Rep Power: 16 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The series has been adapted into an anime television series, produced by Production I.G and directed by Kenji Kamiyama, which premièred in Japan on NHK from April 7, 2007. It is based entirely on the first novel in the Guardian series, and greatly expands the midsection of the novel. Synopsis: Balsa the spearwoman is a wandering warrior, who takes on the task of saving lives in atonement for a past sin. On her journey, she happens to save a prince and is tasked with becoming his bodyguard. And he is going to need one, for his own father, the emperor, wants him dead. Source: Guardian of the Spirit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Seirei no Moribito has some pretty high ratings from a lot of its viewers so far which can be seen on its ANN page. Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV) - Anime News Network --------- Just finished watching and it's a pretty awesome series. It has elements that reek of feudal fantasy asia, but takes place in a different world from ours. There's not much action, but when fights do take place, it's hella smooth and flows well. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do. If you have, feel free to discuss its awesome. |

| Pederast | Anime without teenagers as the protagonist is a win in my book. The series was fine and all, but it just wasn't on par with classics like The Twelve Kingdoms or Crest of the Stars. (All three were based on novels) Since I was watching Darker Than Black, Claymore, and Tengen at the same time, I will say that I did enjoy Guardian of the Scared Spirit the most. The great thing about series like these, is that they're based off novels. The entire setting and story is already set which gives the series more depth. "Usual" anime series start out in a simple place and than new locations are created to fit the unfolding plot. Oh, and human vs human fights in this. None of that human vs monsters bullshit. |

| Dangerous Illusionist | Well, the series just premiered on Adult Swim, so it's undoubtedly going to get some attention. I almost made another thread for this too. Good thing we have a search function, isn't it people-who-already-got-banned-for-not-using-it? Anyway, the first episode isn't quite enough to say a whole lot about it, but I already like it and definitely think it has a lot of potential to be great. Balsa is an interesting character and reminds me of Matoko Kusanagi, though that may just be due to her being a strong female lead as well as this series being animated by the same studio. |

| Being mellow | Almost all the animes from I.G are great to me so I should get into this anime as it goes on. Yea I admit, the first episode didn't really get me going that much but it doesn't mean I'll give up on this anime. Another thing that surrprised me was that I didn't recognize anyone's voice except Mona Marshall. |

| RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA RUMBA | The series seems promising, I rather like the main charecter (spear wielding woman, nearly in her 30's). Here's the the series turning out well |

| Being mellow | Oh that kid with the buck teeth? Or the Prince? The kid sounds a little like Lowenthal. Just the way the kid looks annoys me. Reminds me of Alvin from the Chipmunks. The Prince will probably learn his place while traveling with Balsa. |

| Being mellow | Just finished watching episode 3. I love the combat fighting. So I'm thinking that thats probably half of Balsa true strength. If her spear wouldn't had come off, she probably would had beat those guys. |

| Dangerous Illusionist | I'm not so sure about that. It looked to me that she was intentionally not cutting them down with her blade, but rather slapping them all around with it. She could have easily done that with her staff alone, I would think. |
