he lives for an extra 23 days and solves one last case. What happens is when he dies in episode 25 (anime), thats actually a fake heartattack. he later goes to the hospital and tells the doctors to not let people know that he is alive and with the last 23 days of his life he solves one last case. im pretty sure of this but im not certain. my fiend lives in japan and his is what he told me. hope it helps

That only goes for his movie counterpart. In the manga and anime, he dies.

In the Movie, L writes his own name in the Death Note, therefore when Rem goes to kill him, the time in which Rem sets him to die is overruled as L has already marked himself for Death at a later time. Therefore, L defeats Light and lives for another few weeks, before dying from the arranged death he set for himself.

This is simply the Movie's alteration of the storyline, which is non-canon, but overall favoring L as the victor. There was also a "Directors Cut" of the first 26 episodes of the Death Note anime compiled into a 2-hour special with a few scenes added (also most likely non-canon), which had an ending favoring Light and his victory.

yeah i thought so. well, atleast in the movie he outlives light. L is the best character ever made....go to youtube and search "L dies deathnote hear you me". its a really good tribute that will make you cry if you were really into the L character. Like me...

I planned to see it while I had my little trip to Singapore but I heard the feedback on the movie wasn't too good.

I kinda noticed that they were talking about the year 2012, when Light joined the task force. And when his killings started getting to be even more.

Isn't that the same year that the Mayans predicted the world would end, or whatever happens with their calender?

Well, being Japanese films that have not been released in the States, they is only going to have popularity among that fans the series had already garnered, and they have a rather mixed standing with them as it is.

Well, it actually is most commonly believed to be the end of the world, to those who actually think it will end then anyway. Though there are other theories as to what may happen then.
