Default Fairy Tail
Alright, so after stalling on checking out the manga, I decided to watch the newly released first episode of the anime. I have to say, it's just "over-the-top-Shounen" enough to work, lol. Here are the links to the manga and the first episode. Also; w00t, spiral nose!

I love the manga, its a nice lighthearted one majority of the time.

I keep hearing comparisons to One Piece, both in art style and story which I can see somewhat.

But yeah, I'm definatly going to watch this.
Is there any word on how many episodes there will be?

Well, due to the length of the manga, I'd say it'll at least have 26. Other than that, I'm not sure.

It'll probably be far longer... they'll probably make it like Bleach/Naruto/One Piece with 100+ episodes.

I agree I don't think its going to be along the lines of one hit wonders like Gurrenn Lagann and Samurai 7. Fairy Tail is number 4 on the OM charts so I definitely seeing it going far...Hopefully it doesn't veer off into a whole season of filler episodes that doesn't progress the story at all(Naruto).

Really enjoyed the first episode, particularly the fight animation at the end impressed me and it seems to be relatively true to the manga so far. Like all anime that come from manga though the voices sound nothing like I expected.

I'm hoping they perhaps do a 51 episode series.

Or perhaps more.

Theres the Phantom Lord arc that I really want to see animated, but it won't fall into the 51 episode.

Well I was planning to watch the anime, but I am going to start on the manga first then come back and watch the anime. Tend to like to watch the anime at once or at least multiple episodes at once.

I'm always hesitant to say that they'll make a show long because of the manga's popularity. Just look at Air Gear, lol

I like this anime. I don't like to read the manga much because it makes me lose interest in the anime. That's what happened with Pandora Hearts. Maybe when it gets to points where I need to know what's next I'll hop in the manga.

I thought the anime episode was awful.

It doesn't do justice to the manga at all.
