My friend: Trivium is the best metal band
Me: I think Between the Buried and Me is
My friend: Dude there's no way they're better than Trivium
Me: You haven't ever listened to them
My friend: That's because they suck and Trivium is better than them
    Me: :I

    later at the store

My friend: Dude don't buy that album (Great Misdirect) there are only 6 songs on it
    Me: 17 minutes, 14 minutes, 11 minutes...
My friend: Wow they must suck if all they can do is play the same thing over and over for 17 minutes
    Me: :I

I would not say Trivium is the best, but they are good. However, the second conversation is retarded.

I got there 15 minutes late, but they had just started Home when I showed up. Then they played Constant Motion, then Panic Attack, and closed with Pull Me Under. James' voice hasn't changed at all, and it was great.

So... who else is going to theaters to see the Big Four concert because they can't go to Sonisphere?

Awesome, they didn't play Home at the show I went to. It's a shame because I love that song.

And I'm going to see the Big Four. Damn Europe for getting the amazing concerts...

If I may ask. Who is the "Big Four"?

The "Big Four" of Thrash Metal. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax.

I also used to be quite the fan of Trivium. Still like 'em, but not nearly as much.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, they definitely would be the Big Four. I'm more up to date with modern metal than oldies. Lolz.

Trivium's alright, but I don't think anything they can ever do will be close to touching Between The Buried And Me.
i know it's all been done before

i want to do it again.

I agree nothing Trivium will do will be as good or as technical as BTBAM. Paul Waggoner is one of my biggest influences. His solos are so beautiful.

    Trivium? Eh...
I only like the cover they did of Sepultura's Slave New World and Shattering the Skies Above for the GoW: Blood and Metal album.

Well, I'm not sure how Trivium could never touch Between The Buried and Me, they're completely different sounds. They shouldn't be lumped together to begin with.

And although I do think they're good. I definitely couldn't say BTBAM is thaaat amazing of a band. They're alright.

Perhaps if they did more with their keyes and vocals, then it wouldn't sound so stale in my opinion. Sure they are skilled; but I don't care to sit down and listen to ten minutes of the same sounds over and over.

Songs past the 10 minute mark are really great, in my opinion. That's why I love Dream Theater as much as I do and decided to give Opeth a try.

Dream Theater is a great band. I don't listen to many bands who's songs past 10 minutes but the bands i do listen to the entire song is usually worth it for me.

Anyone care for Chelsea Grin, or Dr. Acula?
