Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Yes i liked RahXephon a lot more because all the things Kid A said. I can't take anything away from NGE it's really good, but that ending... it bothers me a bit. Never saw the english dubbed version, but yeah doesn't matter how good a VA is when the character itself is just plain bad. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | The regular ending from the series, episodes 25 and 26, just because it was a bit confusing. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's been a while since I've watched it, but I'll do my best. Okay, so after Asuka is killed and Adam and Lillith merge to form the fruit of life, Shinji snaps. Unit 1 is used by the mass produced Eva and Lance of Longinus to form the Sephirot, the ten possible manifestations of God, and the Tree of Knowledge, from which humanity originally ate. The resulting explosion from the creation of the tree breaches the geofront, and exposes the Egg of Lilith. The combined Adam/Lilith/Rei approaches Shinji, who relinquishes his AT Field after he witnesses the angel take the form of Kaworu, and then places him and Unit 1 into the Egg of Lilith. Shinji, at this point, has more or less become God. Retreating into his subconscious, he attempts to tell the Asuka in his mind that he loves her, but is rejected and told that he is incapable of loving others. In outrage, he attempts to strangle her, signifying his acceptance of instrumentality. With Shinji's decision, Rei begins to manifest in different forms to people around the world, using the image of someone they love to break down their AT Field. Without those barriers, people begin to meld together as LCL, forming a single entity, a mental God. Shinji is placed inside Adam/Lilith/Rei/Kaworu, left seperate of everyone else. A series of introspective scenes take place (and some even suggest that the original episodes 25 and 26 occur here), and Shinji decides that it's better to live as an individual than as a single entity. The Lilith entity begins to die and decompose, and egg of Lilith melts, the MP Evas fall down to earth in crucified poses, and Eva 01 drifts through space in a fossilized state. Shinji has one last conversation with his mother, who tells him that even though people have dissappeared because of instrumentality, they can return if they have the heart to do so. There's a final flashback of Yui and Fyutsuki, where Yui tells him that even if humanity DOES perish, it will forever live on in the form of Eva, which will outlive the sun, the sky, and everything. Shinji, as an individual entity, awakens on the dead earth, next to Asuka, the second human to reject instrumentality and the first to return with Shinji. Still terrified of the bonds between people, however, Shinji attempts to kill Asuka. She strokes his cheek, and he remembers why he brought people back in the first place. Breaking down, Asuka looks at him and mutters, 'How disgusting'. The final comment could mean a couple of things, but I always thought of it as one of three things, either 1.Asuka is repulsed by Shinji's weakness, despite all that has happened, bringing into question whether or not it was right for him to reject instrumentality. 2.Asuka is commenting on what the world has become, and what is left of humanity. 3. Anno has commented that the original translation was closer to 'I feel sick', and told Asuka's VA that it was a morning sickness kind of sick, proposing that Shinji had possibly raped her/had sex with her, and that she was pregnant. Kind of out there, but still a possiblity. It's really not all that confusing, if you think about it. |

| Sidekick | Sorry if I'm bit off the conversation, but I love this anmie! Didn't like it when it used to come on Adult Swim because it looked weird to me. But after watching it a few more times from the beginning, I fell in love with this anime. <3 |
