Rep Power: 1 ![]() | I know some people who argue that Code Geass is very similar to Death Note, and who cares if it is. But then some wondered which was better Code Geass or Death Note? They argued and whinned, but never really came to a answer so I was curious what everyone here thought of which is better, but you can't just say because or that its awesome, its not a good enough reason, believe me I know. So lets have a good old fashioned anime debate about which is better or if neither are better because some were arguing that both series are not that good, well they used different words but I think everyone here can restrain themselves from cursing and getting banned, so which series do you chose? Please reply back and thanks to all those who do. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Well, I just started watching Code Geass(hooked already though), so I can't really give a full answer. So far though, it'd have to be Death Note. The brilliant plans Light comes up with, plus L's pure genius make it so addicting, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next. The Last 2 episodes of DN literally had my heart pounding with excitment and curiosity. So for now, I'd say Death Note, but as I watch Code Geass more, I might change my mind. |

We try to keep this section serious by demoting the shitty animes to the stickies (Death Note being the only acceptable one there) Last edited by chaywa; 06/30/08 at 11:26 PM.

| DON'T LOOK AT MY FACE | ... but you can't compare them. Code Geass: Mecha/supernatural anime DeathNote: supernatural/detective anime the only reason ppl compare them is because of the supernatural parts and the main charecters both happen to have superiority complexes. I suppose you could also compare the plots, but that's a very thin line. So then you could compare the few parts of them in common, so it would be down to... Geass vs. DeathNote Lelouch vs. Light And you would have to debate on that. But, there's way more to each anime (Code Geass has action and more lulz, DeathNote has more loveable men and more complexity). So it really comes down to opinion. I get that it comes down to opinion in the first place, but it end's up as... Do I like mecha anime or detective anime? So the few things they have in common become pointless Last edited by Steve; 06/30/08 at 11:49 PM. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | So then someone close this thread, or come up with something else. Or just argue about mecha animes being better or detective animes, which is kinda my point because they have one thing in common supernatural, so its really whether a person likes the mecha or likes the detective or none of these the point for the neither selection. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | I've only seen like maybe 5 episodes of Code Geass, and it was hard to keep my eyes on the screen. It was interesting but...I just don't like it. There was a bit of comedy, I know wat's going on, and the story is good so far but it's missing that element that makes me like an anime, an element that I can't explain. It just doesn't do it 4 me. Deathnote however kept my attention. Lots of suspense, lots of parts that made me go "wtf? that was awesome!" and I was on the edge of my seat. True, the more recent episodes have gotten me annoyed, and I'm glad the last episode is coming up cuz if it went on any longer I'd stop watching it cuz I'm so sick of Light. Overall, Death Note is better, but I won't say either is in my top 10 favorites. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Death Note isn't full of homosexual, anorexic protagonists that have french names despite being british/japanese. tl;dr Code Gay-ass doesn't even compare. |

But, since this is a pointless thread, might as well respond. Japanese Charecters: Suzaku Kururugi- Kaname Ohgi- Shinichirō Tamaki. All sound japanese Britannian Charecters: Lelouch Lamperouge- Nina Einstein- Shirley Fenette. All sound English/European tl;dr your point makes no sense anyway, thread is still retarted.

Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() ![]() | LeLouch Lamperouge sounds more french than british especially with the "Le" in the beginning of his name, and the "rouge" part of his name. I was only really referring to him anyway. Oh and for the record, I've seen all of the first season and still watching the second =/ Code Geass isn't as good as Death Note in any way whatsoever. |

| Farmer | I've still yet to see how Code Geass and Death Note are similar. They're two completely different genres. The only minor similarity is that both involve a character gaining some sort of supernatural ability and using it for self-gain. That's where the similarities stop. Personally, you can't really compare the two. Both are good, but for different reasons. It's just a matter of opinion of what genre you like more. But uh, I'd say Death Note is far better. Granted, Geass hasn't ended yet, but there have been several episodes where I'm just like, "shit, let's pick up the pace already." Every episode in Death Note (and I say every episode without hesitation) had me entertained from beginning to end. The characters in Death Note were more interesting, albeit Light and his enemies being borderline unrealistically smart can be a turnoff at times. But uh, at least its original. I'd rather have unrealistically smart than unrealistically powerful (like you faggots over there Bleach). As for Geass, there's just too many damn, generic characters to give a shit about half of them. I like both, but Death Note's infinitely better in quality and presentation. Geass is an enjoyable on-going anime that has given me a bit to speculate about. However, once it's over, I probably won't bother with it ever again. But with Death Note, I have the episodes downloaded on my computer, and I still continue to watch it on occasion. Anyway, long story short, it depends on what genre you like more. |

| [The End of Everything] | I'd have to say Death Note. Because Code Geass, while a great anime, only gets truly interesting after roughly 10 episodes, both seasons. Not to mention that I like the overall plot of DN more, thought that the show had more depth, a better storyline, and managed to keep me interested in every episode. And I like Light more than Lelouch. Quote:
