^_^

Then again, I usually don't like to spoil the story for myself when I've become so involved in the anime... so I might not end up reading it until the anime is finished. Of course, I saw it everywhere when I was in Japan, and they had plenty of advertisements on the televisions about the release of the movie...

So when I came back from Japan I looked it up when I got the chance, and I've like it ever since. I don't get it really, there might be actual fights in the future, I dunno 'cos I haven't read the manga, but it is the only non-violent anime series I've ever liked. Then again... people still die xD There was also Haruhi, but they did have a few awesome battles.

Well, I started reading this thing. It is, of course, no Berserk or 20CB, but it's an awesome manga nonetheless.

i dont get wats goin on in this movie, ok the person wrote a note containing a humans name who is going to die, but where do the floating apple and bat demon thing come into play?!? (it would help if i could read japanese)

The demon is a shinigami, a god of death, to who the Death Note belongs to.
