Default Aoi Bungaku (Blue Literature)

This is one of the new shows starting this season. It appears to have taken a week for the first episode to get subbed, but that's not really surprising for more "low-profile" shows. The show is based off of six, classic pieces of Japanese literature. There are twelve scheduled episodes, which leads me to believe that two episodes will be devoted to each story. It's clear that the art-style is similar to Death Note (but that's not surprising, given who's helping with the artwork), though it seems to be quite a bit darker (at least, for this particular story). The stories are very surreal and cryptic. The best way for me to describe that is to compare the styling to something like Sky Crawlers. It's just that type of show, lol. I enjoyed the first episode, and I'll likely watch the rest of the show. Below are the links to the ANN synopsis (which is basically a list of the literary pieces used) and the first episode. I hope you don't mind megavideo, because I love the quality (in my opinion, second best quality for streaming something; with the first being crunchyroll). Granted, that depends on the quality of the video that was uploaded, lol

Takeshi Obata (Death Note) doing the artwork for "No Longer Human" and "Kokoro"

Takeshi Konomi (Prince of Tennis) is doing the artwork for "Run, Melos!"

Tite Kubo (Bleach) is doing the artwork for "In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom", "The Spider's Thread", and "Hell Screen"

I have no doubt in Obata's artwork, and I have faith that Kubo's artwork will be pretty good as well. I'm a little unsure about Konomi's involvement, but we'll see. Of course, this is all being done under Madhouse; and if there is one company that can make it work, it's Madhouse.

As I said, it's like Sky Crawlers. Very cryptic, lol.

Granted, this is only the first part, so it might make more sense when the next episode is released.
