| fucking appalling | Junji Ito is the author of Japanese horror manga. He is known for creating Uzumaki, Gyo, and The Enigma of Amigara Fault, among many others. His work is very unsettling, and Ito is one of the few authors of this kind to create a lasting impression with me. The Enigma of Amigara Fault Last edited by Eli; 06/14/08 at 04:39 PM. |

| Up So High | I wasn't familiar with him until reading The Enigma of Amigara Fault (thanks for the link, btw.) And that was freaky. Good, but freaky. I especially liked the way he used the dreams, You knew what was going to happen, but that just made it all the more....frightful, for lack of a better word. |

| fucking appalling | Gyo is also really good, that was my introduction to his work. Maybe I'll actually purchase a hard edition of some of this someday. |

| Up So High | I read the first part of Gyo, I just need to find a site that has the rest. That's a very innovative premise to a story. You know, the whole walking fish plot. I honestly thought that sounded a little silly at first, but as it progressed, I find myself more intrigued. The ending where he finds that girl was so freaky. I seem to be at a loss for words, b/c all that comes to my mind is freaky. I'll edit when I finish reading the whole thing or something. Darn it Morningstar, now you have me all interested in this guy and his work. ;D |

| fucking appalling | And as far as the rest goes, I found it on an imageboard, so I can't help you there. Also, this: ![]() Last edited by Eli; 06/16/08 at 02:20 AM. |

| Up So High | So I found it and finished it, and it was very good. But disgusting. And sick. (I can't stand the stench of fish, so this whole thing just made my skin crawl the entire time) And the story really did end up staying with me, though I didn't realize it until dinner, when I couldn't eat any meat, b/c all I could think of were gases coming from rotting flesh. And I read Uzumaki as well. That one was my favorite of the two. It tied together nicely at the end; at first I thought it was just a random compilation of strange stories. It seems like in all three of his works that I've read, his characters get obsessed with something. Spirals, their holes, smells. btw, I think that the disfigured corpse would pwn me at DDR. | fucking appalling | Uzumaki is the next one that I aim to read. I always liked things dealing with shapes and geometry. I'm in the middle of Gyo again now though, I started it earlier. I think it's gotten better the second time around. This one always unnerved me quite a bit, I'd forgotten how freaky it was since I last read it. And I would aslo be destroyed at DDR, I'm terrible at it. |

| Enigmatic Soldier | :< Don't forget Tomie. Tomie is freaky shit. I loved Uzumaki so much though. ;-; The live action movie is so disappointing though! It's too short! The ending had no conclusion! But i loved it all the same. No jack-in-the-box though. Ah well. Junji Ito obviously knows what the hell he's doing. ._. Seriously. He made a PATTERN SCARY. D< |

I might watch this. The part with the pregnant women would just be freaky. Quote:

| Enigmatic Soldier | Unfortunately, my favorite part (being the pregnant misquitos...), is not in the movie. I was really mad. |
