A nubile youth with a fighting spirit and infinite courage in the face of danger with a shining positive outlook that brings the best out of those around him sets out on a seemingly impossible adventure to save the world from an oppressive force much greater than him with the help of a rag-tag group of friends

a member of the group dies horribly in every episode due to the main character's actions, you watch as the group slowly gets picked off one by one until the main character is mentally stripped of all previous virtues and left an empty shell just as he meets the opportunity to duel the evil oppressor and change the course of the world

no longer possessing the will to fight the oppressor easily kills and disposes of him and proceeds to take over the world

turns out that a world-wide takeover and forcible uniting of all nations and people under one rule leads to economic flourishing and prosperity, the world ends up an infinitely better place under the rule of the overlord and he is hailed as a savior of humanity, child and his friends are all forgotten.

-harry potter learns a new kind of magic where he is able to travel to any anime known to man and each episode revolves around his travels to various animes and he uses his power as a wizard to aid the anime heroes/heroines (think kingdom hearts but with anime) - his traveling mates are light yagami and himura kenshin

-a deal or no deal anime where the main character thinks he can beat the system but ends up going home with less money than anticipated because he ended up going too far but the overall theme of the story is that sometimes it's best to play it safe

-an anime set in the future following a nuclear holocaust and the main character is a cockroach

-a sequel to yugioh where little yugi is drafted to the war in iraq and he must learn to cope with life without his old pharaoh buddy by his side

-an anime depicting the events of the revolutionary war through the eyes of a lone soldier who wants to prove himself (the truth behind the "shot heard 'round the world" is explained)
