Not all dubstep has to have a heavy wobble for it to be considered dubstep.
And Skrill can stay :3

No, I know, I just hear a distinctive lack of any sort of wub in those pieces but that could be my error.

I wonder when Skrillex is gonna release some new stuff. Also you guys should listen to "Internet Friends" by Knife Party if you haven't already.
painfully obvious lack of daze here
Spoiler: DAZE's sleepyhead (passion pit) remix
Spoiler: DAZE's starry eyed (ellie goulding) remix
funky shit a la daft punk if you're into them
agreed
also would be solid if we could spoilertag the embedded youtube videos because i like not giving my laptop an aneurysm with each page load
ok let's stop the overclassification storm before it even starts
because you can get a lot of shit mixed up with the electronic genre and i dont want to see anyone start talking about simmertrip drum sub-bass psychostep chillcore WHATEVER bullshit
honestly if you think its dubstep go ahead and post it but arguments over what is dubstep and what isn't is a rehash of every stupid pointless argument in the history of subjectivity (not to mention that probably belongs on last.fm if you want to have any substantial discussion on it)
what, personally, defines dubstep for me is the frequency modulations so i am not sure if any tracks without it would just fall into a different electronic genre (house/glitch-hop/etc) but you know what who cares its music, you either like it or you dont and there's no need to overtalk about it because it makes you look like an elitist cunt ヘ( ̄▽ ̄*)ノ
^ Lmao, yeah. I don't know. When I listen to dubstep I prefer the more "traditional definition" of dubstep, and don't get too close to the more electronic-y elements purely because it isn't my cup of tea. Weird, though, if it's under the trance/Goa trance moniker I'm more lax on it. Probably a bit stricter because I've not experienced a great deal of quality dubstep as of late (see: past year) that adheres to my pickiness.
that's understandable. there isn't a whole lot of quality dubstep out there because it's a trendy thing right now. people are just trying to break their name and whatever weird junk they can come up with into the genre because its making money.
in my opinion most of the actually pleasant-to-listen-to electronica was produced and mixed before 2000 even came around. i'd say it peaked with trip-hop and massive attack's "mezzanine" in '98. but there are good things out there. its just, a lot of shit gets the tag dubstep and people are like wAAOOH ROBOT NOISES WHAT IS THIS ITS COOL
when...you know, there are artists that have been mixing for quite a lot longer than, whatever, youtube has been around to cater to young greasy middle schoolers that latch onto catchphrases and trends like the fathers they never had <_<
We hadn't even remotely stepped onto that area of conversation. No one said anything about drum n bass or glitch-hop or what have you. Hell, we were just adding discussion about one song.ok let's stop the overclassification storm before it even starts
because you can get a lot of shit mixed up with the electronic genre and i dont want to see anyone start talking about simmertrip drum sub-bass psychostep chillcore WHATEVER bullshit
The entire 'what is dubstep' has gone on for an eternity. I think I speak on behalf of myself and everyone included in this thread that no one gives two shits about what subcategories of electronic/dubstep a song goes into. It's just a broad generalization of our own opinion as to what is and what isn't. Which is the main reason this thread exists.honestly if you think its dubstep go ahead and post it but arguments over what is dubstep and what isn't is a rehash of every stupid pointless argument in the history of subjectivity (not to mention that probably belongs on last.fm if you want to have any substantial discussion on it)
And here I was thinking that we were posting on a discussion forum.what, personally, defines dubstep for me is the frequency modulations so i am not sure if any tracks without it would just fall into a different electronic genre (house/glitch-hop/etc) but you know what who cares its music, you either like it or you dont and there's no need to overtalk about it because it makes you look like an elitist cunt ヘ( ̄▽ ̄*)ノ

and beginning to twist your panties in a knot over what constitutes dubstep and what doesn't. i am pretty sure that's what "not all dubstep has to have a heavy wobble for it to be considered dubstep." introduces into the thread, though i could definitely have made a mistake by assuming you'd take the leap into reclassifying songs that don't fit into the dubstep crown
thanks for paraphrasing my entire post
right, it must be semantics debate/skrillex circlejerk. i guess we are both wrong here!
ANYWAY
PANTyRAid - Superior
Okay, this is hot. There's something quintessentially sexy and evil about that drop. I love evil-sounding songs. My aunt used to have this CD (it wasn't dubstep, more like trance) with a dolphin on it and it had the sexiest song on it. So dark, so velvety. I really cannot remember it...
What. I'm not the most educated man on the planet (obvi) but I don't know jack shit about the dubstep crown. I literally learned that there were different types of techno like last month. So when I say, "not all dubstep has to have a heavy wobble for it to be considered dubstep." that's basically the pinnacle of my knowledge. And I'm sure you'd agree with that statement. I just listen to the music and make some occasionally
tl;dr I don't take it seriously enough to get my jimmies rustled.
'Tis a good song btw.
