I forget what episode, but while Light and L were talking in some restaurant, Light got a phone call saying that his dad had a heart attack. What caused his heart attack if no one wrote his name in the death note at the time?

Oh wow. Have you forgotten entirely that heart attacks are a completely normal condition? They aren't all caused by supernatural notebooks.

Death Note is a good series; action packed and suspenseful. A lot of reading in the manga though.

If that's true, then just how we got L's funeral scene we might get a) a new scene or b)scenes from the manga (light's painful death and the final chapter with the kira supporters)

I wasn't pleased with Light's death. It was quite saddening to see that he had lost. Although, the alternate ending that the TV special provided managed to place a smile on my face.
