actually it just places him in the list first, not that he is the 1st espada (not that im denying its most likely) but for an exact reference heres a line from wiki:

Only one of the Espada, an older, grumpy-looking man with a crown-like mask on his forehead, has yet to be named. However, he holds one of the top three ranks, along with Stark and Halibel.

further down, it never mentions the number in the individual profiles of the three

well when the espada met Nnoitra did kinda call Halibel a coward before Grimmjow tried to get up and leave. though they haven't had much contact in the series as far as i am aware of so far.

I think the Old man is 1 because just like the Gotei 13 a old man is a leader..makes sense yeah?
Halibel could be 3 to replace Nel..yeah?
Stark is just 2 thats all

Im pretty sure stark is either no.1 or no.2 and if he's not 1 then the old guy probally is. I cant imagine halibel any higher than 3.

Stark is the lazy or tired one right? i think he's #1 and the old man is #2 just based on the way they act which would make #3 Halibel.

Well the numbers were given to the people in the order they became Espadas right? So that means 1 isnt the most powerful just the first espada. I dont remember if thats right but i thought i heard that somewhere. But if its right then the Old guy would be 1.
