I really liked the flashback to when Aang and Appa first met was shown in the episode. It was so adorable and just really sweet when they switched from Appa remembering his past with Aang to Aang dreaming about it.

'The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra': Exclusive First Look - Speakeasy - WSJ
FOAMING AND FLAILING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
will edit with more coherency.
EDIT: AHHHHHHHHHHHHH -foams at mouth-
She looks so badass! Well, can't judge from one picture but I think her best elements are Water and Fire (probably despite how both are opposites)

From the picture I can see her being 18 or 19 years old.
Although it should take years to master an element, at least that is the amount of time it took other Avatars to master all their elements and she has mastered 3 right now.
Do we know what qualifies one as a master in the different elements other than air?
(5am here, so I have no thinking power right now XD)
I'm guessing the level of skill is tested by the master. If the master can't teach anymore, then the Avatar is a master at the element. They probably continue to train to be even better, but I'm sure once a level is reached they can be considered a master.

Hmm all I know is that for an airbender to become a master they must complete 36 levels of airbending and create their own technique. However Aang only completed 35 levels of airbending. Pehaps the other nations have something similar.

I'm sure they do, but considering everything that happened with Sozin, Azulon, and Ozai, I'm sure some of those practices are dead...and considering this is the start of mainstream steam power era for the Avatar world, I'd find that these beliefs are slowly being thrown away for contemporary methods of learning. I don't know what would replace the levels like in airbending, but I'm sure it has changed.
Wow. I can't believe that's the only news we got since, like, November or something.

Get hyped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!
Lol I know it's not much but having this much is enough to fuel the flame in my interest :D
I wonder how everything's gonna change. I'm sure a lot of the firebending methods are different. And like you guys have already said the airbending methods much have changed. But...aren't airbenders extinct (i know they're not cuz of Aang and his offspring) but there wouldn't be enough airbenders to call for a formal training system like they did back when the nomads were alive. :/

I don't think you should get hyped right now. It will be a long wait for the series and the hype only makes it worse. XD
I'm more interested in what other characters will be in the series (It was nice to see some names at least). I am not too interested in Korra right now for me to get too hyped, maybe when we get more info on her.
With one person, using the formar way of training air benders would be ridiculously hard. XD Although their population can be brought up if Aang or Tenzin had many kids and then they had kids and.... you get the idea after hundreds of years. Aang may have used the 35 level test on Tenzin and Tenzin could have passed it down. We may never know.
Although in a change of subject how did they manage to kill all the airbenders in the world? Surely some must have escaped. Oh well... poor air benders.
I would like for them to make a series before The last air bender at some point or a series which isn't about an Avatar. I can dream...
