Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Animated Film First Trailer Revealed!!!!!
It's rumor no more. The voice cast for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns has been revealed courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. It is a two part animated film, with the first part to be released on October 23rd. The second part will be released early 2013.
Peter Weller (of Robocop Fame) will be voicing Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Ariel Winter (of Modern Family fame) will be voicing Carrie Kelly/Robin.
Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face
and David Selby in an unspecified role.
Spoiler: Screenshots:
As expected, I've already seen the usual " DC why y u no cast Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and the Joker?". Some people have been taken aback by Robocop voicing Bruce Wayne. I've personally never seen any of the above movies or TV shows but I think everyone so far is a good fit for their roles.
If anything, I think Ariel Winter will need yo be somewhat serious in her role as Robin. I know both she and Carrie are 13, but the last thing her voice needs to be like is "omg look at those shoes! They are sooo cuuuute~"
Thoughts? Opinions?
Oh for those who don't know:
"The Dark Knight Returns tells the story of a 55-year-old Bruce Wayne who comes out of retirement to fight crime, only to face opposition from the Gotham City police force and the United States government."

The Hero's Hat, you do know Ariel Winter has done voice acting before...sure she was just Moogle and little Kairi but I really doubt she'll be anything like what you described. And on Modern Family she's is the more laid back child who thinks her older sister spends too much time in the mirror. She'll do fine as Carrie.
Welcome to the forums. Here at KHI your life will eventually become centered. You may try to leave eventually, but after a while, you'll come back. So, Welcome... forever.
^^You'd be surprised by how accurate that statement is. O_o
I'm excited for this movie, though it's not surprising that Kevin Conroy isn't voicing Batman. Same with Mark Hamill, since he said he would stop voicing Joker after Arkham City.

Mark Hamill was actually just spotted providing voices for DCU Online. It's unknown whether or not he did it before Arkham City though. And even though Conroy did play an older Bruce in the DCAU, I don't think he would be suited to voice Bruce/Batman in TDKR. We need someone gruffer.
And yes, do read The Dark Knight Returns. It's somewhat dated due in part to it's Cold War aspects, but it's an incredibly influential Bat book and every page is literally brimming with action.

Actually yes, I totally agree with this. The Joker of this canon has been in a years long catatonic state. He's more of a mellowed out psychotic killer than the goof ball Mark Hamill-esque Joker we're accustomed to.
Just when I thought I was done fapping, you post this.
This really hasn't been shown outside of comics before, has it? I'll watch it. I know it won't happen, but I am holding out a little hope for that Batman in his 50s/Superman fight I've heard so much about.

Go read the comic. The fight happens. Should happen in this as well.
