I'm glad Light died. I think the guy got what he deserved. Granted, he's an awesome character, but his death had karma written all over it.

I'm just kind of disappointed Near got all the credit for it. I really wish the series would have at least one damn ending where Light or L won and one ended up surviving the ordeal. But uh, after watching through the dub, I've lightened up on Near quite a bit. Still don't consider him on par with L though.

We almost had that with the Director's Cut, but the Ryuk had to follow through with what he said. I guess a Light with no competition just was not entertaining enough for him.

As for Near, now that I think about it, I don't believe anyone really gave him full credit, not even himself. Everyone knows that L did most of the work; Near just finished the job and survived. Although he says he surpassed L, he also admitted that he could not have captured Kira if it were not for Mello and I'm sure he knows that his victory could not have been ascertained without L's progress.

Yeah, I guess my [previous] blind hatred for Near was pretty unjustified. I just remember during my first time watching the series, it was just hard for me to enjoy Near when he appeared as nothing more than a cardboard copy of L. But as for the credit issue, I guess you're right, now that I think about it as well.

Yeah, his appearance and habits made it a bit difficult to see him as much else.

The mask at the end of the series didn't help matters much either.

Well I didn't say that because I like Light (although I do) I said it because Near was a pale imitation of the L we knew and loved. He didn't figure anything out by himself, and if it weren't for Mello, he would have died.

yeah the show just hasn't been as good since L died.

Manga puts the show to freaking shame.
2nd half of series in manga > the anime. Seriously. The manga just makes everything so much more clear and awesome.

Yeah, Brad Swaile wasn't quite on par with his Japanese counterpart, but he definitely did the laugh justice (lol pun).
