I haven't seen the first one because it was all in Japanese, is there one dubbed/subbed in English? I couldn't find anything...

I dont hate him, hell he's one of my favorite main characters ever. It's just that, that particular ending is tons better way to end the series, in my personal opinion.

It was a good ending.
Although it pained me to watch (and read) how he died.
All that dignity, composure, just gone.
And then he was pathetic and begging for his life.
...It's pretty frickin awesome.

But I want to see what would have happened had Kira prevailed or something along those lines.

As stated prior, Light's psuedo happy ending.

I too was disapointed with Light's death. Crime rates decreasing by 70% ?! They should've just kept him in power. It would be ironic that after everyone realizes that Kira's gone, Crime would increase and it would be worse than ever. Bombs setting off everywhere, Wars starting. Now, everyone's gonna let loose. The people who were Kira supporters would try to continue what Light has started.

It doesn't. That was a one-shot doujinshi and, as such, is not canon.
