Also which ones are the Vasto Lordes? I thought they were just the top Espadas but not sure.

We don't know yet. I am of the opinion that they first 4 are Vasto Lordes, but we are 95% sure that Espadas 6-10 (except 9, which was a Gillian) are Adjuchas, unless Grimmjow is somehow stronger than a Vasto Lorde (I seriously doubt it).

Wait i thought they arent Gillian after they remove their masks? You become an arrcanar when you are able to remove your mask. At least thats what i thought? Adjuchas are ones that havent removed their mask or ones like Grand Fisher....i dont know its confusing. They got way to many names they can be called: Arrcanar, Gillian, Adjuchasa, Menos, Espada, Vasto Lordes, monkies, hollows. just stick with one i say.

The initial strength of an Arrancar, I surmised, was determined by its previous rank upon awakening.

So, Blink, taking this into consideration, an Arrancar that was once a Vasto Lorde would be substantially more powerful than an Arrancar that was Adjuchas. Grimmjow was Adjuchas, I think, he was like a tiger/wolf thing. Pretty awesome.

I can only assume that Ulquiorra was Vasto Lorde, based on the fact that whenever they talk about Vasto Lorde a silhouette resembling him is shown. I know, it's not much for justification.

Then again, I've missed a bit and have no one to discuss it all with.

Arancer=Hollow with Soul Reaper abilities. It's above all ranks of Hollow. Members of Espada WERE Vasto Lordes before meeting Aizen. But now they're Arancer, a completely different class. Grimmjow never made it to Vasto Lordes status, I believe. So yeah. Like RoA said.

The terminology is confusing you, then? Grimmjow is an Arrancar made from an Adjuchas-class Menos. Aaroniero was an Arrancar made from a Gillian-class Menos.

The terminology wasnt confusing me but the fact that they have so many levels. Not sure if this is correct but the levels are in lowest to highest: Hollow, Menos, Gillian, Adjuchas, Arrancar, Vasto Lorde (or Espada not sure). I really dont care i just know 1-4 Espadas are amazingly strong and if Ichgio had trouble with Grimmjow i dont see him beating 1-4 unless Zengetsu teaches him a new technique.

Ok, let's go over this again.

They're all Hollows, essentially. When Hollows start eating each other and merge together, the become a gigantic entity known as the Gillian-class Menos Grande. Some Gillians retain their consciousness, and only these may further evolve down the path of the Menos.

With me so far? After a Gillian has eaten enough Hollows, he becomes an Adjuchas-class Menos Grande, and after an Adjuchas has eaten enough Hollows (plus porbably some other reuiqrement), he becomes a Vasto Lorde-class Menos Grande

So: Menos Grande are the highest type of Hollow, and the 3 classes of Menos Grande are Gillian, Adjuchas and Vasto Lorde.

Now, when a Hollow removes his mask (a nromal Hollow or a Menos, it makes no differnce) or has his mask artifically removed (Aizen's hoygyoku) he becomes an Arrancar. Any Hollow can go through this process.

So you can have a a Normal Arrancar (Grand Fisher), a Gillian-class Arrancar (Aaroniero), an Adjuchas-class Arrancar (Grimmjow) or a Vasto Lorde Arrancar. The point is that any Hollow can become an Arrancar.

As for the Espada, that is merely Aizen's classification for his 10 strongest Arrancar, and the ranks have all 3 kinds of Menos (Vasto Lordes, Adjuchas and Gillians). So Espada is not a term use use to identify a Hollow, it's merely a rank in Aizen's army
