Default Re: 2008-09 NBA Season

Well i am not huge basketball fan, but I do like the playoffs so guess i will make some picks.
Eastern Conference
1. Cleveland vs Detroit- Cleveland in 5. The Cavs are the best team in my opinion and Lebron really knows how to play as well as get his whole team into the game. I can see them dominating the East.
2. Boston vs Chicago - I will go out on the limb and say Chicago in 7. Yes Boston is a good team and great chance they will win, but minus a KG might hurt them even with others that can play. I just like the way Rose has played this year and think he might be able to show some more flash to get his team past Boston.
3. Orlando vs Philadelphia- Orlando in 6. Defense by D-Howard will really make this series.
4. Miami vs Atlanta - This would be hard. In the end I think Wade will lead his team past Atlanta in 7.

1. L.A vs Utah- Well as much as I like Utah I don't see them winning this again LA. Lakers are jsut too powerful this year and I see them taking this in 5.
2. Denver vs New Orleans- Paul is playing so I can see this as the upset in the West with NO winning in 6.
3. San Antonio vs Dallas- No Ginobili but I think SA is one of the best playoff teams. I can see Parker and Duncan stepping up to take the series in 6.
4. Portland vs Houston- Wait I thought Portland moved? or was that the Sonics? anayway Houston in 6.

It was the Sonics that moved. Now the OKC Thunder.

I agree with the outcome in 1,2,3 of the East, and your whole West. But as much as I love Dwayne Wade, I think Atlanta will take it in 7.

The Magic aren't hitting the perimeter jump shots. If they die by the 3 the entire series, I think the 76ers have a tiny gilmmer of hope.

I guess I'll post my predictions.

East:

Cavs vs. Pistons - Cavs in 4. Let's face it. The Pistons are not the team they were when Billups was on the team, or when they won the championship in 2004. And with LeBron, the Cavs will just dominate.

Celtics vs. Bulls - I'm going to stick on the side of my home-team and say they will eliminate the defending champs in 7, with D-Rose leading them. Without KG in a uniform, the Celtics' frontcourt will be hurt and out-rebounded.

Magic vs. Sixers - Dwight Howard WILL be the Defensive Play of the Year, and he WILL dominate in this series, as well as Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkgolu. Magic in 4. Magic are already dominating right now in Game 1. EDIT: Magic just lost, so I'm going to say Magic in 5.

Hawks vs. Heat - I'll try to keep my hate for D-Wade and the Heat to a minimum. I firmly believe that Joe Johnson, Josh Smith (one of the best defenders in the league), Al Horford, Mike Bibby, and Marvin Williams will lead the Hawks over the Heat in 7.

West:

Lakers vs. Utah - With my love for the Lakers aside, there's no way the Jazz can hope to win a single game over the Lakers. I really like Utah, but seriously. Lakers in 4.

Nuggets vs. Hornets - Chris Paul will be a dominate force for the Hornets, but defending Mr. Big Shot will be difficult. Carmelo and Chauncey will lead the Nuggets to win in 6.

Spurs vs. Mavs - The Mavs have already won game 1. I like both teams, so this is difficult for me. I'll say Spurs in a difficult game 7.

Rockets vs. Trailblazers - Yao and the Rockets already dominated the Blazers in the first game. Hopefully, they'll win in 5 and finally get out of the first round.

Finals:

Cavs vs Lakers - This will be a really, really, really, really, really difficult series for both teams. Guarding LeBron will be difficult enough, and leaving Mo Williams out on the wing will kill you. But, guarding Kobe is also very difficult, and guarding Pau, Ariza, and Bynum? This is a very difficult decision, but I'm confident that Kobe, Pau, and Bynum will lead the Lakers to win against the Cavs in 7 difficult games.

Mike, you forgot to mention Delonte West in your Finals prediction. He could be the X-Factor in that series I think, since I believe Delonte didn't play when the Lakers beat the Cavs at the Q.

Close game in Orlando, 76ers only down by 3 with 1:42

Argh >_< I keep forgetting about him.

And you're right, he could be the X-Factor, but I'm standing by my decision that the Lakers will win in 7.

LeBron will get the season MVP award, though, no matter who wins.

Damn, man. It seems every road team, except the Jazz, is just killing the home teams right now. EDIT: I forgot, the Pistons got murked.

But, Hawks are looking good right now in the 1st. 16-10.

You forgot how the Pistons got wrecked yesterday.

But going back to the X-Factor of Cleveland in my opinion being Delonte, he can be the difference in the game.

Hawks just beasted the Heat, 90-64. Josh Smith beasted with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

OK didnt see this thread so disregard my other thread.

Thank God my Rockets will get out of the first round (or so it seems). I heard the Portland analysts saying that they were going to sweep Houston.

Hmmm something disturbing arose out of Orlando that could hurt the Magic chances.Howard scratched eye?
I know it says he will be ready for game 2, but they need that guy 100% right now to be able to make their run. Of course he is going to need someone around him to step up as well. They were hot through March posting a 15-7 record to end their season, and the 76ers went 11-12. Orlando should win this series just based on momentum, but they need more than Howard giving a big game.

So Mike Brown was Coach of the Year, as expected. He blew every other coach out of the water in voting with 355 votes. The coach in second place was Rick Adelman (Houston) and he only had 151.

I think Orlando will still win, but for the city's sake I hope that the 76ers will pull through

If Bulls keep performing like they did in the 2nd quarter, I don't see the Celtics winning this game. If they lose today, I believe the Bulls will sweep them at home.

And yes! Rajon Rondo and Leon Powe are both injured!
