Bakemonogatari is an upcoming TV anime by studio Shaft, based on the supernatural comedy novels signed by NisiOisiN and set to begin in July 2009. A pretty obvious play on words, the title Bakemonogatari is formed from "bakemono" and "monogatari", loosely translating it to Monster Stories (Monstories?). Each chapter of the original novels revolves around one heroine with different powers (e.g. vampire, weightless etc.), and each chapter's story plays an important role in the next one. The series primarily focuses on a conversation between characters; it contains a certain amount of parody to other series, media, wordplays and metahumor.
It wasn't the trailer that got me interested in this anime. I was just looking at the site I go to for new episode releases of certain anime I watch when I saw the raw of this anime's episode 1. I thought what the hell, why not look at it a little bit.Watched the intro/opening, and now I'm waiting for the subbed version lol.

the plot isnt anything notable based on the fact that there's only one episode out atm but shaft looks like they have themselves another winner here

transitioning borrows some from szs but hey the animation is great and the cinematography is fantastic

looking forward to the porn nine out of ten bottles of melon ramune

Oh yeah, definitely a SHAFT anime. Even though it's only been one episode, I love it already, if only for the visuals. It's showing a pretty good deal of promise I'd say.

Nice to see others enjoying this gem that I found. Raw of episode 2 is out. Waiting to see what other references show up, I've only seen one in episode 1, and that was the FMA one. Also, loving Senjohara-sama.

I just found out a while ago that the main male character is Itoshiki Nozomu's voice actor.
Probably explains why he sounds so familiar.

I really am interested. I wish a sub for episode 2 would come out already...
